Mel Gibson's Stepmother Wants Mel To Stay Away
Mel Gibson's stepmother filed for a restraining order against Mel Gibson yesterday claiming that he was violent towards her and spit in her face. That is a shocker huh? I always thought Mel was one of those calm guys who never got upset and never raised his voice and always had nothing but love and kindness for anyone in the world. Huh. Guess I was wrong. Mel apparently yelled at her when she suggested one course of medical treatment for Mel's dad and Mel didn't like it at all. He started screaming at her and she backed down. She wants to be able to talk to her soon to be ex without Mel always in the middle of everything.
Somebody needs to hook Mel up with Tom Cruise. Could you imagine?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Mel Gibson goes the way of Robert Blake or Phil Spector.
ReplyDeleteGive me back my son!
ReplyDeleteDid it occur to anyone that this woman may be a whackjob?
ReplyDeleteThe father filed for divorce, the step mother claims not to know why and wants to keep the son away while she talks to the father and makes medical decisions??? Sounds like she's the shady one.
Steppy - please. Seriously these Mel worshipers have lost all objectivity. How many people have to speak out or play recorded rants from Mel himself before they stop defending him? Have you ever seen someone so thoroughly documented in his behavior? Do you think all these people are colluding against him? Because Joe Esterhas has his 78 year old stepmother on speed dial? I've seen him on TV interviews where the interviewer angered him and he could barely keep it contained on camera. I can only imagine his behavior on a personal level where he feels entitled. And no one talks about what seems to be his extreme paranoia.
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth , very interesting point you made re "going the way of Robert Blake or Phil Spector".
ReplyDeleteIf he joins Co$ they will do it for him ?
@Elizabeth - as a Jew and as a woman, I HATE Mel Gibson. But I think Steppy has made a fair point and in doing so, doesn't deserve to be called a "Mel Worshipper." We have no idea what course of treatment this woman was advocating.
ReplyDeleteI miss the Mel from the Lethal Weapon movies AND The Patriot. I try my hardest to not support Mel or anyone associated with Co$ for that matter, but i cant help but to watch and openly love The Patriot, the only movie that makes me bawl like a baby at least 3 times.
ReplyDelete@rejectedcarebear - I think it was the same Mel back then; he just did a better job at hiding his true colors.
ReplyDeleteCathy, this is directly from TMZ:
ReplyDeleteMel Gibson THREATENED his own 78-year-old step-mom ... SPIT IN HER FACE ... and sabotaged her marriage ... this according to legal docs filed by the woman and obtained by TMZ.
Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson -- who married Mel's father Hutton Gibson in 2001 -- has filed for a restraining order against Mel ... claiming he exploded on her several times and now she fears for her safety.
In the docs, Joye claims Mel and his sister Maura hate her guts ... because she doesn't approve of the controversial medical treatments they've been pressuring Hutton to undergo to treat his various ailments.
In the docs, filed by attorney Brian J. Kramer, Joye describes several outbursts in detail:
October 2011 -- Mel screams at Joye because Joye does not approve of "experimental Ozone treatments" Hutton was undergoing for an undisclosed illness.
"Mel began yelling and saying, 'f*ck this and f*ck that' while leveling other extremely offensive language at me."
Joye claims Mel warned her "not to f*ck with [Hutton's] treatments in any way."
January 2012 -- While visiting Hutton in the hospital, Joye claims she said something that set Mel off ... and "Mel got up, looking wild and began yelling at me in a very loud and terrifying voice."
"Mel was so upset and screaming so fiercely that I could see his face turn red."
---------------
Gotta say I'm on the wife's side. But then it's Mel; he needs shock therapy and a lobotomy.
If it was someone else, I would be more wary. But this is Mel Gibson, who has spewed hate at nearly everyone. Not hearsay - but recorded rantings.
ReplyDelete@Vicki - I agree that Mel has serious issues as a human being and I hate him with a passion. But in this specific instance, I can see why he'd be upset - if my ailing parent had their soon-to-be-ex still in charge of medical decisions and they were making controversial decisions that I didn't agree with, I'd be upset too. Not saying I agree with how he treated her - it's reprehensible. All I'm saying is that in this ONE instance, I can see where his anger is coming from and while he had no right to treat this woman in such a way, she doesn't sound like such an angel either.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicky, I just have a hard time with the defense of Mel. Gossip in general tends to be based on rumor and speculation, but Mel has a documented history from arrests to audio recordings. If something like Vanity Fair were to do a story on Mel's behavior and interviewed everyone with a story, it would probably be thirty pages. There comes a point when it just is what it is.
ReplyDeleteMel being a documented rage-a-holic does not mean the stepmom can't be doing something wrong. It's not a zero-sum game, one having to be wrong for the other to be right. They could both be behaving really badly, to the detriment of the senior Gibson (much as I may hate his outlook on life, doesn't deserve to be mistreated medically, if that's the case).
