When I was in high school, I only ever watched GSN because I had suuuuuch a crush on him and one of his shows was almost always playing.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Richard Dawson. You skeezy sexy man.
So sad! 'Hogan's Heroes' was one of my favorite shows growing up. I watched it every day after school. My mom hated it because she didn't think it was appropriate to make a comedy about Nazi concentration camps.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Richard Dawson. :(
Mad, my dad too used to get upset by that show. He was in a german pow camp for 2 yrs, and he wld say it's NOTHING like that at all.
DeleteI remember the days home from school being sick and would watch all the daytime shows. Family Feud had some funny moments.
ReplyDeleteDawsone is Awesome!
That just ruined my day. RIP, Mr. Dawson.
ReplyDeleteRIP Mr. Dawson. Survey says that you're in heaven.
ReplyDeleteRIP
ReplyDeleteand I am embarrassed to say I thought he had passed away ages ago.
RIP, Richard. He was wonderful on "Match Game." He was also married to Diana Dors.
ReplyDeleteI also had a crush on the guy. He seemed like such a flirt. Is there anything gossip worthy for a reveal maybe for newyears? I think the 4th would be too soon if its really juicy. I think they estimated him to have kissed 20,000women during the course of his show. He even married a contestant.
ReplyDeleteHe was like a rock star without being in a band.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Gladys!
ReplyDeleteBrenda Love, too!
ReplyDeleteawww..rip mr. dawson. i loved the family's statement. very gracious and loving.
ReplyDeleteMan, this makes me very sad. I loved him in Hogan's Heroes, and Family Feud - forget about it - one of the best game shows ever! I've got to call my brother and tell him - we spent many, many hours watching Richard Dawson.
ReplyDeleteIt may crush my brother - he was devastated when Charles Nelson Reilly died. Match Game was the creme dela creme of game shows.
Crappy morning so far. Newkirk passes away and i step in dog shite out front of my building. Smh
ReplyDeleteSo sad. I had such a crush on Richard Dawson when I was a kid. He would crack me up so much with his facial expressions when people would give stupid answers. RIP Richard Dawson
ReplyDeleteI just remembered one of the stupid answers someone gave on family feud
DeleteQuestion : during what month does a pregnant woman begin to look pregnant?
Answer: September
Richard Dawson almost pissed his pants laughing and had to walk off camera to compose himself!
Always loved Dawson on Match Game, especially when he'd get into semantical arguments with Gene Rayburn over the validity of his answer/guesses, and when Eva Gabor would show up and he'd start hitting on her.
ReplyDeleteMatch Game may not have been the greatest game show of all time, but it was definitely the funniest.
RIP Richard. Thank you for making my summer mornings in the 70s and 80s when school was out.
Oh no, sad, sad, sad.
ReplyDeleteRIP Mr. Dawson.
I'm so glad you posted The Running Man photo. He was psycho and awesome but not for once did I stop loving Newkirk or Family Feud kissypants guy because of that role. He chewed that scenery and stole the show from Arnold.
ReplyDeleteFond memories as a kid watching him on Match Game and Family Feud.
ReplyDeleteAll black women loved him because he kissed them on the lips on Family Feud.
I think he was a true original. He did marry a contestant.
ReplyDeleteThere are no words to express just how awesome Richard Dawson was. For all of you too young to know this, I'm sad for you.
ReplyDeleteRunning Man for life baby!
ReplyDeleteNever forget The Butcher of Bakersfield.
Match Game always was and always will be my favorite game show. I was devastated when Gene Rayburn died too.
ReplyDeleteYou guys all had such wonderful things to say about him, I would want to say the same things.
RIP you sexy man!
God, I thought I was the only person who had a crush on Richard Dawson ! I was just a kid, but he was so funny and sexy. He just had such a good vibe about him.
ReplyDeleteRIP Mr. Dawson !!
He was an important part of Match Game. I loved watching it again with adult eyes on GSN. Can you imagine a game show where the smoked and drank now?
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother loved how he kissed the girls. I think she had a crush on him too.
Supposedly, when was the host of Family Feud, only two women refused to let him kiss her.
ReplyDeleteVery sad. Best game show host ever!
ReplyDeleteHe radiated friendliness and good humor. Neat guy. RIP.
ReplyDeleteMatch game was the greatest show ever, I think it spoiled me for every game show that followed. I loved those rare times when the pun was so obvious but the contestant somehow missed it, and all 6 celebs on the panel had the same answer. Loved Fannie Flaggs tshirts with eggs and assorted things over her breasts.
ReplyDeleteI only watched family Feud because of Richard Dawson, once he left I wasn't interested anymore.
RIP in peace Mr Dawson, kiss my mother up there for me please.
this guy was funny, but sexy...i noticed even when i was a young girl...

ReplyDeleteRuined my day... One of my best childhood memories is watching Family Feud with my great grandad. Sigh......
ReplyDeleteThank you all for validating my crush on him. He was so damn sexy and that accent too.
ReplyDeleteI loved watching The Match Game as a kid.
When I was a kid, we'd fantasize about going on game shows and winning lots of money. I imagined my family in matching clothes on Family Fued, and all of us being embarrassed by my mom's guesses (we imagined it to amazing detail). Anyway, when it came to "reality" I didn't want to actually go on the show because I didn't want a "creepy old guy" (and smoker!) kissing me, my sisters, or my mom. Only two women declined the kiss? Wow.
ReplyDelete"you skeevy sexy man". bwahahaha!!! love it!
ReplyDeletehe had a good life RIP
