Blind Items Revealed

May 17, 2012

With all the casting couch and horror stories about what can happen to actors and actresses as they try to make it in the business, I thought I would tell you about the actress who got even for every guy that put her in a casting couch position or was an a-hole to her when coming on to her. Our actress is A list. Actually she is A+ list. Probably going to make it too easy, because there are not that many out there.

Anyway, when she first started out as an actress there was this producer who said he could get her a part if she slept with him. She did and got the role, but not the one he promised. Later, when she became very well known, our actress would send photos of herself to his house and to his office with the message F**k you! written across them.

In another very early movie in her career, our actress was propositioned by an actor, who at the time was still a big deal. I mean like A list television big deal. A guy who had been married to one of the most famous women on the planet big deal. He was divorced at the time but about to get married to another woman. He failed to tell this to our actress and the pair began dating on set. He of course got what he wanted and dumped her and our actress got her revenge when this actor got signed to direct a movie and was going to be paid a fortune. Our actress heard about it and signed on to the movie but said she would not do it with this man as the director. He got fired and she did the movie. Again, she also sent a note from the set which said, "Wish you were here."

One of my favorites though has to be when she was cast to do this awful movie. On the set she met this guy who is still a very solid B list actor and has been married to someone very famous. Anyway, the two started dating and he kept saying she was the only one in his life and that he only wanted her. She heard this before from others so took awhile to warm up to the guy, but she did. Well, one night she goes over to his place expecting them to be alone and the guy is in bed with another man and woman and got really upset when our actress did not want to join in. As in really upset and screaming and yelling at her and calling her worthless and so much more. The guy was out of control. Our actress finally walked out. What our actress still does to this day is send the guy flowers and a card whenever a show of his gets canceled or a pilot not picked up which says, "Who is worthless now?"

Charlize Theron

    Thus, a tie.

  12. I thought this was creepy, obsessive, stalkerish, and other awful things when it was a blind and am really surprised it's Charlize.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It seems petty, but not half as petty as the men using their job as a point of leverage to compel sex from someone. I say, let it rip, Charlize!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I got the impression she did the movie she got the director fired from...or the one that used her? Was she in Showgirls?

I am stunned. What awful movie except Young Adult? I don't remember any big name actors. She was brilliant in Monster. Even if you discounted her performance, which was so phenomenal, she totally disregarded her looks to immerser herself in that character. The mullett, the teeth, the skin, unbelievable. If I had not known it was her I would never have believed it. I thought she wss the only good part of Young Adult.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Any guesses who these men are?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Awful movie is Aeon Flux, Johnny Lee Miller for the actor, who was married to Ang Jolie.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's like a real life version of the show Revenge. It's kinda sad though. She can't be that happy carrying all that negativity around.

    ReplyDelete
  18. See, it was the A+ hint that threw people off. Even with her Oscar, Theron can't get a major film project greenlight-ed with her name alone.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Love it! She's awesome! Who are the guys???

    ReplyDelete
  20. Peter Horton for the A-list TV guy? Married to Michelle Pfeiffer, was in 2 Days in the Valley, re-married right after the movie was filmed.

  24. Maybe That Thing You Do! as the first movie? She wanted liv Tyler's part?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gotta say it again: Creepy. She slept with all the guys, and the first two retaliations on her part are plain stalker psycho behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Still trying to figure out who was married to the most famous woman in the world...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think the actor director was Peter Horton. He was big in TV on Thirtysomething and was married to Michelle Pfeiffer

    ReplyDelete
  28. Considering how women are treated in Hollywood, I can't say I really blame for feeling like this is a way to take control.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Charlieze grew up in a very dysfunctional family her father was abusive and her mother killed him in self defense in South Africa.

I can see why she would be so vindictive and punish the men in her life who did her dirty.

    Personally, I find it hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  30. From appearances at least she seems to be very healthy, and have a wicked sense of humor. So I don't think this is done from spite and insider bitterness, but more from madcap crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wonko, thank you. I said 3 Days...hahaha- so many people were in that movie. Big cast. I liked it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hollyweird chews women up & spits them out all the time...Charlize is here to stay and good on her for getting some back! Yeah, it's a bit borderline of her to send the photos, but think about it--how many girls/women has she personally known who got treated much worse? I figure she's getting some back for them too. Love the "worthless" story.

Love Charlize, period. Except for the whole "dumping Stuart Townsend" thing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A woman scorned......makes me love that revengeful cunt that much more. You go Charlize!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sometimes i have issues with women always believing the shit that men say! But whatever i like a good revenge story!

