No Doubt

It has been over a decade. It was worth the wait.

  1. Although I have a girl crush on Gwen, the song and video are meh.

  2. Hated it. I'm going to start calling them Some Doubt.

  3. Loved the not so subtle L'Oreal product placement.

  4. I love No Doubt, but please tell me that now, after more than ten years, a marriage to Gavin Rossdale and multiple children later, she can finally stop writing songs about Tony.

  5. aahh, Enty , worth the wait? For what, please?

  6. Heard it this morning on the radio. Sounds like their meh second album.

  7. lame song, lame video

  8. Underwhelmed. Got bored halfway through and turned it off.

  9. Yeah not their best song, although I did appreciate the appearance of the orange. It threw me back to Tragic Kingdom which is a happier place than this.

  10. Yeah, no... It looks like the video was shot to avoid anyone noticing Gwen's botoxed forehead.

  11. I think it's a mistake for people to get locked into their 17 yr old persona like this. Just imagine what would have happened if Gwen Stefani had matured and lived the life of a woman, singing and performing, being something other than a skateboarding boy's companion.

  12. Heard the song on the radio the other day, and I actually liked it. I love all things Gwen except that hubby of hers, and I got the impression she was singing about him and not that Tony boy.

  13. Gwen looks amazing, but the song ... meh ....

  14. Agree, meh. It's like it's 2000 all over again. They lost me at the blatent product placement.

    But Gwen does look good.

  15. Song and video are going to cause a few epileptic seizures.

Meh, but it'll grow on me. At least it's more complex musically than "Call Me Maybe"

  16. ditto....gwen looks fantastic..the music not so much

  17. It sounds more like Gwen's song Banana's or whatever when she was in her asian phase... It is catchy, but forget-worthy

  18. It's not that great, IMO. I can take or leave No Doubt, but they have some superfun songs. This isn't one of them.

  19. I love the video, yes I was afraid of it causing a seizure. I WANT to love it so much but I think my problem and maybe others is that I don't get what story she's telling. the melody and lyrics aren't jumping out at me so I need to listen again and maybe google the lyrics so I can understand and that's way too much work to make myself like a song when I should just like what I like. I love the video though if only I understand what it was trying to say.

  20. I like it. It is peppy, and I happen to love the Return of Saturn album!

  21. Earugh, this feels like No Doubt has fallen into the Black Hole of the 90's (Avril Lavigne's in there, at least they'll have some company).

"Hey, if we look the same as we did 15 years ago, but knock out some heavily-produced music that sounds a whole lot like everything else out right now, the kids will totally dig us!"

It's a difficult line to walk, keeping old fans happy, and showing growth as a band, and they missed it entirely. Shoulda taken that left turn at Alberquerque.

  22. It will grow on me. The song is just...too much. There's too many elements to it. I'm pray the rest of the album is good. I've been waiting for years.

  23. Not nuts about the song at first listen. I love Gwen's voice though. She looks great but the botox is distracting.

  24. The song is "ok". I'd like to hear what else they've come up with.

The video is HELLA BORING and oh my god Gwen, eat a hamburger, girl. You are too skinny.

  25. Well- I give the song a 5, the video a 3.

Will I buy tickets to see them at the Santa Barbara County Bowl- HELL YEAH!

  26. "Some Doubt", perfect, Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors!

  27. "Get in line and settle down." Okay, got it.

  28. Didn't like it when I first heard it, but it grew on me after awhile - am glad they're back though.

  29. As a long time No Doubt fan.. I kinda felt like I was in a time warp..

Thinking like my 13year old daughter, I like it. I can see a whole new batch of teen girl fans.

*secretly wonders if L'oreal pony'd up some monies for the video*

  30. Gwen makes me sick. She is my age and still looks the same as she did in the Don't Speak video, when we were both in our 20s. And she really doesn't look like she's ever had work done. Awesome genes and hard work, I guess. Anyway, love her...not crazy about the new song.

  31. You think in 10 years they would have come up with a fresh sound...all they need is a jamacian rapper and it's 2002 all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It was CoverGirl Infallible Lipgloss - before the 1 minute mark. Come on, Gwen. And The Harauku girls?
No Doubt doesn't need sponsoring. I can GUARANTEE this will be shoved down our throats, with the CG. The song is Meh, about 45 seconds too long. BUT, the band has not aged a day since 1995. It is classic ND, and I'm sure there will be better songs of this long, very long awaited release.
I preferred Gwen with roots and a fat butt personally. Too polished for my taste. And I'd put $$ on that checkerboard manicure for sale by CG, real soon.....
How much is too much? Jesus, she's a bazillionare by now. Fucking sell out. I thought you were better than that Gwen.

  33. Okay, we're going on 17 years with these guys in the spotlight, and they really haven't aged. WTF???

    ReplyDelete
  34. I had to listen to "Bathwater" to forget that atrocity. Pass.

  35. love the song but Gwen has botoxed the hell out of her upper lip and she looks sort of gaunt like she's taking speed to drop weight and her eyes are buggin' sort of speed freaky.
    love adrian he's my fave.

  36. I totally agree with Barton Fink.
Gwen is a year older than me, and I found this sad. There seems to be no growth. Same platinum hair, same red lipstick, same bra with wife beater, etc. I thought her endorsement deal was with L'Oreal.

ND suffers the same problem as JBlow: stuck in 2000. What happened to evolving?

  37. Maybe the song was worth the wait, but it was not worth having to watch an LMFAO ad first

    ReplyDelete
  38. Loved it! No Doubt has a specific sound and public persona, and that's what they do best...it's what No Doubt is.

So for all the haters--keep drinking the haterade.

I love and respect that they kept to their reggae roots.

Gwen looks amazing too. And yeah she had work done. Very common in the celebrity world/music industry.

And I'm not digging the double standard here...Gwen is no different from Mick Jaggar or Steven Tyler. They all have their unique stage personas. It does not mean they didn't "grow up". It's the music business.

  39. @PR Princess
I give you one name: Prince. He always evolves. Either you're evolving or you're dying.

I also thought Gwen's song "Cool" was a nice progression.

Steven Tyler looks like someone's spinster aunt, and Mick Jagger has always been fugly. Actually, Gwen would be a great addition to AI.

  40. Steven Tyler has definitely grown with the times. Listen to the early stuff again, @PR Princess.
As for this stuff, No Doubt STILL rocks socks. There are VERY few females that can hold a candle to Gwen's originality.
