Anger Management Sets Record For Charlie Sheen

Well, it looks like Charlie Sheen will probably become a billionaire. His new show Anger Management drew 5.5M viewers for its premiere. That is the most viewers EVER for a scripted comedy premiere on cable. That means FX will probably renew the series which means they will be on the hook for 90 episodes. Yep. 90 of them. Once that order is made, there will be 90 more of them. I think I might have mentioned this before, but to give you an idea of how much money Charlie will get from this, the network in Canada which is going to pick up the series is paying $1M per episode. So, that is $100M right there and Charlie gets a huge chunk of that. That is one country. Hookers and coke for everyone.

  1. Kudos to the make up artist who did the work here - he looks quite lifelike.

Why??? Why, God, Why?? What kind of sick people saw his troubles, especially from the past year, and decided to give him a deal? I love a great redemption story; RDJ. He seems so kind. Charlie Sheen is just revolting. Hedonistic.

  4. Two things..

The high ratings numbers are undoubtedly due to curiosity about what Charlie is up to these days. Whether people actually liked what they saw or want a steady diet of it remains to be seen.

If the show is a huge success, it'll eventually go to Charlie's head, he'll start going wild again, and screw it all up.

  5. @Henriette my thoughts exactly!

  6. People must see something in him.

  7. @Frufra, OMG, same thoughts. I kept saying to myself, shit, I look pretty good compared to him.

  8. White Guys love him because he's unpredictable, boozes/drugs/parties hard, bangs porn stars, etc. He's everything they wish they could be, but from a safe distance.

  9. well, he's also getting nearly $100million if not more from the settlement between CBS and his old show...so, yeah, he'll be keeping the drug cartels busy just getting shipments into his mansion...

  13. I watched, it wasn't horrible. I laughed a few times. I dont mind Charlie as an actor, plus Carter from Spin City is his neighbor!!!

  14. I'll bet Chuck Lorre shat himself.

  15. I never watched an episode of 2 1/2 men and didn't catch this premier. I admit, I was curious to see what it might be like. He looks zombie-like in that pic.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow. I've said it before - he's going to outlive everyone. But pretty soon now he'll look like the Crypt Keeper. Wonder if he'll command a million an episode then...

  17. I don't know why, because he stands against almost everything I was ever taught, but I like him, I really like him. He played himself in Two and a Half Men and now he is doing it once again. He doesn't put on pretenses or pretend to be someone other than the porn living druggie that he is...

  18. Did anybody else recognize that the guy who plays his friend was also in Spin City?

  19. @rejectedcarebear, sorry, didn't see your comment. eyes are bad....

  20. I watched them. My husband and I thought they were pretty good. Once again, his producers have surrounded him with a VERY good supporting cast and decent writing. Maybe if he stays relatively clean (hahahahahaha), he'll start looking less zombielike. I'll continue to watch it. It's miles better than the scummy cesspool that "Two and a Half Men" has turned into.

which network in Canada? anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  22. This is why the ratings will plummet. The genius of his old show is that you felt like he was playing himself. This you know he is acting as someone else. There are too many people on this show, it's too contrived. Don't get me wrong, I love Charlie, that old rascal. I just would have hoped that ten million of his fans would have followed him to FX.

    ReplyDelete
  23. He already looks like the Crypt Keeper, I don't think Charlie's appeal is in his looks. I actually can't figure out what his appeal is. He appeals to people who hate rules, I guess.

  24. i lasted 5 minutes. there's a laugh track, for one thing. but the biggest thing is, it's NOT FUCKING FUNNY.

so i'm sure it will be a huge, huge hit. charlie could beat a woman to death, and his fans would just say 'oh, that charlie!!' i'm convinced of it.

  25. I really dislike the actress that plays his ex-wife. She has 1 facial expression- this smarmy smirk that I just want to WHACK off her face.

I thought the shows were uneven, somehow not balanced. The writing needs a big pick-up and much snappier dialogue. The younger females (daughter and patient) look good,as was the actress that played Charlie's 'slumpbreaker'.He needs some kind of a Berta on screen. Really did not like his GF or EX.
    I am sure they care:)

  26. Far be it for me to ever defend Chris Brown, but Sheen has beaten up and terrorized the shit out of far more women than CB... not even going to bring up all of Sheen's other innumerable transgressions, but shouldn't people ban/ignore/loathe Charlie Sheen as much as if not more than Chris Brown?

    ReplyDelete
  27. My parents l.o.v.e. Charlie. They religiously watch reruns of Two and a Half Men and think he is the funniest thing ever. I tell them about how disgusting he is and what a bad person but they don't care.
@nancer, my mother seriously said "oh, that Charlie". Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ghost, yes I/we should.

