Rihanna Used A Body Double In Commercial
There has not been a good body double controversy in awhile. The last one I remember was the Black Swan one. Back in the day I think you just assumed that if there was a commercial or television show or movie and a scene involving an actress and a body part but no face that it was a double. Times have changed though and now more often than not it's not a body double. But, with Rihanna's new commercial for Armani, she does use a body double. Anytime you don't see Rihanna's face in the shot, the model being used is Jahnassa Aicken who is an Irish model and signed a confidentiality agreement so Rihanna would get credit for something that is not really her. In movies and television, I don't mind body doubles so much, but in a commercial, you are selling a product. Not that I have a chance of ever looking good in the Armani underwear David Beckham sells, so it doesn't really matter if he uses a double.
The Forehead!
ReplyDeleteIf there's an agreement, then who talked?
ReplyDeletejust becuase the model signed a confidentialy agreement doesn't mean the crew did.
ReplyDeleteWHY is she using a body-double? She's practically naked on Twitter all the time.
ReplyDeleteAmber, right?
ReplyDelete^Exactly!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what she is trying to hide...
ReplyDeleteRiRi's small on top, but she does have some thighs and ass. Maybe that's just too much junk for Armani.
ReplyDeleteBefore anyone yells at me, I'm not calling Rhianna fat. But she doesn't have model skinny thighs. Maybe this was the reason?
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's gotten chunky from all of her partying. Alcohol bloat is a total bitch.
ReplyDelete@nola - snap!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is easier to use a body double than cover up tattoos?
ReplyDeleteShould have just used Jahnassa totally. Rihanna's such a skank, I'm surprised people would buy anything she touched.
ReplyDeleteTwo things...we have all seen Rhianna's body so there's really nothing to hide there. And two...if her body type isn't right for the clothes then they should use someone else. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI wanna know if the guy who plays Roger Sterling used a body double in last night's Mad Men. Yowza!!
ReplyDelete@amber - exactly. Why bother?
ReplyDeleteI saw that too Chopchop! I think that was really him. He looks like he's in good shape with his clothes on. But naked Roger was a very nice surprise! When I hear body double I always think of Flashdance. That was a big deal in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteLook at the above pic of Rihanna that's clearly her- she's SO skinny! I think this is a window into the total fucked-upness of fashion where models really have to be practically androgynous-looking to display fashion labels.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rihanna totally has ass and thighs that many women have (albiet on a smaller scale cause she is pretty toned/thin/in shape. But because fashion practically demands it's women have boy-like zero to no hips and ass and breasts this in great shape woman needed a fucking body double!
So lame.
If anything girlfriend coulda used a hair double- cause all I've gotta say about that wig/forehead cover-up action is day-um.
Maybe the double was used because of Rhi Rhi's tattoo's, which could be distracting from the ad.
ReplyDelete@chopchop & Megerz--Has anyone done a freeze-frame of that scene yet? When they gave the obligatory "there's nudity coming up" caveat at the beginning of the show, I had no idea it was going to be Roger Sterling's ass! And yes, he does look pretty damn good... ;-) (BTW, was he supposed to be tripping then? And since when did foreplay involve asking someone to hang out while you drop acid? I know it was the '60s, but damn...)
ReplyDeleteI wonder who made the decision to use a body double. Rihanna has a great toned figure.
ReplyDeleteGood point about using a double to avoid Riri's classy tattoos. It was probably cheaper and quicker to use a double than to hide the artful gun she has tattooed on her thigh or the thought-provoking swear words she has written on her.
ReplyDeleteI hate Rihanna. Why would I want any product she endorses?
Nolachickee I agree, probably just to hide her normalish thighs and ass. She's soo skinny though now. Hasn't it been confirmed that men like a little softness and curves? This thinness business is so frickin ridiculous, healthy, and toned is great but boyish, bony, hungry girls have got to go!
ReplyDeleteLOL, so ent lawyer doesn't think that pretty much all products in commercials have "doubles"?
ReplyDeleteDoes your Big Mac ever look like the print/tv commercial?
Does the food in the grocery store ever look like the food in the grocery sale newspaper inserts?
Does the your carpet ever look as clean as the one in the vacum commercials.
Are you upset to know that the actor in your favorite action flick is not the actual guy falling off the building? Do you ask for a refund at the theatre because of that?
I guess next you'll be upset to know that game shows, talent shows and pro sports are rigged.
Not seeing the big deal here.
I always notice the body doubles during scenes of shows. I should have made a drinking game out of it. There are little tells that it is a double in a scene where the actor/ess is shot from the back--like the hair doesn't look right, or the side bangs are shorter. And I too agree that it is most likely her tattoos that brought up the need for a double.
ReplyDeleteThe only body double I remember was Julia Roberts' one from Pretty Woman. The body double was shorter and had boobs.
ReplyDeleteOver Rhianna. Also I agree with you guys why is she using a body double if she is so happy to post nudie pics on twitter all the time? Ergh.
ReplyDeleteI just watched the ad and you can clearly see her tattoos. Maybe they used her for the butt shots....
ReplyDeleteHave a look for yourselves there's a clip after the article.
