Did Kim Richards Have A Relapse In Paris?

Remember how Kim Richards was supposed to be not on Real Housewives anymore? She was supposed to be phased out with Taylor Armstrong but so far that has not really happened. In fact, with what happened in Paris, Kim Richards may have a great little storyline going for next season. According to people close to the production, Kim Richards had a meltdown on on the cast's recent trip to Paris. It was all caught on camera and apparently it all had to do with some pills she is taking. This is what I don't understand about rehab. You go and you get sober for drinking, but doctors still say it is fine to take everything else, so are you really sober? Anyway, Kim was taking Klonopin and Ambien and there may be others. Of course the meltdown could be just because she had to spend so much one on one time with Brandi Glanville.

  1. Holy shit, have you guys seen the posts on TMZ about the Jacksons?

  2. Vicki - not yet, checking now. Thanks for the head's up!

  3. I don't think doctors tell you it's fine to take anything else. Granted, I've never been to rehab. I have a few friends who have gone for alcohol, though, and they were all advised to stay away from ANY kind of temptation because it could lead to drinking.
Lost some smoking buddies because of it, which sucked, but at least they are doing much better now. Much happier and healthier.

  4. I don't call myself sober nor have I been to rehab. But I don't drink at all. I have issues with alcohol and its easier for me to remove it from my life. However, I do still smoke pot. So while I used to be a raging drunk stoner, now I'm strictly stoner.

  5. Wow. The Jacksons stuff is NUTS. Though not surprisingly so, I guess being it's the Jacksons and all. Those poor children, and poor Katherine.

For alcoholics, they should really stay away from painkillers. However, they can still take depression medication and anxiety medication (klonopin), as those conditions not being controlled can lead to relapse.

  6. After the post about ambien the other day and so many of u posted ur crazy stories I can't imagine prescribing that drug to anyone besides a bored teenager looking for some fun on the weekends. Yes I'm joking but seriously that's te only type of person I can see actually wanting it.

  7. I had to run over and look, Vicki, and HOLY SHIT! How long until Jermaine starts flapping his gums for money about whatever is REALLY going down?

  8. Back on topic, I can assure you, sober is what you're furthest from being if you're popping klonopin.

  9. discoflux, that kind of depends. Klonopin is anti-anxiety. If someone is being prescribed that in conjunction with antidepressants, they are monitored by a doctor who works with them on finding the right combination and dosage to feel level. The caveat is that a) sometimes people are buddy-buddy with their doctor who just prescribes them what they want (could be the cast here), or b) they lie to the doctor in order to get what they want (also could be the case). I've known people who've played each instance.

I know, though, that my mom works with her doctor, and she has been sober for 25 years.

  10. Thanks for the information, Amber! I wish your mom all the best!

  11. Vicki, thanks for your comment, I just read everything. Shiz is unreal.

I have tons of friends in recovery and the ones who have been sober the longest don't mess around with prescription painkillers.

Many people, in early sobriety especially, seek help for their depression and anxiety. Find a good doctor, one who respects your sobriety, and you're all set. Some of they don't care at all though.

I, too, thought Kim was not going to be on the show. How could she not? WE LOVE A GREAT TRAINWRECK.

  12. Thanks, discoflux! She's great! She actually says that she doesn't struggle with it at all. After she made the decision to be sober, she never looked back. I realize she's REALLY fortunate in that regard.

She does, however, miss smoking cigarettes. She used to smoked 3 packs/day before I was born, and went to shock therapy for it! I don't mean electroshock, though. This is where she would have to do things like look in a mirror and continuously smoke cigarettes w/o being able to ash or touch the cig at all. So ash would be falling all down her chest, and she said she literally had to peel the cig butt off of her lips. Gotta love the late 70s!

Oh my God - SHICK!! I remember their commercials during my I Dream of Jeannie and Courtship of Eddie's Father marathon sessions!
Glad your Mama is doing well :)

  14. @Sunny - it had commercials? lol. Well, it really worked! Sounds absolutely dreadful, but I suppose that's the point. Hah.

    And thank you :)

  15. ^I still see commercials for Shick Shaedel (spelling mangled) every now and then. White-haired dude. Yikes.

  16. The wise addict stays away from all mind-altering substances. Richards is in the hands of heavily prescribing psychiatrists, when I suspect she is one of those people who would benefit from minimal drugging and daily therapy sessions for at least 6 months. She has some deeply ingrained issues that have to be worked through, ventilated, brought to the light and addressed, and she's reaching a time where her personality issues are getting harder and harder to treat.

  17. @Barton - once a cucumber becomes a pickle, there's no going back :)

Love the sweet photo of Kim, Enty.

  18. Ambien is Bad News for anyone who likes getting loopy... If you take it & force yourself to stay awake, it can give you a serious hypnotic buzz. Remember Tiger Woods & how much he loved taking it while he was screwing around? There are other, better sleep meds that just knock you out, without the fun feeling.
(it's bad, but I want to see what happened in Paris!)

  19. Kim has been heavily over-medicated for a while. You'd think when she went to rehab they'd have straightened all that out.

I am so sorry to hear that---I just saw pictures of the whole group the other day (maybe here) and I thought she looked really good.

  20. Anyone can find Dr's in LA who will prescribe painkillers. "I have a back problem." "I have a toothache." If someone in recovery is honest with their doc and they legitimately have to take something stronger than tylenol, then they are instructed to take as directed only. Give the bottle to a loved one to dole out. Throw away what's left. But it's too easy in LA if you have money and know the right docs. And don't really want to be sober. (I doubt she does.)

  21. I totally agree with Enty. You're not really sober if you are taking those types of pills.

  22. @Carebear I'm of the same variety lol. But I have no idea wth is goin on with Kim. She's always looked like she was on opiates (sp?) to me.

  23. I've taken Klonopin and Ambien. All the Klonopin did was get rid of my bad anxiety, and all the Ambien did was make it easier for me to sleep. I guess drugs work differently for everyone, but they don't seem that serious to me.
