  5. Oh man. She was so awesome. Let us not forget about her singing and dancing in High Society. She was so great in everything she did.

  6. Aw man, didn't realize that the end of her life was marred in estrangement from her sons (over money, of course) and that she lived on social security:

  8. So, absolutely no disrespect meant, but, as far as Celebrity Death Watch goes;

    Ernest Borgnine
    Celeste Holm
    Andy Griffith

    Is that our trio?

    And, very impressively, they all lived very long lives.

  9. I adore All About Eve and A Letter to Three Wives, so this one hurts a lot. She seemed so lovely, in everything she did.

  11. Frufra,

    Celeste Holme kept coming up on my radar in weird ways this entire past month. The other celeb doing that is Angela Lansbury.

  13. its nice to see an actor live a full long life and not get cut down in their prime from drugs or alcohol.

  14. Yes @Cindy, she was the Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren. Loved her in that, and All About Eve, and High Society.

  15. Celeste had a great quote about the 5 stages of fame in Hollywood;

    1) Who is Celeste Holm?
    2) That Celeste Holm - she's got something!
    3) Get me Celeste Holm!
    4) Get me a young Celeste Holm!
    5) Who is Celeste Holm?

  16. @Nutty_Flavor: Mary Astor said something vary similar about the five stages of her career:
    1) Who's Mary Astor?
    2) Get me Mary Astor!
    3) Get me a Mary Astor type!
    4) Get me a young Mary Astor!
    5) Who's Mary Astor?
    That woman had quite a life, herself.

  17. Even though it's late, I had to come back to this thread and add that I meant no disrespect by mentioning celebrity death watch, although in retrospect it may be disrespectful to some. I just wanted to apologize - I would never want to make light of anyone's loss or death.

    I happen to find such things fascinating, and perhaps have a different view of death than some - however, that's no excuse for being thoughtless.

  18. All About Eve is definitely in my top 10 Favorite movies of all time. For those of you who have not seen it, it is a must see. Especially before they remake it with someone like Anne Hathaway, Kiera Knightly or Miley Cyrus.

  19. @Frufra- you didn't bother me any.

  22. There's a shortage of character actors with real character these days. Or at least Hollyweird in its wisdom can't find them. She was one of those actors that made a movie fun. Sigh.
