In a homage to Jimmy Kimmel or straight out hey he had a great idea so I'm going to use it for myself, today's question is whether you had sex on your prom night?
Nope, got dumped 2 weeks before prom and ended up not going. Stayed home with my best friend, ate Ben & Jerry's and drank a 4 pack of wine coolers (don't judge, it was the 80s!) I probably had a better time at home anyway.
i was supposed to, had presonalized underwear and everything ( funny what seems cute in high school) when my boyfreind at the time wrecked us on the way to after party. Ended up spending my prom night in a hospital with a broken jaw ( in 3 places), a concussion, and a ruined 1500 dollar dress.
No - waited until I was in my 20's, had health insurance and could go on the pill. (The best birth control in the world is imagining the look on my parents' faces if I told them I was unwed and pregnant).
Nope - went with a guy friend to avoid all the drama I'd seen in other relationships. I think I had an older boyfriend at the time (can't remember) who was cool with that.
I went to a senior prom when I was a freshman. No sex. He also wore more concealer than I did. Major turn off. He had a lot of acne scars. I didn't attend my prom because I dropped out of HS My junior year to obtain my GED. I was impatient.
I didn't like the guy I went to prom with. I only went with him because he asked and I wanted to go. I let him buy me dinner and we went to the prom and maybe, but I don't remember, I let him kiss me on the cheek.
My mom told me I was mean to boys. (PS: Saw the guy at the 10th year reunion and he didn't harbor a grudge.)
I guess I was. I never got married, but now I have a man in my life who loves me very much and tells me so, so I consider myself very lucky and that I was holding out for something worthwhile! :-D
No. I brought one of my friends; my close girlfriend hit on him all night, which pissed me off. He fell for it, but then realized what a b*itch she was. He really was a decent guy, and is now head of Trauma Surgery at a major US hospital.
Holy cow - did not think I would be in the minority with my "duh, of course". Sometimes I forget everyone wasn't a "troubled youth" like me. Also got blotto, naturally.
Don't worry, I cleaned up my act a long time ago :-).
Nope - went with a (mostly) complete stranger b/c I waited too long to find a date, hoping someone would ask me.
Instead, I wished I had brought my now husband, who I'd been in love with since I was 15, but didn't b/c I had a psycho ex who would have caused a scene.
In the end, psycho didn't show up, my date ended up dancing with someone else.
And after my group was dropped off at a friend's house, I so bummed and wanted to go home but the limo driver decided to drive me around our city so I could feel like a princess for a little while.
No. I went with a guy in college who was only after me for my looks & wanted to sleep with me. I wasn't an idiot. In return I played him along to think I would sleep with him on prom night so it would be "special." The look on his face when he took me home to change clothes and I told him I was staying there...he learned a big lesson. Couldn't cancel the expensive hotel room or take back the other stuff he had paid for during the night.
But before I seem like a jerk, he later apologized to me & told me that I did the right thing. That I taught him a valuable lesson, and that if I hadn't pulled that on him he wouldn't have treated his then "current" girlfriend with the respect she deserved. And that's why I did it...I didn't want the next girl he went after to fall for his crap. Thought maybe he would rethink his actions. I was glad that he did.
Nope. Another HS virgin (til end of college), here. I was also snottily/defensively anti-prom, though I and was asked to junior prom I wouldn't go. Then I left to live in Europe for senior year, so wasn't around.
If I could go back, I would probably tell my young self to lighten up and enjoy, at least junior year (but wouldn't trade Europe for prom). :)
No. I went to two proms -- both with guy friends. Several months later things finally got romantic with one of the guys, but I didn't sleep with him. He was a very sweet guy who treated me like a total gentleman, so of course my 18 year old self treated him like crap. I regret that to this day, and wish I knew what happened to him.
^Hey @Frufra I'm Class of '89 too. WHOOOOOT! Don't worry. We've got plenty more brain cells to kill. *raises cocktail glass in Frufra's directon* Cheers!
Just this past weekend my beautiful 16 year old daughter went to her Jr prom with her boyfriend of 2 1/2 years. I was so thankful they had no after prom plans. I drove them, his mom picked them up right after & brought her home. Their choice.
My Jr prom (pre-cellphone days)...I went with my boyfriend (who was home on leave from the Navy) & another couple. My mom knew we had plans to go to Cedar Point the next day, but what I failed to tell her was that we had no intention to come home that night. After the dance we drove to the lake, drank & went skinny dipping. We checked into a hotel, had sex for hours & ordered room service. We then spent the day riding rollercoasters & I rolled in around 6pm on Sunday. My mom was so mad she didn't speak to me. If you knew my mom...that shit was way more scary than anything she could have dished out. Recalling this memory over the weekends made me realization two things:
1. I have a REALLY GREAT KID. 2. I really owe my mom an apology.
@jessieE yes, i am ashamed to say i let my mom spend that much on it.. shameful i know, but i justified it by the fact i wore a hand me down on the yeat before.
Two proms, no sex for me. Junior year, I went with my on again / off again boyfriend and we were on a break. Senior year, I took a guy I barely knew and really the only reason I asked him was b/c I knew he'd look hot in a uniform. I spent most of my prom dancing with my girlfriends.