ReplyDeleteCathy, the woman questioned the effectiveness of medical treatment for her HUSBAND. Is Mel a doctor? Has she no right to wonder if the treatments were effective? Does Mel get furious at anyone that disagrees with him? He even demanded she eat the food he was preparing threatening to put her outside - in Panama! She said she was not feeling well and threw up! Sorry, I don't think this 78 year old woman has a plan to do in her 90 plus year old husband who she's been with for years. It's not like she has a hot babe waiting in the wings. This isn't some stranger, it is her husband and she has a right to question the medical treatment if she thinks it's not working - even if her husband is a hateful holocaust denier.
ReplyDeleteI don't give a crap what kind of medical advice Mel's stepmother was giving. He has no right to physically or verbally attack another human being. He spit in her face! On what planet is this behavior acceptable??
ReplyDeleteAnd yet @Himmmm says Mel's one of the few Hollywood good guys. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteI don't get why someone would think the wife has no say in asking or suggesting medical treatments. Wouldn't a wife of over ten years at least be able to question if something was working? That's what she did and Mel has the right to scream and threaten her? Of course this 78 year old woman might be afraid of him. If he unleashed on her and started screaming until he was spitting, what do you expect an old woman to feel but fear? And again, she's the guys wife of over ten years.
ReplyDeleteHimmmm has also said Mel has big issues. He just says Mel also has done some good things and I believe that. I believe Mel was really supportive of RDJ and others.
ReplyDeleteI also believe whatever has happened to Mel is progressive and he's gotten worse over the years. That's why I think he could end up in a bad situation down the line. When he's angry, he does not seem to grasp restraint, he seems to have no control over his behavior.
Elizabeth, you are right. Mel has his good side. He was a mentor and friend to RDJ, Heath Ledger, and Whitney Huston. The Huston family invited Mel to speak at her funeral because he tried to get Whitney off drugs, but he couldn't make it because of scheduling conflicts. I personally think he didn't go to Whitney's funeral because he knew the press would focus on him being there and it would have taken away from the memory of Whitney.
ReplyDeleteMel needs some Scientology in his life those are some positive people.
ReplyDeleteSteppy, even if she was a whack job, she couldn't possibly come close to the whacko Mel is.
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth - first of all, I want to make it clear that I am NOT defending Mel - I'm just saying that I don't think his stepmom is 100% in the right either. First of all, you failed to mention that she's his soon-to-be-ex, which to me means that maybe she shouldn't be the one making medical decisions. Second, you said she had the right to question whether a medical treatment was effective - I think you have it backwards; Mel was questioning whether the controversial treatment that she was advocating was effective - so doesn't he have that right? Again, I want to be perfectly clear that I am in no way saying that his behavior was okay - it is reprehensible to treat people the way that he does - I'm just saying that I think there's something off about her too.
ReplyDeleteHi, Ogie! Glad to see you finally made it to the party! (Ogie is a dear friend of mine IRL who I've gotten addicted to CDAN, mwhahaha! Be afraid, be VERY afraid... ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs for Mel: It's quite possible his stepmother is a little off in terms of whatever medical treatment she's pitching (although I suspect she's doing so w/the best of intentions), so I can understand being upset about that. Upset is one thing, though; actively threatening is quite another. *sigh* It's frustrating, because Mel has done good things for people over the years, so obviously he has it in him to be a decent fellow; unfortunately, he's been letting his dark side out to play waaaaay too often in recent years.
(Hey, Himmmm--have you been in touch w/Mel lately? I don't suppose you could get in touch w/him and gently try to help him calm down a bit, could you? Oh, and hope you're not roasting too badly in North Carolina these days... ;-)
From what I understand, Mel is the one that has whispered in his father's ear about getting a divorce. That aside, you can express your thoughts without screaming in someone's face resulting in spittal flying. She is a 78 year old woman, and agree with her or not, at least have the manners to control yourself.
ReplyDeleteMel Gibson keeps getting a pass because he can be a nice guy.
Anyway you look at it, Mel has an anger management problem, drinking problem, and obviously being a asshat problem.
What took her so long?
ReplyDeleteCathy you have it backwards, the 78 year old Stepmother is questioning the treatments Mel wants to do:
ReplyDelete"In the docs, Joye claims Mel and his sister Maura hate her guts ... because she doesn't approve of the controversial medical treatments they've been pressuring Hutton to undergo to treat his various ailments.
October 2011 -- Mel screams at Joye because Joye does not approve of "experimental Ozone treatments" Hutton was undergoing for an undisclosed illness.
May 2012 -- During a family meeting to discuss Hutton's health care, "Mel became incensed and began acting like a wild man."
Joye claims Mel began screaming right in her face ... noting, "He was so close that I could feel his spit hitting my face."
She claims Mel's eyes "looked as if they were bulging out of his head."
