Blind Items Revealed
April 19, 2012
This is the second in a series (hopefully) of crew members from different television shows and movies who are willing to share their thoughts or stories. This week brings us a guy in his 20's who does publicity for a television show which is in its first season.
I have only been in Los Angeles for a short time. I grew up in the Midwest and graduated from college there and made my way out here. I always wanted to work in Hollywood. I just didn't know how I was going to do it because I'm not good looking enough to be an actor. I came to that understanding a long time ago and have no sense of loss about being an actor. Directing was not an option because I don't have that kind of artistic vision. I am an artist though. My art just is in getting people to go see a movie or watch a show and make everyone and everything about the production look so good that you can't wait to see it. I'm on a show right now doing publicity. It's in its first year and the network is spending a ton of money to get people to watch so it has been really busy.
I wanted this job so bad. Not the working in Hollywood one, but this one. The one on this show. I wanted to meet the star of the show. I've had the biggest crush on her forever. Posters on the wall, day dreams, wet dreams, I've had them all for her. I remember that first day I saw her on set and go into her trailer. I died. I was f**king giddy. I know it will pass as I've been here longer, but that first time, I knew what it was like when all those girls scream at Bieber concerts. Can't describe the feeling. When I think about the feeling, I love it. I acted all cool about it but inside, I was busting out and this was just from across a parking lot.
When I actually met her, in person and shook her hand I almost froze. I had to talk to her about what we had planned for her and even though there were ten other people with her and doing things for her, she gave me her full attention. Her eyes just drilled right into mine and I could tell I had her to myself for those 45 seconds. Well, she made me feel like I did. And just like that it was gone. She concluded we had finished out business and she started making someone else feel like they were the only person. I wanted that feeling back. Hey, my turn. Over here. The tall blonde guy in the corner. Yo. Instead I was ushered out. It was kind of like a first kiss with someone. The first time is once in a lifetime but you never get that feeling back exactly again. I heard heroin is like that. That first time is euphoric and you spend the rest of your addiction always trying to get that same feeling but you don't, no matter how much you try.
I see my crush a few times each day and talk to her once or twice a day. She still makes me feel like I'm the only person in the world when she's talking to me, but I've seen her do it to so many people now and so many situations that I know it's a skill she has. A damn good one which is why she keeps going from one show to the next and a bunch of movies in between. I think all I've been hoping for is that she didn't disappoint my dream of her or fantasy and she hasn't. Can she be a pain? Oh yeah. But the good outweighs the bad. I just didn't want to have my dreams crushed with this one person. Others can disappoint me and have. But this one, my crush, I wanted to be just like I imagined. She has. She even got me a birthday card on my birthday and kissed me on the cheek. Framed the card. Don't tell anyone.
We all guessed this one.
ReplyDeleteStalker vibes...
ReplyDeleteI think I thought this one was Zooey D originally. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteShe's okay I guess.
ReplyDelete..the 1st across the finish line ..

