  4. @msgirl I never saw his BBC interview. The only things I've seen were the trouble that he was in recently. Regardless, it's a short life. Hopefully, he is now at peace.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear this - life in general seemed to be such a struggle for him. What a sad end. I wish him peace.

  7. Sad but not unexpected. He could never get over chasing his demons. Prayers to his family.

  8. This makes me really sad. He seemed like such a sweet man on C.Rehab. I remember the Seattle riots were held on our prom night.

  9. Countdown to Dr. Drew going on TV to say something "profound" about this.

    1. Considering that the two of them stayed very close I don't see why not, and there's nothing wrong with a friend remembering a friend.

  10. He was sweet, and I was praying for him. He just wrote a book this year, trying to turn it all around. RIP Rodney.

@surfer - you know that asswipe is going to milk this for all he can. Dr. Drew, Kim K. and LiLo all need to get on that ride to Uranus ASAP. And stay there.

  13. Oh, this made me cry.

I watched Celebrity Rehab and I loved him. He was so gentle and he just forgot to love himself as much as others loved him.

    RIP, Rodney.

  17. he seemed like a tortured soul and after he got all that money from LA it seemed things got worse not better.

Hopefully he finds some peace on the other side.

  18. Wow this is heartbreaking. I watched him on Celeb Rehab and Sober Living as well and really was pulling for him. He has children so to be found on Father's Day will be a horrible reminder for the rest of their lives (not that any other day would be easier but while their friends are celebrating their own fathers, they will remember his death). He had a very good heart and this is just terrible news.

  20. A sad short life and an inspiring person at the same time, I will never ever forget him saying "Can't we all get along?", thank you Rodney and RIP my friend.

  21. Sis, that's what I remember about him too. When things get ugly with my family I sometimes use that line. Smh. I feel relief for him. His struggles here have ended. RIP Rodney and thank you.

  23. I've met him before, he's a piece of trash and he was not sweet, not unless he was be fawned over. He should have been in prison many times over. Booze wasn't his only problem, he loved the PCP. So long, sucker!!!

  24. His simple question "Why can't we all just get along?" will live right up there with Churchill's "Blood, sweat, toil and tears" and "Never have so many owed so much to so few" among memorable 20th century quotes. RIP.

  25. Dead just one month after the 20th anniversary of the LA Riots after his beaters were acquitted.

He died in the area of So Cal that I grew up in. It's a shame he could never get his act together and get over his addictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered a little brain damage from that beat down. Rest in Peace, Rodney.

  26. Poor guy. Yep, I saw him on Celebrity Rehab or Sober House or whichever show that was. Seeing him talking about the beating incident with Dr. Drew made me think about him in a different light. Having booze and/or drug problems to begin with, then getting beating on tape, and having the whole L.A. riot stuff as follow up, and everyone knowing his name and the "catchphrase" (not really one, but you know what I mean)...well, all of that piling up and up and up, I would imagine was incredibly tough to deal with...I feel genuinely sorry for this guy...again, from the shows I mentioned, he seemed so quiet and sweet and broken...RIP, dude...

  27. With all the celebs that have been in Dr. Drew's "care" that have died from od'ing or at least still addicted, how is this man still making a living claiming to help people? I think everyone has relapsed and if they are not dead, they are headed there. I don't think he has actually helped anyone.

  28. I was thinking the same thing about him being dad and it being Father's Day, SaintsFan. Poor guy, his poor kids, it's just a sad situation all around.

  29. I was surprised at how little the 20th anniversary of the L.A. riots were covered by the news. I was in L.A. at the time, and it was SCARY.

A lot of people attributed his beating to the riots, but if you lived down there before, you would know there was a LOT of racial tension going on.

It was also during the time of Arizona not recognizing MLK day in January of 1992. I think the cops getting acquitted was just the match that lit the gasoline.

It's sad about his death, but if it hadn't been him, it would have been something else to set Southern Cal off.

  31. The problem with Dr Drew is: A) he is not an addict/alcoholic so he is not qualified to help people with addiction problems except from a clinical basis B) he does it for money so his motives are questionable C) nothing about Drew's shtick is anonymous, it's played out on camera so how can anybody be real, esp. addicts. I was married to an addict for many years..Drew says "if an addict's lips are moving, he/she is lying". Tru dat! So compound the problem by putting them on camera. Co sign Drew helps no one but himself. So sad about Rodney King..the guy never had a chance.

I think Dr. Drew is addicted to himself. Plastic surgery addiction perhaps? He's helpful to people though and that's worth alot.

  33. Rip Mr King. Just too sad for it to happen on Fathers Day. He tried his best.

  35. Sorry, Dr Drew is eminently qualified. He's an expert in his field. You may not like him for whatever reason, but he is who he is.

As for why his patients die, drug addiction is a terminal disease. If the addict doesn't stop, either through rehab or prison, he'll end up dead.

  36. Rodney King RIP, I will always remember him saying "Can We All Just Get Along?".

  37. RIP I hope he is happy and has found peace. 2012 is turning out to be a hell of a year of loss only half way through it.

  38. A lot of people have already said what I was going to, so I wont repeat too much, I saw him on celeb rehab and sober house as well, hope he's in peace now.

  39. To be honest, I hope he's burning in hell. He's the male version of Lohan (all of them). I'm sorry he fooled all of you.

  40. What an ignorant thing to say. Addicts don't deserve to "burn in hell."
