Random Photos Part Two - CMT Awards

I noticed at the CMT awards there were a whole lot of people there who have nothing to do with country music.

Ashley Greene
Kristen Bell, who hosted because of her huge string of country hits.
Denise Richards because she once slept with a country singer.
Hayden P because she wants to play a country singer.
Look, someone who at least sings country music. Carrie Underwood.
Jordin Sparks. Well, she is a little bit country and a lit bit rock n roll.
Jennie Garth because she has a show on CMT so they had to invite her.
Toby Keith. Now there is a guy who belongs.
Tony Hawk. Country singers skateboard. Haven't you ever seen Garth Brooks do a frontside ollie?
Neal Schon and Michaele Salahi.

Gag re: Michaele Salahi. And Neal has had really, really BAD work done.

You'd think with her millions, Carrie could get her roots done. And I hate her shoes.

I like Kristen and Denise's dresses.

  2. Wonder if Salahi is going to exchange Neal for a country singer...

  3. The roots thing is a style now...it's done on purpose.

    1. Nobody wearing Prada would ever do that!

  4. I am loving Denise's hair.
    Michaele is trash.
    Tony Hawk has druggie eyes.

  5. Man, there are Country Music Awards every two months. If it was the 90's when I was an ultra couch potato I would be livid.

Agreed, Ingrid Superstar. Also, what they call country music really isn't. I can't stand any of the newer "stars".

  7. Amen, Syko. I like Keith Urban, Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney, and Miranda Lambert. And that's IT.

(Well, King George, of course, always, and Garth, even if he also helped blur the country-pop lines.)

And I'm from Tennessee, so it all makes me sadz these days.

  8. If you live in southern california, and were sitting outside about five minutes ago, and you heard someone yell, "Oh for f***s sake, how the hell'd she get in there???", I fess up, it was me, after I saw the pic of Micahela Salahi.

Excuse me, I have some cats to peel off the ceiling now.

    Gag.

  9. Is Ashley Greene's hair messy or does she have a zigzag part? Did she fall out of a time machine?

  10. Jennie needs to do something with her hair. It is not flattering to her at all.
I love that Jordin Sparks is with Jason Derulo. I don't know why, but I do.
I can't look at Kristen Bell w/o hearing (in tears) "He's coming to the party?" LMAO

Dontrain, I know that the whole roots thing is a style now. It's still dumb looking. I don't care how much they try to dress it up by calling it "ombre" or whatever, dark roots just always look trashy and lazy to me. Yuck. (Full disclosure -- I dye my hair and make damn sure I never have dark roots.)

  12. Country music became my refuge when grunge held sway in the nineties. Couldn't STAND grunge. Hey, Patty Loveless, anybody? I loved her. Then we finally got a decent alternative radio station where I live and country music and I were done. Every once in a while though, I'll miss some of those artists, but everything coming out of Nashville the past decade and change has left me utterly cold.

Call me crazy, but you know who Hayden could play, looking at that picture? Jane Powell, when she was a wee baby thing and starring in Royal Wedding and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Too bad her life hasn't been super scandalous....

  13. Carrie Underwood has fabulous legs which look stumpy as a result of those damn straps. Take note people, NOT a good look!

  14. lol, anita_mark, "time machine".

I thought I invented the zig-zag part, back in the day. i swear, about a year before I EVER saw it anywhere, I woke up with a zig-zag part and LOVED it. Then, when I started seeing it on tv, I had to stop. It made me very sad to lose it.

Hey! I was very fashion-forward for Indiana, in those pre-internet days.

  15. Denise looks fab. Underwoods upper lip keeps getting thinner- opposite of trout pout, lol. And those frigging ugly ass shoes!!!!!!!!! Ladies, big, black, chunky and clunky shoes DO NOT go with evening wear!!!!!! Looks like crap.

  16. It must feel so odd for Michale Salahi to get to go somewhere she is actually invited. Note the flat sandals and curly stance to try to not be taller.

  17. OMG Comma Chaser, you really made just LOL!

I love country music but I am not to impressed with the "new" stars. Except for Carrie Underwood, do not need any more AI people coming over.

I love Keith Urban! Even though I consider him new country music. Also love Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bently and Gary Allan. Miranda is my favorite female and she puts on a kick a&& show.

  18. Underwood has awesome legs.

CMT wants you for the red carpet if you are a "sexy" blonde.

  19. Denise looks great. Hey if shitty reality stars can "act", non country artists can go to awards shows, I guess.

  20. Anongkhla... Do you mean alternative country? (Americana?) because I love that too!

All I can find around here is top 40 Country.

Love me some Tift Merritt and Rosie Flores....

anongkhla, I LOVE Patty Loveless. I'm older than anyone else around here, so the stars I like are the really old ones...Willie, Waylon, Merle. I'll confess to falling for Garth Brooks after seeing him in concert, I'd just gone because a friend had six tickets he couldn't get rid of, so I bought one, and ended up on my feet screaming all night, in spite of having the flu and a 102 degree fever, he is an amazing entertainer.

I just don't get the new stuff. I don't know what Taylor Swift with her little voice and her teen-angst songs is doing to deserve "entertainer of the year" awards. Shouldn't that mean something? Like you've paid your dues and entertained a helluva lot of people?

My all time favorite though is Ian Tyson, he's Canadian and doesn't get much play in the US (most decent country singers don't) but I simply love his stuff.

  22. I think Neal Shon would like nice if he stated cross dressing....he would make a very believable mature lady.

  23. Neal and Michelle. You saved the best for last!

  24. No, I meant alternative rock, not alternative country. Once grunge started to fade, alternative rock was right up my alley.

I think there must be alternative country these days that I'd like, but it's really hard to suss out who's good. If it's not top 40 country, it's like it doesn't exist. I'm going to check out Ian Tyson and Tift Merritt and Rosie Flores! Country and I may have parted ways, but a good song is a good song, regardless of genre, has always been my motto.

(And no judgment about Garth Brooks! I didn't/don't love his music, but I have always been able to tell he was v. talented. I could always understand the fuss about him, unlike a lot of popular artists.)
