Today's Blind Items - The Actress Who Won't Eat
This actress is a solid B list. Everyone knows her name and would recognize her instantly in pictures. She has been in the business for a long time, but only does movies and is not that old. When she was still a teen she was in a movie with a very well known actor at the time. Heck he still is. A very big actor. Anyway she was so enthralled with him that she would follow him around the entire time she was on set. When she became legal, he took her out to dinner and they had sex. He was dating someone seriously at the time so there was no way he was going to continue to see this fling. He told her when he left her that the reason was she was too big for him despite her probably weighing 100 pounds at the time. For the next five years, the actress was in and out of therapy and rehab because she refused to eat and thought that she would never get anyone again. Later they did something else together and she starved herself for a month before filming started, barely eating enough to stay functional. She thought he would be pleased, but he never even noticed her size although he did welcome the opportunity to sleep with her again. This time they had sex almost everyday of filming. Again at the end he dumped her and she said that she thought her world was over and had no idea what to do anymore. She did meet some special right after and he convinced her she was too thin and they began to work on her self-esteem issues together. She dumped him though when a chance meeting with her former flame happened. This time he convinced her they would be together forever, but again, it was not meant to be as he was still with the same woman as their second time together. For the past several years she has swung up and down health wise depending on her therapy and still believes that somehow she can get this actor who she thinks of the love of her life to notice her. When she knows they will be somewhere together is when it is the worst as she stops eating to the point of passing out but for the past few years he has not even acknowledged her presence even when they are in the same place.
I suck at these, but that's awful!

I realize Drew has done some TV, but they were TV movies -- and one of them was an HBO prestige project.
re: Ricci/Depp. was thinking the first movie was Mermaids but Depp wasn't actually in that, just remember her following him around since he was on set all the time (seeing Winona Rider). The later movies would have been F&L or Sleepy Hollow, when I believe Depp was seeing Kate Moss (100 lbs being too big for him). But, yeah, forgot he wasn't in Mermaids. Back to the drawing board.

ReplyDeleteJulia Stiles worked a lot as an older teen. She was in The Devil's Own with both Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt when she'd have been about 16 or 17. However, I'm not sure if she's worked with either of them since. Also probably not her since she was on Dexter. Of course some people don't consider working on premium channels like Cinemax, Showtime, and HBO as "tv".

In the mid-90s when she started making her comeback, Drew wasn't terrifyingly skinny, but she was tiny -- far smaller than she is today.

ReplyDeleteI also think, like many others that this could be Keira Knightly. She is a lot younger than I thought she was. According to IMDb, she was born in 1985. That would have made her illegal/barely legal while filming the first Pirates movies. She was also in "The Phantom Menace" which would have been filming when she was in her mid-teens. She has done some tv work, but not in the United States. Lord knows that she is scary skinny!!!

I think we can eliminate the Star Wars cross reference with Keira Knightley. She played Natalie Portman's character's "double" in the film. KK was literally on screen for 30 seconds. Dont think that's enough filming time to make an impact on the actor.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it is Keira Knightley - I remember several years ago when there were tabloid articles about a girl who got an eating disorder (or something?) supposedly because of how much she wanted to be like Keira, and Keira sued (and won) the tabloid and (as I recall) said a lot of body positive things about herself and naturally being that thin, and really attacking anyone who claimed that she didn't eat or had an eating disorder. This blind just doesn't feel like her.

This isn't Depp/Ricci. I do think Enty sometimes forgets or omits early TV work or guest parts when he says "no tv work" or the likes for an actress/actor. However Christina Ricci just had Pan Am. Whther it stunk and was cancelled is immaterial; it is TV work and is recent as 6 months ago, so this is not her. Plus, as has been said, I don't think this matches with what the public knows of Johnny Depp.

ReplyDeleteOf all the guesses so far, Ryder and Baldwin seem the most plausible. Beetlejuice was released in 88, and Great Balls of Fire in 89. Having trouble figuring out when they were filmed, though - on my phone.

Most people probably don't know who he is. I wouldn't if Remember the Titans wasn't one of my faves and I loved his character in it.

So this woman would have worked with the same man as a teen and again while in the 23 or older range.
It also mentions "for the past several years," (after all the drama) which indicates this has happened over a span of time. The woman has to be at least in her 30s or close to it.

