It's Over For Oprah

If you thought Oprah interviewing the Kardashians was bad, it is about to get a whole lot worse. Pushing herself to the lowest common denominator possible, Oprah has agreed to appear on Keeping Up With The Kardashians as a return favor for all of them appearing on her show. I think the Kardashians are hoping that Oprah appearing on their show will give them some type of credibility they would never get otherwise. Why not have Oprah just move in with them so she could go the entire way and really sell herself out.

  1. You're using the phrase "common denominator" incorrectly there, Enty.

No he's not. There's a non-mathematical sense of the phrase that means the widest (and stupidest) possible audience.

  2. I've never been an Oprah fan, but I have to think she is really regretting ending her talk show. Does anyone know? It just seems like she's grasping at straws now.

  3. I seriously can't think of a more hateable hour of television. Can't stand Oprah, and the Kardashians have to be some sort of government torture device, I just know it.

  4. Shame on you Oprah. Shame on you. You used to be a positive force on TV and now you're just a pawn. You're wealthy beyond what any of us can imagine. Retire. Spend time with your dogs. Eat. Shame on you for appearing on that worthless show with worthless people.

  5. Wow. Oprah has been removed off of my list of women who young girls can look up to. The fact she is stooping so low to even acknowledge that sick twisted family - for mere ratings disappoints me to no end. She's friggin' OPRAH! What is wrong with her that she would have no self-respect and play in the gutter after all these years of being a strong self-respecting woman.

Oprah has truly disappointed me. She is now in the same rank as the morons she just recently interviewed.

  6. i guess even Oprah isn't above shilling for ratings. She was so high and mighty when she stopped doing the Jerry Springer-type shows, and here she is on the Kardashian Klan shit? So dead to me now, O...

  7. The Big O gave up long ago. I think this whole thing was orchestrated by the Discovery Chanel execs.

  8. I seriously doubt she will be on the show for longer than five minutes.

  9. Whatever happened to goin out on top? RIP Oprah's relevance.

  10. Agree with @Susan. . .I wasn't a fan of her show but she now seems to either regret leaving or just can't handle not being at the top of the game anymore and so is making stupid decisions like this.

  11. I never ever ever thought that Oprah was so ego hungry, that she would stoop to attempt to stay on top (not realizing she would have always been on top). If she had just left her show and quietly retired, she's still be on top as a legend...forever. Apparently that wasn't good enough for her.

  12. Oprah prob forced somehow to do it. Idk what the hell shes doing.

  14. Figgy...I think himmmmm is the original Enty. This is still the blog I read most often, but the posts aren't the same as they were back in the beginning. They just don't seem to be written in the same voice. The original posts were just different, more like the himmmmm posts?

Just an observation by someone who has been around here since the beginning. Not trashing anyone.

  15. Stillhere, it isn't a different writer, it's burnout. There's no way to maintain that initial enthusiasm after all these years. You can still see the "old Enty" when he posts about something that inspires him.

  16. OOoh, Oooh, maybe they can all go camping! Must Miss-TV at its best!

  17. BattaNoKami, yes! They can go camping with Sarah Palin and she can "accidentally" shoot them all.

  18. There are different writers, some not so good.

@stillhere, sorry for your loss. OMG, can't imagine what you and your family went through. Hope you all are OK.

  19. Kris Jenner must have epic voodoo in her hip pocket. That's the only logical reason I can come up
    with.

  20. I stopped liking Oprah when she became all holier than thou - but I watched the camping trip and thought it was pretty funny! She should do the road trips more often. It makes her seem more real and less diva-ish!

  24. Oprah is a big fat asshole. She fits in quite well with the Kardashians. Want them all to go away...just go away. and wtf happened to the Kardashian-Free zone here? seems like they are showing up everyday! I am the embodiment of vitriol today!

Yes hard to be "inspired" to write when it's about the new generation of "celebrities". Nothing is private, nothing is off limits, and what counts as a star these days are garbage like the Kartrashians, RHOA and the whole series of Real Housewives...How can you enjoy writing about such garbage people?
Does anyone in the entertainment business have any morals? Nope
Are any of them interesting? Nope
Does anyone care about their latest antics? Nope

  28. Ironic that people come to a gossip site to bash the Kardashians and Oprah.

Let's face it this isn't the WSJ and we are not members of MENSA.

Does it make you feel smarter to bash them?

    Waste of time.

  31. How much money, Oprah? How much money will it take to satisfy you? You're already mega-wealthy, and that's a good thing. You worked hard, you're talented, you earned it. But now this. Why? Why would you sell eternal soul to the great Satan? I hope it was worth it, because you're tainted with their whorish skank stank forever more.

  32. O should let CDAN readers plan her programming. We could give her lots to talk about:)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Everyone seems to forget that Oprah's talk show was originally the Jerry Springer of its time. This doesn't surprise me in the least. In fact, it seems like a pairing made in famewhore heaven.

  34. @Worst, how, exactly,is it ironic? Do you have thoughts on how WE SHOULD be conducting ourselves?

what the fuck oprah? you officially suck.

  36. As a latch-key kid of the late eighties through the mid nineties I watched Oprah every day after school. I love her and probably always will. My mom used to joke that no one could say anything negative about O in my presence without incurring my wrath.... but there's a lot of you guys and only one of me so I think I'll leave now.

  37. Maybe she's going to pull up in a stretch limo, ring the door bell and borrow a cup of Splenda. Or she'll shop at one of their boutiques that sell the Kartrashian third world sweatshop fashions. For her dog. The possibilities are ENDLESS. Whatever the scenario, Kris and Kompany will have their heads firmly burrowed up Oprah's ample ass.

  38. MLE, don't take it too seriously. She had a tremendous run and her starting point in life was unbelievable. She just got too preachy for a lot of folks.

My husband blames 'The Oprahization of America'on anything and everything that goes wrong. It could be the weather, politics, cut off in traffic, it's all 'O's' fault:)

  39. It isn't just Oprah, Barbara Walters interviewed them for 10 most interesting people list last year. It's about what's popular nothing more. People interview Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Snooki, etc because they are what's popular. She's wants viewers for her channel, that's all.

  40. What happened to the Kardashian Ban, Enty?

Recently there are several photos of KK (and they aren't the approved, awful photos).

  41. Aww, MLE, latch-key kid love from me to you!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not "lowest common denominator" because love for or even mild interest in the Kartrashians is not widespread/common.

  43. Didn't she make a big deal about appearing on 30 Rock? Like she was too good for it or something? This was when 30 Rock was really good, too. And now this.

  44. Oprah may have started out doing shows that were a bit messy, but she was never a carnival side show of freaks like Jerry Springer. Not on her worst day. And I'm convinced that the suits at the network are making her do these shows for ratings after they stripped Oprah of her decision making power, because they're not seeing a proper return on their investment.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I lost respect for Oprah years ago, when she started drinking her own Kool-Aid, believing herself that everything she touched turned into gold, including a presidential candidate.

  46. I've been following this blog since 2007 and some posts seem like the early days more than others. And one time himmmm posted a comment about how there were 4 different people posting under the himmmm user name and the thought crossed my mind that the comment was about CDAN itself. (I tried to find the comment but gave up. Google makes me crazy sometimes.)

  47. I think the workaholic in her just wont quit. problem now is, she has no talk show and a network full of execs who dont care about her past achievements. just current ratings. i think she should just retire graciously with stedman and gayle somewhere and continue her philanthropy without the spotlight. as of now, she is her legacy's worst enemy...
