If Sylvester Stallone had spent this much time and energy on his son Sage, while he was alive, he probably would still be alive. Sly has hired a famed PI to investigate what really happened to Sage and how Sage died. This is kind of like the estranged parent doing the real killer thing that OJ and Casey Anthony have done. It is nothing but a way to assuage your guilt. How about that word huh? And in the last post I think I used a semi colon. That whole grammar a day calendar thing is starting to pay off. What is the point of hiring a PI? You know why? Sly wants you to think he really does care. He knows it is also is good for a few more days of publicity. Don't forget that Sly has a movie coming out. This will give him something to talk about. Not just that his son died, but that he is doing everything he can. That he is on a crusade. That he loved his son. So, it will keep journalists from asking the estranged questions and he can focus on all the things he is doing for his son after death. Those are the key words. After death.
So disappointed that Enty would compare Sylvester Stallone's relationship with his ADULT son to Casey Anthony killing her daughter.

About how Sly was trying to help him. Could he have had some form of autism and Sly gave up? Or did I imagine the whole thing?

ReplyDeleteAn adult child should be able to understand a parent, especially Stallone had a busy life. He was entering middle age, it's probably an accident if drugs were involved because of extensive dental work.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, Presumed Guilty is an amazingly good read, it explains what happened in the Anthony case and it quite sad but a great read. Baez had everything going against him, a bad investigation that was botched, lying prosecutors who would not enter into evidence phone records which would have proved she didn't kill her child and so much more. A biased judge, it's actually a scary thriller showing how American justice came close to going horribly wrong, and everyone knew it from the beginning.
Still I feel for the Stallone family, they loved their son but he was an adult that didn't need to be checked on daily. Sometimes bad things happen you wish you could change, and they can't but want answers, it's perfectly normal.
Oh for fucks sake. The writers of the blog have completely abandoned the entertainment lawyer mythos, haven't they?

Normally I try to suspend my disbelief, and have been reading this site for ages - but as someone who has been blessed with an addict for a relative I can assure you sometimes cutting a person off is the only way to deal with the problem.

From all accounts, Sly was an absentee father, and not much of a dad. Having a busy life is NOT an excuse for not having a relationship with your son. And just because Sage was entering middle age doesn't mean that childhood issues just magically disappear.
Having had family drama of my own I know better than to assume anything. Does Sly love his son, I don't doubt for a minute he does but no one knows what Sage was up to or what was going on in his life.

ReplyDeleteThis whole thing is a little fishy. First, the cops told TMZ what they found at the crime scene (prescription drug and booze bottles). Then, Sly's attorney made a statement denying all of it, and went so far as to say that the 'booze bottles' were empty soda bottles, and that the kid didn't drink or do drugs.

It's all strange.
No one here is saying that Sly is about to win any father-of-the-year awards. But in the very first sentence, Enty blames him for the death of his adult son and then in the second, he goes so far as to compare him to Casey Anthony and O.J. Simpson. That is beyond ridiculous to me.

a lot of people feel like they cant move on until they feel 100% certain they understand how the death occurred. im sure he feels horrible for possibly thinking he had enough time to fix things with his estranged son. he should be able to do anything that helps him get through the grieving process without harming himself or others, without other people criticizing him ENTY.

DeleteI don't know what Stallone's history is - sleazy or not, good guy or bad guy. I don't know what Stallone's relationship with his son was, but I feel terribly sad for him. If it soothes something in him to hire a PI, then go for it. No one has the right to judge how someone else grieves.

Not every parent is great, im sure Jennifer Flavin is the one raising the girls and giving them the attention they need no Sly. You only see Jennifer with the kids, never Sly.
Sly is old school movie star and will do anything to stay relevant I would hate to think of him leveraging his dead son for publicity and interest in his movie. But.....I wouldn't put it past him to do it.

That's beyond f-ed up. Stallone is a dedicated father to ALL of his children. How an adult child lives is NOT a parent's responsibility. My bedroom is a constant state of disaster and I'm not going to call my dad to tell him it's his fault.

He probably cut him off years ago just like any person would a drug addict in their family. He's not the only one in Hollywood who left family members behind because they couldn't get it together. Did we blame Amy's parents for her? No, we just said "She was troubled." So was he. Moving on.

According to a 'family friend', Sage wasn't even allowed in Sly's house, just cut out totally. Sad.
@Tracy, it does sound as if Sage was out of control, when you put that together with the stash of empty prescription bottles found in his apartment. For all we know, his cousin is also a druggie, so of course he'd blame anyone but the person responsible. I'm looking forward to the toxicology report in a few weeks, but have a feeling I already know the cause of death.

It's sad, but there isn't any need to jump on Enty about it. He is in a pretty good position to hear about what really went on between the Stallones. I doubt he posted this in a vacuum. It may sound cruel, but it is probably based on something solid.
Something went wrong somewhere. And maybe no one is truly to blame. We'll just have to wait and see what little information will come out. Because, again, we will never know the complete truth.
I know Enty is supposedly just a probate lawyer, but this makes me think he knows some dish on Sly. Or maybe he's just making it up and is really good at it. Love this site, regardless.

ReplyDeleteUffda, this post was pretty damn harsh. Maybe Stallone sucked as a father; that doesn't make him a murderer or a soulless publicity hound. Plenty of people have crappy parents and don't become drug addicts, just like plenty of drug addicts had parents who gave them everything. Sage was 36- that's old enough to have a completely independent lifestyle. If he wasn't close to one or both of his parents, it seems perfectly reasonable that they would want answers for his death.

ReplyDeleteI've followed Sage's career for over 15 years (don't ask...he was one of my first celeb crushes). I've never read anything to indicate they were estranged, BUT, I do know that Sage had an odd lifestyle. The movie genre he was into alone has a lot of kooks even for Hollywood standards, so Lord only know how he fell into having a bedroom littered with drugs. They keep showing the same pictures of him because he has very few out there. He just wasn't into the spotlight and was by all accounts a well-adjusted but shy guy. I was shocked when I saw the headline the other night. It was so sad to see how things ended for him. To think now there are accusations of him being a dealer is just mind-blowing. This is something you'd expect from like Lohan, not this guy. No matter what the final analysis is, his parents can't be blamed. He came from a broken home, but he was on the right track for many, many years. He displays a good head on his shoulders if you read any of his past interviews. It sounds like things went off course more recently, like maybe he snapped. Sad, sad, sad.

Hiring a PI was an attempt to diffuse things. It s a PR ploy indeed, to try to blur the media coverage.
What could do this PI anyway? Discover that his son was forced to take drugs against his will? Not very probable at all.
His son was probably a troubled drugs user and this was known to his family, period.
A PI won t bring anything new but a few positive articles showing Sly *cares*.

His mom seems a bit dumb'rough with all due respect so I don't think Sly had the tools to pass on to his son and if his son is not stellar then he doesn't want the association (bad for image). Maybe he was a junkie but his mum had time for him. All you judgers like Elle who prattled on, if Enty is so disgusting leave... I trust what he writes about reading about 5,000 or so entries. It's a gossip site not the New York Post. Also Sly lives in the public eye and has to wear the cost.