She would have been 17, maybe he didn't sleep with her til after? There were some reports they may have dated. They worked together again 2 years later on Rules of Attraction.
But maybe it doesn't work because though he is a big name now, he wasn't really then.
so winona ryder and alec baldwin worked together again about 5 years after beetlejuice -a movie called looking for richard...but on another note, wasn't there a blind about a woman who would order food at restaurants and send it back multiple times stating that it was not right only to have them wrap it up so that she never had to actually eat - everyone thought it was kate beckinsale - she does fluctuate in weight from stick thin to straight emaciated looking.

when I was in HS I was a member of the band (so cool, right? I was a twirler) Anyway there was a gorgeous guy who played trombone. There was a plump freshman on the flute and boy did she have it bad for trombone boy (he was a junior) On a bet he told her that if she lost 50 lbs he would take her out. She lost the weight, he still blew her off.
Asshole. I remember comforting her as she cried. She didn't understand why he didn't say yes when she asked him out in her size 6 dress.

ReplyDeleteI was going out with this guy. He kept telling me I was fat and that I needed to lose weight. He could not be with a fat chick. So, one day I decided to break up with him because of it. He said that in order for us to get back together, I had to lose weight. I was 170 and 5'4. He wanted me to go down to 130. I know I won't ever go down to that, but I did starve myself for a while just to lose weight so he could see that I did love him.
Too bad I don't love him anymore.

I used to be naturally thin like that in my teens and 20s, and had to endure all sorts of cruel remarks about anorexia, even though I ate like a horse. Besides, in all the interviews I've read or seen with her, she strikes me as pretty together for an actress.Not the type to give up her life for a man. She's engaged, too.
ReplyDeleteThis just screamed Gwyneth Paltrow to me. She could certainly still be carrying a torch for some tool from years ago, even if she is married. And that girl never eats. Just look at the picture of her in the pics today. When she does eat, she talks about all kinds of raw food diets, vegan, etc. She even landed herself in the hospital within the last couple of years from a diet.

ReplyDeleteI was once engaged to and living with a colossal douche who had been fat as a child and his siblings made merciless fun of him being fat when he was growing up. He managed to starve himself down and work out and was a normal weight when I met him.
ReplyDeleteI was working as a model at the time. Rail thin. Extremely tall. And during our whole relationship he was immensely obsessed about my weight, convinced that I would become fat from, like, eating one single fucking cookie or whatever. I was already dangerously thin but starved myself down MORE to be with him. Dealt with scary blood sugar issues, mental fogginess, and depression from it. He was verbally abusive about ANY time he saw me eating food. He also took it upon himself to control all the food coming and going from the house. I only really ate when I was driving outside the home because I couldn't eat anything in the house.
Since I was stupid and 19, for a year or two I let him affect my self-esteem. I genuinely began to obsess and think I was too fat in the thighs or whatever, while dangerously close to anorexic levels.
This was all HIS doing. HIM being obsessed that I wasn't ever thin enough or was going to balloon up all of a sudden, when I'd never been overweight (and still am not to this day.)
Eventually I got the hell out of there. But because undereating made me unwell, it made it hard for me to hold down a job and have my own finances coming in, which made me more dependent on him, which made it harder to leave.
All such fucking men should be castrated the moment they "hint" that the lady in their life is too fat, or "suggest" that she shouldn't eat dinner that night because she's looking a little chunky, or whatever.
Castrated with a dull-edged kitchen knife, no anesthesia. :)

Renee Zellweger is an interesting guess. I remember when she and Jim Carrey were together, she seemed crazy about him. Then she did the Bridget Jones (1 or 2?) and went to London to gain weight and film. He lost interest promptly and it really seemed the weight was an issue. She seemed obsessed with dieting after that. Carrey doesn't work here because I don't think there were any movies but I've always thought that breakup caused her weight obsession.
ReplyDeleteNaughtyNurse, I like your guess. Goopie does not eat solids that's obvious. She is sickly thin looking and constantly talks/writes as though she is a health nut. It may be Goopie Gwennie, but let's face it all of these young starlets at times look too thin. I thought it was due to the biz, not trying to get a guy.

It's not about the weight. They do it to lower the woman's self esteem and it makes the man the one holding the power in the relationship.

I checked out Kate B's resume and she never works with the same actor twice, besides Josh Lucas, but doubt it's him since the last movie they do together is directed by Kate's now-boyfriend. If he knew about all the drama surrounding the guy, he wouldn't have hired him.

Kirsten Dunst also seems a good guess (lots of rehab, substance-abuse, very skinny), but haven't looked at her IMDB yet:p
I like the Winona Ryder guess - she has always seemed super fragile to me. And Alec Baldwin is 100% asshole, I could see him doing something like this just for kicks.

The age is all wrong (she was 22 at Titanic), but the weights are right — there's even a recent KW interview where she comments he's fatter than her now.
She's constantly on about her body image. I think they like each other, and she wears a ring he gave her on her wedding ring finger. But I can see him only liking skinny models. And she obviously has some issues with how she views her weight (past and present).
Take out the "became legal" bit, and her being 100lbs at the time (she def. was not), and I'd go KW.