    ReplyDelete
  35. nah @Solitary Angel I think she gets a pass for dumping Stuart. She wanted kids and he didn't. So she went ahead and adopted alone which was a two year process.

I think it was brave of her to do things the right way and not put a man ahead of her desires to be a mother.

    ReplyDelete
  36. to keep doing it there must be some insecurity still there - which i totally get; having grown up in the environment she did and having had these experiences. it's hard, and it sticks, when people call you worthless.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If I didn't already love her I sure do now!!
Maybe that's why she has such trouble with getting good parts. These men don't like to be called on their BS, especially not by a leggy blonde.
Good woman Charlize. Don't let them away with it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Agree with the first commenter LeGrange. It's disappointing. I can understand nursing a grudge to an extent, but to make a 2nd career out of it isn't what you can call a class act.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Who were the guys in this blind?!

    ReplyDelete
  40. "to keep doing it there must be some insecurity still there..."

I disagree. Sounds to me like she's keeping up a rep. in the biz of someone who will not be fucked with. If you've got the career mojo that it won't hurt you professionally, I can see maintaining your bitch armor as a practical necessity.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I went through the photos for that day and there was no Charlize but there were Cannes photos of several A and B list actresses so I'm thinking he's messing with us (or as I thought, they mean nothing and he just posts).

    ReplyDelete
  42. Correct, angel. And it's weak, not the strong woman I thought she was. (She 100 percent played the game, sleeping with these men to get parts -- I mean all this screams that she's retaliating so visciously out of self-hatred.)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have WAY more issues with men who say that shit to get women to sleep with them, as well as those who use their jobs as leverage.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @agent**it just read through the comments and even though I've never seen much of AG's work, the love and respect for the man shines through. What a lovely way to remember an icon.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @B.Profane, what she's doing is so petty, it can hardly be called armor.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Everybody whines when we read the posts about downtrodden women, then when one gets her own back it's all, she must have issues, she should let go etc etc

I say GO GIRL.. It's your revenge, you serve that dish any way you like.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I say good on her, most women in Hollywood just go along with the BS but she didn't and won't let them forget what turds they are. Good for her, they deserve nothing better.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love that she got to say eff you to those guys. Women have a crap time in LA. What do men have to do on the casting couch?

I just hope she was able to let the negativity go after getting her revenge.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i think it's johnny lee miller because he keeps doing tv that gets canceled smith eli stone etc etc married to angie

    ReplyDelete
  50. jonny lee miller for "worthless" ?

    ReplyDelete
  51. More like hatred for these men who act like assholes and use their positions to make or break someone's career. It doesn't just happen to women either.

    Good for Charlize!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh, c'mon ya'll....after all the crap we read about here, the way women are treated in Hollywood - used and tossed aside, its refreshing to see a successful woman doing the same thing back to those idiots. I think it's brilliant and I like her even more now.

    --------

If you think men don't have to do "favors" for roles, you are very, very naive.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Exactly paris. It's not a female only problem. Far from it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Co-signing with astrogirl.

If the men had told her straight up 'this is just sex for a role' I'd understand the argument that this is pathetic, but in all three cases the men went out of their way to lie to her, lead her on, and/or promise her something that they didn't give to her. I won't even argue that she may have issues when it comes to holding grudges but she should hardly be judged as worse than these men who play mind games just because they can.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I guessed this one!

This fits into what I've seen of her personality on interviews. She is not very forgiving and quite brittle.

On the surface this seems empowering, but it really shows major psychological problems and lack of responsibility. She chose these guys too. I hope she is in therapy.

I always remember what Stephan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind wrote "Persephone" for her.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I meant to state "unforgiving."

    ReplyDelete
  58. @ Agent**It- thanks for the tip up-thread. Great stories about Andy Griffith :-). I've been traveling, so haven't been able to keep up properly.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hmmn. Horton is the one who likes to direct, but Miller is the one who was once married to the most famous women on the planet (love me some Pfeiffer, but we're talking about Jolie here). Also, Charlize had just won the Oscar when she started filming Aeon Flux. Who is seriously going to call a recent Oscar winner "worthless"?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Love her! She's nobodys door mat

    ReplyDelete
  61. The number two guy (literally and figuratively) is Sean Peen, I mean Penn. He was married to Madonna, the most famous woman on the planet, for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I was CONVINCED this was Julia

    @Frufa
Hey lady! I've missed seeing you around here!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I say go Charlize! Get your revenge on!

