Quit Or Fired

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler both say they quit American Idol. The Wrap says the pair were both fired. Jennifer, because she wanted a raise to $17M a year and that Steven was just not the ratings juggernaut they expected him to be. Aerosmith does have a new album coming out and the group is going on tour, so that might have been a more mutual option. It would be fun to think of Jennifer being fired. I like the idea of that. She always treated the show like an afterthought and it's going to be nice seeing what she tries to do without it.

  1. Oh so fired for both of them. If you gave him breast implants, Steven would look just like one of my aunts in this photo. Why does Jenny From Someone's Ass think she's worth $17m??? I feel sorry for Randy. The end is near for his cush gig.

  3. I think it would be shitty if they fire Randy, he stuck with that gig through all the drama over the years.

I think they are going to follow Simon and go for younger talent. It will kill me if Miley is up there with all her, "well, like, you sang like this, but like, you should really like, sing, like, this, like".

  4. Why don't the just cancel AI already? It's gone on forever and I can barely remember who has won the past few seasos. It's run its course. Who are they going to get to replace Steven and Jennifer? Vanilla Ice and Lisa Loeb?

I'm not sorry for Randy, he's annoying with all his "dawgs" and anyway he should have saved up enough from this gravy train he's been riding that he won't need to work again. Just cancel the damn show. It hasn't been interesting for several years.

  8. Vanilla Ice is too busy doing the Canadian version of X Factor (or an X Factor equivalent). That's the star power Canadian versions of shitty variety shows can get.

If JLo would've come out with the full on diva attitude she's supposed to have, I might have watched. I would've loved watching her try to relate to people and genuinely not understanding sports references or where she was when on the road, etc.

  9. I read that Randy is being moved to being a "mentor". NOOOO I live Jimmy!

And this morning Aretha announces SHE wants to be a judge! Take that JLo!

This is all Simon's fault--he paid Britney more than JLo was getting so she thought she deserved more.

  10. even if they dont cancel it, give a it a rest for a year or two. let people miss it and then bring it back.
tyler will be ok, but jlo should have taken the easy moola.

  11. JBlow got fired! She wanted to much moola for nothing. She was trying to blackmail them with threats of leaving and they showed her the door.

  12. I haven't watched American Idol in years and no judge stunt-casting is going to make me start watching it again....except maybe Madonna...being bitchy.

  13. Suggestion to Idol: Randy, Jimmy Iovine and a judge go to auditions. Then replace JLo's spot with a guest celebrity judge each week.

  14. Jennifer Lopez ( I always think of Cartman when I picture her) really needs to fade into obscurity.

As for AI, they should bring in the more successful alumni as judges for a season. Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert; and maybe even throw Rupert a bone. Their perspective would be the freshest of all.

  15. The only way I would EVER tune in again is if somebody in Led Zeppelin became a judge, and my boys would never let me down by doing that.

  16. @Brenda, since it took them 9 seasons to even give them the rights to any songs, I doubt that's gonna happen.

They need to do something radical. Aretha and Billy Corgan as judges. No one under 18, I'm tired of these kids who are overgrown Toddler & Tiara/Mickey Mouse Club victims of creepy stage parents. No tween-bots crowding the stage. Cap the voting like other shows. And Randy can only mention Mariah or Journey once per season.

  17. It'll be fun watching JLo fade as she thinks she's so popular again, when I was that she was just on a very popular show. What was she doing before AI? Exactly.

  18. I believe they were fired. The show's ratings were down this season, esp when it became the J Lo Variety hour.

I too, will enjoy watching her career flop again. Ungrateful bitch.

Tyler needs to hang up his leather pants and go away too. He is embarrassing.

  19. I have heard that the hot and adorable Jon Bon Jovi is in talks with the AI people, now that I would watch!!

  20. Im pretty sure Steven Tyler saw a huge career revival from the show and gained a lot of fans. Half the women of the world are wearing feathers in their hair because of him. JLo on the other hand...
