Back in 1979, Loretta Lynn brought Sissy Spacek up on stage at the Grand Ole Opry and announced to the crowd that Sissy would be playing Loretta in the movie version of her life. Last night, Loretta brought Zooey Deschanel up on stage at the Grand Ole Opry and announced that Zooey would be playing Loretta in the Broadway version of Loretta's life. You kind of get the feeling that Loretta could probably still do a great job of playing herself in either one of those mediums. Coal Miner's Daughter is headed to Broadway.
I like this idea.

ReplyDeleteZooey's kind of one note. Not sure if I see her pulling this off. To quote my boyfriend "maybe she'll finally try acting for once." (he can't stand her)

ReplyDeleteI love both Loretta and Zooey. Zooey has the right kind of singing voice for this part. Good choice. I don't understand why people don't like Zooey. I think she's great. She's just being herself. What's wrong with that? I get that she's kind of female hipster and that hipsters can be annoying, but I don't think that Zooey has the "I'm better than you" condescending attitude that true hipsters have.