Though I'm sad about the guys being Jonny Lee Miller just because I loved Eli Stone.

And if the part was for That Thing You Do which was early in her career and he was strictly a producer (not director or writer as in Tom Hanks) then he would be one of these guys: Jonathan Demme, Gary Goetzman, Edward Saxon. But now that makes this trivia from IMDb painted in a whole new light: According to Tom Hanks, Charlize Theron was the first actress to audition for her part and the first person to be cast in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  64. @Frufra,

I've been drinking Bloody Mary's all day and I can barely keep "up".

    ReplyDelete
  65. "Who else is A+?"

    Add Portman, Witherspoon.

And, please, strike Berry. She is no longer A+. Is she?

  67. Man, never expected CT to use the castingcouch :/ Makes me wonder, there have been many rumors about her with men (Keanu/Askars etc). Wonder if they did something to her too and we will see her seek revenge in the future.. xD
I understand her need to 'rub it in', that she is now succesful and doesn't need those guys from her past.. But still sending people flowers etc? I find that kinda creepy, eventually you will have to let go I think.
Also wondering if this was all pre-Stuart Townsend. Some people say Johnny Lee Miller was one of the guys, but she was still with Stuart back then (he even had a small cameo in Aeon Flux). Was she cheating on him, or does it mean it wasn't during the Aeon Flux days?

    ReplyDelete
  68. After much thought (and to my husband's chagrin for the amount of time I have spent on this) I am going to make a different guess about guy (asshole) #3 who was married to someone very famous. I am going to say the horrible movie was Reindeer Games and the guy was Ashton Kutcher. Simply because the timing of Aeon Flux seems wrong. In 2005 when Aeon Flux came out, Charlize was firmly in a relationship with Stuart Townsend. I can't see her cheating on him in such a serious way with Johnny. Just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Aeon Flux
    Johnny Lee Miller

but she had done Monster before this.....

Regardless, the woman has new standing in my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @Interplanet Janet: I agree. Timing doesn't seem right. Don't think she cheated on Townsend, think it was before him. *looks up CT-movielist*

    ReplyDelete
  71. This woman is flawless!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I gotta say I love this. Hollywood is cruel cruel cruel and the men hold all the power. These blinds are loaded with men using and abusing their power. Go Charlize!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Boo if Jonny lee is one of them. Loved him in mansfield park! Go charlize tho, id do it too if i had money.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That is amazing. The "Who's worthless now?" sounds like a line from that scene with Parker Posey in 'Waiting for Guffman' where she says, "Who's on top and who's on bottom now, huh?" Str8 Ballin'!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Thanks for the heads-up, Agent**It! What a moving tribute.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I spent way too long on IMDB, and I agree it has to be Peter Horton for the actor-turned director. People Enty's age remember he was a huge hearthrob on "30-Something", and that Michelle Pfeiffer was from about 1985 to 1996 the biggest superstar in Hollywood. She made lots of films, hit after hit and got great reviews. Funny how easy it is to forget how big she was.
Horton met Theron when he was single, on "2 Days in The Valley" Theron's "very early (actually second) film.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Also, it is interesting that Horton got a lot of press after he became a TV director, profiles in the top newspapers and magazines, obviously part of a PR campaign to get hired for films. Well, he started with television...and is still doing television. Never a film. So mission accomplished, Charlize!

  79. @Interplanet Janet The idea that the movie is Reindeer Games and the actor is Ashton Kutcher makes sense and makes me feel better. Most the stuff he produces does get cancelled rather quickly. I don't have to hate Jonny and I can hate Ashton even more now. Win/win!

    ReplyDelete
  80. The guys were dicks to her and I'm glad she mocked them about it. Too many people act in dickish ways without someone calling them out. Good for her.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Have to admit I love this. I would have done the same thing :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. I've got to say, I don't see this as carrying around negativity etc. I would so love to do the same to the guys who have f*cked me over during the past years and that's not me being negative, merely wanting to feel the power of a "f*ck you" so I would imagine that being in the position to actually do that, in Hollywood where, let's face it, is a den of yuckiness would feel amazingly liberating.

    I say go girl.

And I know I'm a new commenter to this site but I would just like to say I do enjoy reading all your comments, it's been a blast :)

    ReplyDelete

This was my favorite blind ! Good for her ! I would do the same thing to this men.
    Go Charlize !

