So Does This Mean Regis Comes Out Of Retirement

It seems like Hollywood always comes full circle. Whether it is a movie or real life, it just seems to happen that way. Hoda Kotb is probably going to be named the new replacement on Today next week which means that Kathie Lee Gifford will be all by her lonesome. So, what to do if you are producers of her 18 hours of broadcast time? You could just put more batteries in Kathie Lee or just pull her cord out further. I'm not sure which system she is actually on to get her to talk so I apologize for not knowing if she is battery or cord. What the producers could do is walk a few blocks over to Regis Philbin's house. He gets up at 4am so feel free to drop by early. Then they can ask him to come over and and just help out with Kathie for a few weeks. Ten years from now they will both still be there and everything comes full circle.

  1. I think Kathie would hate it becuase it would make her second banana again to Regis.

I say let Kathie fly solo and let her train wreck herself with terrible interviews where she is woefully ill prepared but soused on white wine.

  2. Cancel that fourth hour because it's a waste of time anyway.

Regis would love it because he is on every talk show he can book! This guy never retired.

  3. Kathie will be happy she's working...

  4. I'd say I'd like to see them together again if I actually watched those morning shows. Instead, I usually put on some yoga music and drink copious amounts of coffee while I tell myself that I'll start doing yoga tomorrow.

    2. Wow...thank you Sherry. That means so much to me. I started coming here for the blind reveals but found that I enjoy the comments as much as the articles. I lurked for at least a year before I piped up. I'm glad I did. Thanks again.

  5. Regis said he didn't have a choice to stay, didn't even get to negotiate.

I don't mind Kathie Lee so much IF she is with someone else who can temper her, which Regis can do since he's one of the few who can out talk her in quantity and volume.

  6. Who is Hoda Kelp and why does that mean Kathy will be alone? I don't watch Today so forgive me for having no clue.

  7. I keep reading that Savannah Guthrie is the likely Curry replacement so there would be no reason to move Hoda.

  8. I quit watching Today after Meredith came--the content of the show became very different--I rarely watch unless there is some big story on. Hoda would be excellent--she has the news chops and is very likeable. I only know Savannah from her cable news stuff. I am sorry for Ann but it sounds like she will make out financially and she should never have been chosen to be host--she was not the right person to be in that role. It's embarrassing --she seems like a really decent person --but this is the network who screwed up with Conan and Leno--they did the same thing on Today with Jane and Deborah....this is more of the same good management.

  10. I understand that Matt and Ann don't have the chemistry but I think it really sucks that Ann is getting the shaft. And who on earth decided to put Hoda Kotb in her place? Talk about a bigger yawn fest!!!

  11. Oh, I hope not. I watched KLG & Regis on Friday and it was awful. She & Hoda barely get through segments because Kathie is constantly running her mouth and or making it about her. On Friday, Regis spent half of the show asking the same questions 3x each and trying to figure out where he was. Yes Hoda is qualified, but I like watching her on the 4th hour. She's having fun (getting buzzed) and balances KLG out. Plus, why should she suffer with that d-bag Matt? He's a chip off the old Gumbel.

  13. Ick. Reege needs to hang it up forever. I bet Hoda doesn't want to switch over. She's got a sweet gig and she knows it!

  14. Cord or battery? She runs on alcohol, didn't you know Enty?

I cannot stand KLG - I hope they just cancel the 12th hour or whatever it is. Though if she has to stay, I'd want Regis because he was able to reign her in.

  15. Didn't Reege get his tighty whities in a twist when he was asked to pay cut? I thought he just threw out the retirement card because he was miffed, but didn't really plan to leave. He wasn't expecting to hear "don't let the door hit you in the ass" from Gellman.

I've liked him for years, but he was really getting out of touch and heading into Larry King terrority.

I like Hoda with KLG and I hope NBC keeps them together. They're a good team.