Jennifer Love Hewitt -"The Handjob Show" *

*haha I thought that was funny:)
Seriously, whoever this guy is sounds really creepy and entitled.
ReplyDeleteHe sounds a bit stalkery, but, on the other hand, she is nuts and he could probably marry her if he put in a little extra work; after all, she does have those rings picked out at Tiffany already. She seems nice, if clingy -- better to marry him than to be Tom Cruise's next wife, as I've seen suggested!
ReplyDeleteWonder when Tom Cruise will send out the 'audition invite' to Jennifer...I could see them together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creeper!
ReplyDeleteAgent, I love that you are going back and giving props to the first person who guessed it. It's like a second treat to all of these reveals!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I know everyone hates on JLH but I love her - she might not be the best actress in Hollywood but she strikes me as genuine and I'm pleased to see her still working. Her latest endeavor on Lifetime is actually pretty good! <3
ReplyDeleteI don't think this guy is a stalker, he seems honest and he understands the situation and his position pretty well. About "She still makes me feel like I'm the only person in the world when she's talking to me, but I've seen her do it to so many people now and so many situations that I know it's a skill she has.". I wouldn't call it a skill, which makes it sound calculated. Why not give each person one's full attention when appropriate. I call it respect and courtesy. I wish more people were like that.
ReplyDeleteI heard from a number of people that Tom Cruise has this power too. Makes you feel like the most important person on the planet while he's engaged with you. Then he snaps his head to the next person, same attention and smile he just gave you is being given to somebody else. Then you feel like you just got slammed by a truck.
ReplyDeletehe should date amy adams
ReplyDeleteAhh young love.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I wonder that the intense staring wasn't to make sure the other person's eyes didn't dip below!
She's pretty much amazing to work with and one of the nicest people ever. She's very grateful for everything she has.
ReplyDeleteI read an interview with Cybill Shepherd who plays JLH's mother on this show and she says JLH is one of the geniunely nicest people she has ever worked with. I hope she notices you publicity guy!
ReplyDelete@ mrs.wigglepuppy - thank you !
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that @whocaresnow12
ReplyDeleteI am completely unashamed to say I adored Ghost Whisperer, soapy fun and a visual feast for my shabby chic loving eyes :)
That's the way to keep working, especially for a woman. Fine-tune your charisma, know your best angles.
ReplyDeleteNever take yourself too seriously.
I think those might be all the rules for remaining an actress.
Its good to hear that jlove is nice. Its refreshing to see that a celebrity actually appreciates their fame.

ReplyDeleteMiz, I loved the show too.

ReplyDeleteJ love just lost he mom so no snarky here. And making people feel like they are the only one in the room is an art form. I worked with a woman like that, she led men by the nose with that skill set.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton does this too.
ReplyDeleteLoving' the reveals and Agent's comments about firsts! What a treat!!
ReplyDeleteMany actors have this ability (make you feel like you're the only person on the planet). Politicians do too.
ReplyDeleteJLH sounds okay. I'm just glad I haven't had to hear about her de-zazzling her va-jay-jay (or whatever) lately.
The real shocker to this blind is that a straight, 20-something guy is a Publicist on a Lifetime show ;)
ReplyDeleteHenriette: SO true about Bill Clinton. He grew up so poor, he wasn't really faking 'feeling their pain.' The man WEPT with a random woman in 1992, about her prescription drug costs.
ReplyDeleteI shook his hand on a rope line, and kissed his cheek on another in 1992. I was almost shocked at first, that his cheek was ordinary, so strong was the power of his charisma, even for a moment!
I recommend that documentary PBS did about him this year. it was interesting to look back and watch him in action. He could have kept winning til he died, IMO, if not for term limits. Anyway, he would have RUN til he died. Love him or hate him, you will appreciate how good he was at politics-in-person.
Glad to hear she's a sweetheart. We need more of those in ol' Hollyweird!
ReplyDeleteI know there's a lot of JLove contempt here and that she tends to overshare but I can't help liking her. She just seems like a genuinely nice person.
ReplyDelete@libby
ReplyDeleteI did see that PBS series. The 90s seem so innocent now. I met Clinton in 1996 and was AMAZED! He knew his volunteers' names and so much about their lives. It was all genuine too. Heck, my own bosses can't keep the simple details of my life correct!
I'm a staunch independent, but Clinton was exceptional. He really does love people and for all of his weaknesses, he did/does want to help others.
He would have been another FDR if there were no term limits.
I often think Obama tries to emulate him, but is just a bit too stuffy and can't quite pull it off.
Crazy or not I still have a crush on this women *sigh*
ReplyDelete@__-__=__ - thanks !
ReplyDeleteI think this guy has exactly the sort of self-awareness & realistic expectations it takes to keep from being a stalker.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has crushes. This guy is levelheaded enough to recognize that JLH's focus on him as he spoke was never because he was uniquely special to her. A true stalker would think there was more between them based on that focus.
Ive reached the conclusion that I really like JLH based on the stuff ive read in this blog :)