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's sad she harbors so much bitterness and negativity and I'm sure she's surprised when it follows her around (which it does because you attract what you're attracted to)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous6:57 AM

I meant to say I would do the same things to these men.

    ReplyDelete
  86. omg!

    LOVE CHARLIZE!!!!

I was getting reading about all these actresses getting used by hollywood because of their lack of self esteem. This is great!
    0 pity for the guys

    ReplyDelete
  87. I think this is a much healthier way of getting your aggressions out than resorting to physical violence or living in quiet resentment. I can't say I blame her. Some people spend thousands of dollars going to therapy, but Charlize's method seems much more to the point and fun.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Can't believe anyone thinks this is "stalker" behavior. Why? How is calling an asshole out on his assholiness being a stalker? She isn't going near these guys. She's just sending them little reminders to make them feel as bad as they deliberately made her (and no doubt many other women) feel. Kudos to her!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I agree KittensRUs, it was being intentionally cruel for someone else to make the comments to her. They didn't have to act like jerks but they did. So why should she or anyone for that matter just suck it up? Doesn't that actually encourage the jerks to continue to act like jerks?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Reindeer Games makes sense w/Ashton, as according to January Jones, he called her some variation of "worthless" when they were dating and her acting career wasn't going anywhere and basically told her to give up. Not that there isn't a world of difference in talent between Charlize & January...but it would be in character.

    ReplyDelete
  91. As for her revenge tactics, a part of me thinks "Go Girl!" because all these guys are known users of women in the biz. For all the women I know (on both sides of the camera!) who have been used and thrown away, she's a heroine! Another part of me knows what the business is like. One day you're up, the next you're down. Two or three flops in a row and you're back at the bottom of the list, Oscar or no Oscar. And sadly, women in Hollywood tend to hit an expiration date between 35 and 45, depending on talent and quality of genes/plastic surgery. Tragically, I would say, given the fact that Nicholas Cage can still make movies as a romantic lead. Unless she can weather the aging passage in the way of a Meryl Streep or Helen Mirren, it's likely she won't be in that kind of hallowed position forever. You never know where the guys will be by then...and you don't always want to burn so many bridges in such a final way. It's not just the guys - it's their friends too. I know people who won't get hired because they had a tiff with someone who was a friend of a friend of a friend. It's later in life - when she's in her 50's, if she still wants to work, that this could come back and hurt her. But maybe she plans to take her F-U money and walk away? Hope so. I love her.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sick and sad, but not surprising given her family history.

I wish more people would learn that living well IS the best revenge. Leave those who stole your joy behind in the dirt and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  93. (And of course, speaking as a social worker, it goes without saying that if the person needs therapy/help first, by all means. But don't hold on to it forever if you can help it.)

    ReplyDelete
  94. @AKM, really like your perspective on this.. Hendrix too.

All that carrying a vindictive grudge for years communicates to those men is that they were right about her and their decision to dump her.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Guess Charlize will be sending flowers and a card to JLM when his terrible Sherlock reboot Elementary gets the axe. Hee.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I am utterly floored that when it's Charlize she gets all kinds of excuses and "oh, well the men lied to her and lead her on", but if this was Halle I don't think there would be so much support. Charlize is diagnosed here as "healthy with the good crazies" while Halle just has your standard run of the mill "Batshits".

    Very interesting observation.

    ReplyDelete
  97. And for those who aren't good with subtlety, Bubbles is saying we're all prejudiced.

    ReplyDelete
  98. @Bubbles
I think both Berry and Theron need major amounts of therapy, but Berry plays the victim! I think that's why there is so much more support for Theron than Berry.

Theron never portrays herself as the victim. Ever seen a Berry interview? Geez, it's victim central: "I lost hearing in one ear. I tried to make it work, but he was a sex addict. He was using me for my money." The list is endless with Berry! Just youtube any of her interviews with Barbara Walters.

Now juxtaposition Berry with Theron who never even discuses her exes.

I can see why more people would root for Theron. I'm saying her behavior is any better than Berry's though. These are two people not taking responsibility for their choices.

    ReplyDelete
  99. What @astrogirl said. Charlize is fucking awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I am so into this and am laughing at the stories about men using jobs to sleep with women, molesting underage girls, hitting their wives and such, but this woman writing Fuck You notes seems to warrant therapy. Just reminds me of Dylan’s lyrics, “How does it feel? To be all on your own. Like a complete unknown. Like a rolling stone...”