Joye claims she was paralyzed with fear and later vomited because of the incident.
In the docs, Joye claims Mel and his sister MUST have manipulated their ailing father into filing for divorce ... because Hutton is a devout Catholic and doesn't believe in divorce. Plus, she claims Hutton recently penned her a love note claiming, "Our mutual love is permanent."
Joye claims Mel is even trying to force her out of her home ... because it's owned by a charity that Mel controls. Joye says she has no place else to go.
Joye wants a judge to block Mel from booting her from the home ... and prevent him from interfering with her attempts to communicate with her husband."

Oh and these "ozone" treatments are in Panama. I'd wonder what this was about too if I were her. Guess Mel would be screaming at me too.
I read that her husband accused her of elder abuse and is divorcing her because she wants him to stop pursuing treatment and give in to death. Not surprisingly, his kids are furious with her. Emotions run high when one's parent is dying, and Mel isn't likely to control his. It's possible the kids pushed the father to file divorce papers because they are desperate to extend his life. AT the same time, she may not be all that nice. It certainly looks like she is leveraging Mel's bad reputation at this moment.
ReplyDeleteRedheat, that was my question - why divorce him, at that age - if you obviously still care so much about him?? Something is missing here.
ReplyDeleteAs to the alternative health care - I can see why the "ex" is against it. Many people are, and think you are a whack job to want to try alternative approaches.
Then you have those w/an ill family member and you will do anything it takes...some times it works and some times it doesn't.
The old man seems to be the source for Mel being a whack job, very mean, won't admit the Holocaust ever occurred, but at least he is loved in spite of it...I hope there is a side not released to the public, which I am almost sure there has to be, hopefully!
I love when people berate each other for having opinions.
ReplyDelete^***THIS**^^^^^^
Deletebookjacket, OR, she's wondering what kind of success rates Ozone treatments in Panama have. I've never heard of Ozone treatments, have you? Is that some new miracle cure all? Does the lack of Ozone treatments cause death? Because you seem to be saying Mel thinks his dad will die if he doesn't get Ozone treatments in Panama. Please post a link to their incredible ability to prevent death in a 93 year old man.
ReplyDeletePoor Mel, nobody likes him anymore, except Steppy...
ReplyDeleteI am not a "Mel-worshipper," but I also don't have the seemingly limitless amount of hatred for him so many people seem to. I think he has emotional problems and rage issues as well as a drinking problem, but I also think he can be a genuinely kind, generous person and a good friend, based on what I've read from people who know him. I think there are a lot of people who are FAR more offensive but, for some reason, get a free pass (case in point: Zach G. wouldn't do Hangover 2 if Mel was in it, but he has no problem working with convicted rapist Mike Tyson. Riddle me that).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, family issues are always particularly emotional, and when you are dealing with step-parents, ailing elderly parents, people with emotional problems, etc., things are definitely going to get dicey. If I truly believed that some treatment would help my parent, and their soon-to-be-ex began interfering in it, I would react very negatively, too. And I wouldn't give a shit how old they were. Mel should try to remain calm, but let's face it, given his tendancies and the situation, that's not going to happen.
Elizabeth--My point was simply that emotions run high in situations like this. I think the nature of the treatment is irrelevant. Mel's old man is a dominating personality, and more than a little wacky, and a treatment like this could well have been his own idea, maybe something he's been researching for a while.(However sick and old he is, don't forget this guy is a contentious guy who considers himself a theologian and general expert on everything.) If so, his kids have the right to support him. If they're forcing him into this, then the wife is right to fight. This is aside from Mel being an ass.
ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of Mel either, but I have to say - if I thought the health and/or wellbeing of my elderly father was being threatened by my stepmother, I'd go crazy on her ass too. Even if his father was an ass - he's still my dad.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe people are implying that the 78 year old wife of ten years is THREATENING THE HEALTH of Mel's dad by questioning Ozone treatments in Panama. According to the links, all she did was question the effectiveness, she did not prevent them, however stupid they are. That's not even the point of the lawsuit, all she's saying is Mel is scaring the crap out of her and you guys are saying it's okay for him to do it. Just unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note , his straight to DVD movie kind of looks funny. I forgot the title but something about this guy jailed in Mexico trying to get $ back from cartel.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I used Mel Gibson and "straight to DVD" in same sentence. Oi!
Texshan, I agree about the endless amount of hatred for Mel. As if the rest of Hollywood is pure as the driven snow. The late Marlon Brando once gave a TV interview in which he said Jews control Hollywood. He got a pass on that. Roman Polanski drugged and raped an underage girl and Hollywood rushed to his defense. Woody Allen has sex with a girl who was practically his step-daughter but he is worshipped as a genius. And some Hollywood people are more willing to work with convicted rapist Mike Tyson (I don't care that he did his time; he's still a rapist) than with Mel. I don't get it.