But for me, I only have a little loathing left in my daily loathing bucket. So I am weak at this moment and chose to only loathe Chris (simply because I am closer in age to Charlie than Chris). So,I admit that I did watch his new show but I promise I will not watch it again.

    @nancer summed it up best:

    ".. it's NOT FUCKING FUNNY".

  29. Now if he would just use some of that money to get himself straight once and for all and to do some good for a change.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hate the fact that Charlie Sheen is never held accountable for anything. Too bad there isn't a leaked picture of a woman Charlie beat up.

I don't have to pick between who I hate more, I hate all woman-beaters equally.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @anita- I am now 'awake' and loathe them equally now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Agent - great minds, you know :-)

@Jesse - my mom likes him, too. Hubby and are are disgusted by 2 1/2 Men. We watched it when it first came on years ago, but it got too sleeze to be fun.

My theory is that people over a certain age like him because he's a throwback to the old days, when a drunk like Dean Martin was considered great entertainment. Remember, it wasn't too long ago that the common sentiment was that a mouthy woman deserves what she gets from her husband, and women getting slapped around was SOP. I know my parents subscribe to that line of thinking.

  33. * too sleezy to be fun.

  34. Check it out - he's wearing pants now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Frufra, Dino was a drunk? Nooohhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So lemme get this straight. The entertainment industry rewards people for being drunken, drug-addicted whoremongers?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Tru, as long as a large enough viewing audience finds them entertaining enough to attract big advertising dollars, then yes. This isn't to imply that it makes any sense apart from money.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Tru Leigh, yes.

@Frufra, that and for the rest, they either don't know and/or are stupid. Case in point, the dumbfucks that bought tickets to see his live show and then were pissed when it sucked.

    People suck.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Excellent remark Frufra.

  40. Why, thank you ladies. I love to fire a shot across the bow of socially accepted abuse of women (or children, or anyone not in a position of power) whenever I get the chance. Can you tell it's one of my BIG issues??

And yeah, anita, people suck, but I keep getting my faith in humanity renewed, so I'm still pretty optimistic. I do lots of work with kids, and they'll always make your day better. One recent comment I loved: " you're pretty and you have cool earrings". Day made :-). I'm so easy.

  41. He was born under a lucky star.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wish I could wrap my finger around why he gets a pass from me. I thought he was cute as a kid, then hated him for the screw-ups. I remember when he used to be the poster child for arrests. I guess I gave him credit for being on a come-back when Men first started. That came to a screeching halt but still, I am amused by him.

Guess that is where I am a hypocrite...oh well...

But to think, I was giving my friends crap for refusing to go watch Magic Mike ans "see the objectification of men and not wanting to look at another man besides their hubby" when they were weeks ago drooling over William Levy shaking his bon bon and love all things Bachelor related...

    Yep, nobody is perfect...

  43. Hookers and coke for everyone! Woo-HooOOOO!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Sherry - don't know if you are still following this thread, but I just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you. You can do this. You are awesome and have the strength, even if you don't think you do.

    ReplyDelete
  45. As a comedic actor, I absolutely love him. As a human being, I think he's a piece of shit. I wouldn't think so if it weren't for the wife beating. I don't care if you want to do coke & hookers forever, that's your business. But beating on women - uh-uh. Still he knows how to pick them. Who has ever gone out for blood and revenge and gotten him convicted? No one. He picks women he can buy off and he has the money to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. As much of a fuck up he is, I always root for him. Not sure but its hard to hate the guy

    ReplyDelete
  47. The show pretty good so far, but the 2nd isn't as good as the pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think i know why charlie gets a pass and chris doesent! Hmmm let me see. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nah, it's pretty easy to hate the guy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I try to remember that I'm paying actors to act, not be a decent human being. Some things I simply can't get over, but usually I feel I don't know the whole story and I just want to enjoy a g.d. movie so I really don't care. I do love the gossip but it rarely keeps me from watching. Except Tom Cruise. I think smugness is the one thing I can't get past!
But Charlie is my brother times 1000. I love/hate them both at the sane time if that makes sense. It's like, you are so charming why do u have to eff it up with your boozing and mean (egotistical) comments???? But wow do u produce some great work. My brother is pretty much the Charlie on 2 and a half men =Charlie toned down.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I thought the show was great.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ghost - He ABSOLUTELY should. Not enough evidence, I suppose.

I loathe him. He's got 90 episodes ordered but what's the over/under of when he has another breakdown or drives (another) car off a cliff?

    ReplyDelete
  53. CDAN may as well join with zeta boards to contain all the bitterness in one big, judgmental man-hating site. Taking sides with someone just because they share the same chromosomes is as stupid as voting for someone because they're of the same color. Really disappointed in enty.
