Adam Lambert Could Be Coming To American Idol
FOX keeps trying to think of new ways to get viewers, and would love to find some judges for the show who are under the age of 100. With Jennifer Lopez again saying she is not coming back to the show, Apparently FOX really would like Adam Lambert to be a judge. E! is reporting that the former Idol runner-up is a strong contender to appear on the show. E! would of course love nothing more than to have a Kardashian be a judge and remind Ryan Seacrest everyday to bring up a name. I think they think that since Kim Kardashian is "dating" Kanye West and made a pron tape with Ray-J that she is qualified to judge a music competition. I think Adam would be a good choice as a judge. I just wonder if he is really willing to give up touring for several months a year and already relegate himself to judging rather than performing.
I dunno, I always think those sort of judges are people who are past their prime, careers all but over. Isn't he trying to build his career?
ReplyDeleteI might actually watch AI for once if Adam Lambert were a judge.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, KK would be the final nail in ailing AI's coffin.
I think it would be a great idea (and to keep the judging panel fresh) if they invited back one former contestant each season who has had some mainstream success for a 1 season judging spot. We've had enough seasons now where there is enough talent to pull from to fill that slot for several seasons.
ReplyDeleteDon't give a care about AI, but have to say Adam looks really good there - think it's the grey/silver tipped hair. Very theatrical and unique!
ReplyDeleteWith shades of turquoise, too? Love that trend.
ReplyDeleteI love Adam Lambert and I also think Nichole has a good idea with the annual guest judge.
ReplyDeleteIf this is Idol's attempt to grab ratings from X Factor getting Britney Spears I don't think it's going to help them at all.
ReplyDeleteEnty's tweet a blind item reveal? Not that there was ever really anyone else that blind could have been about.
If Adam did this, it would be admitting that his career needs a major boost. It would be stunt casting. Nothing wrong with that, but he was supposed to be this big star straight off the show and I don't think it's gone as planned. It feels like they're trying to make him happen and it's not quite working yet. And at his age (30), he's got to hit the pop scene quickly.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be one thing if he had started as a teenager and was still on the scene in his 30s. But he started just a couple of years ago and ageism is going to kick in soon. Not fair, but that's how pop music tends to work.
I like Adam. I think his career started to slip after he kissed a male dancer on stage during a performance. He is talented and should try to get his name out there more so doing idol would get him more press. Jlo's career was on life support until idol. Now she has the nerve to say she isnt coming back. So it gives these folks mojo!
ReplyDeleteCan't stand JLo, and I think her music career is still dead.
ReplyDeleteLove Adam, his being a judge is the only way I would ever tune back into AI.
ReplyDeleteAdam is slipping? Wasn't his latest album #1 in sales recently? I'm not sure what list that was, Amazon downloads, or what. It seems to me he's doing pretty good. Coming back as a judge to AI wouldn't be a desperate attempt at a career boost, I don't think. I think it would be very flattering to his talent and personality to be the first contestant to judge. It would be another step forward in his career, a logical progression, precisely since he hasn't been around for long.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching during Ellen's season, not sure if he was on that one. I don't really know his music but if this is as big as star as they can get, it might be time to let the show go. It's already past it's prime.
ReplyDeleteit was number 1 but the lowest selling number 1 I read.
ReplyDeleteI say take the money funny, its the easiest gig in the world and he will make more sitting in a chair and exposure than he would touring Finland.
Even Kelly took a judging gig, I think the only one that won't have to do that is Carrie Underwood. She can sing the telephone directory and people will buy it.
I get the sense that this was never a real offer and was just put out there to get some attention for him and the show. Kind of like how Simon kept throwing every name out there for X Factor judge possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI think he'd be great at it. AI needs SOMEONE that tells the truth and mentors instead of "You're beautiful, that was great!" every single performance. He'd be helpful and honest.
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about JLo, but since Idol she's had several top 10hits. It revived her career big time.
ERASERHEAD!!!!
ReplyDeleteAt age 30 maybe he wants the celebrity more than the music, so it would be a great money grab if that's what he's going for. I doubt he would be any more "honest" than any of the other judges. In the end, they have an agenda - he wouldn't be exempt from that.
ReplyDeleteLOL. What's a pron tape? Something a Kardashian would do?
ReplyDeleteOh puleessee!! If Kimmy K becomes a judge, the ratings would fall faster than you can say Kayne.
I'd like to see him do it. Maybe I might watch it. With J.Lo on it I didn't bother.
ReplyDeleteLMAO he looks like a good luck troll doll!
ReplyDeletegood luck troll, lol -- I'm picturing huge plastic hands and feet
ReplyDeleteKelly Clarkson is a better singer than any of the contestants on Duets. I can't watch the show anymore because of that. They all kind of bore me next to her.
ReplyDeleteAdam would be interesting. It would be nice to see him get such a high paying gig, but I don't watch Idol and don't know if I would watch it just for him. The rest of the show is such a bad set up.
Kelly is the best singer on Duets but she didn't pick the greatest contestants and she doesn't have that much to say in her critiques. I thought she did a good job as a mentor on The Voice for some of the people on Blake Shelton's team.
ReplyDeleteI would still like to see some winners or successful contestants judge. Lord it'd have to be better than JLo, Randy and Steven.
I adore Adam--and he is very outspoken and I think he would have good critiques--and it might be an easy paycheck that would let him be home part of the year--he seems to be on the road constantly.
Children of the 70s, come on...sing it with me...
ReplyDelete"They call me Heat Miser,
What ever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch
I'm too much!"
Will not watch if Adam is a judge, or if Kim K is a judge. They should have someone on the show that people can look up to.
ReplyDeleteLoving the Troll Doll reference, and even more so the one to Eraserhead--Henry Spencer lives!
ReplyDelete@MissCrop609 -- Yes, a pron tape is something the KK Klan would and [at least one of them] has done. Somebody posted something re porn here a long time ago; 'porn' was misspelled as 'pron' and the poster decided [s]he preferred that spelling. It's been used off and on ever since.
ReplyDeleteThough truth be told, the term may have appeared earlier and/or elsewhere, but i saw it here for the first time, and i've liked it ever since. I keep seeing the image of a giant deheaded, peeled, deveined boiled prawn in place of the referenced pron star. From what i've heard, she showed about as much animation as a boiled shrimp in the tape. And the yellow substance that cascaded over her wasn't melted butter.