Looking back, prom was such a bust. I was in charge of the planning/decorations junior year & doing all that was SO much more fun than the actual prom. I need a do over.
Ummmmm, truth be told, i don't remember. But i'm sure i'm a southern virgin who regenerates her virginity after each blackout.
My b/f was an offensive guard on the state's championship team that year. YES; BFD. Anyway the team traveled/rolled/dated as a team. The female counterparts WERE southern [SEC] USA WaGs.
I was voted 'Most Intellectual' in my class so we were the "Odd Couple", and i/we could get away w/more than some of the others.
But the truth is, we hit the French Quarter bars and retreated to a suite only to rest up before driving 'hell for leather' to get home by dawn.
Actually, i wish i had loosened up some from those days. Ohhh, wait, i DID loosen up but got my B.S. and marriage license in due course.
@Reno- right back at ya! Now, as forty-somethings, we have to drink for health reasons - lower cholesterol, blood pressure - Dr. Oz says so! At least, that's the story we're sticking to in our house - purely medicinal - at least the first two drinks are :-).
Then after a couple more, hubby and I (also class of 89) are running around proclaiming "We're going to live forever," and feeling real smart about our boozing - doctor's orders, you know.
Nope. Was a virgin all through high school.
ReplyDeleteI never went to prom. Graduated early, moved away, and missed it!
ReplyDeleteNo prom for me.. I had graduated to night clubs by that age ..
ReplyDeletenegatory.
ReplyDeleteNo. I went with a friend. Although, he did go in for a kiss cause I guess he thought he should make a move, but all he did was step on my toe.
ReplyDeleteWah wah.
Nope. Didn't have sex until the first year of college.
ReplyDeleteNope, got dumped 2 weeks before prom and ended up not going. Stayed home with my best friend, ate Ben & Jerry's and drank a 4 pack of wine coolers (don't judge, it was the 80s!) I probably had a better time at home anyway.
ReplyDeleteNope, didn't go to prom.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm in the minority?
ReplyDeleteWent to 3 proms.
Enjoyed a little bump and grind at one after the dance .... :)
He was gorgeous....really, really dumb....but gorgeous....
I went to prom all four years of high school and stayed pure as the driven snow 'til I got out of high school.
ReplyDeleteAfter that, all hell broke loose.
i was supposed to, had presonalized underwear and everything ( funny what seems cute in high school) when my boyfreind at the time wrecked us on the way to after party. Ended up spending my prom night in a hospital with a broken jaw ( in 3 places), a concussion, and a ruined 1500 dollar dress.
ReplyDeleteNope, stayed a virgin in high school.
ReplyDeleteand please excuse the amazing amount of typos. the dangers of multitasking.
ReplyDeleteNo - waited until I was in my 20's, had health insurance and could go on the pill. (The best birth control in the world is imagining the look on my parents' faces if I told them I was unwed and pregnant).
ReplyDeleteNope - went with a guy friend to avoid all the drama I'd seen in other relationships. I think I had an older boyfriend at the time (can't remember) who was cool with that.
ReplyDeleteBack in my day you didn't go to prom stag and I wasn't invited. I did however lost my V at 16 - which was much later than many, many of my classmates.
ReplyDeleteNope, I went to all the proms, I was interested in the dancing, not the sex.
ReplyDeleteNope. Although I did eventually lose my virginity to the guy I took to prom my junior year.
ReplyDeleteWent to prom, did not have sex. Although I do have sex with my prom date now. We eventually got married :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to prom, so no.
ReplyDeleteNope. Made out and slept in the same bed at a friend's house, but nothing more. I was the only one of my friends who graduated as a virgin.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Let's just say that my prom night was the night I realized trying to be a "normal" teenager was vastly overrated. ;P
ReplyDeleteNope-virgin
ReplyDeleteI went to a senior prom when I was a freshman. No sex. He also wore more concealer than I did. Major turn off. He had a lot of acne scars.

My senior prom, yes, with my boyfriend. I went to two different proms my jr year and one my sophomore and didn't have sex those nights.
ReplyDeletesorry if I double posted (errors), but @Lindsey: did you really spend $1500 on a PROM DRESS???
ReplyDeleteNo. I brought one of my friends; my close girlfriend hit on him all night, which pissed me off. He fell for it, but then realized what a b*itch she was. He really was a decent guy, and is now head of Trauma Surgery at a major US hospital.
ReplyDeleteDidn't have a prom - too much of a social reject. (I love the Internet!)
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteHell NO I was 17, I didn't start that early....
ReplyDeleteYep. My girlfriend and I skipped the after-prom and had our own party back at my house (mom and dad were gone that weekend).
ReplyDeleteHoly cow - did not think I would be in the minority with my "duh, of course". Sometimes I forget everyone wasn't a "troubled youth" like me. Also got blotto, naturally.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I cleaned up my act a long time ago :-).
We didn't have prom, but if we had, I highly doubt I would have gotten laid!
ReplyDeleteDefine sex????? lol
ReplyDeleteNope, married my date though and we waited until our wedding night.
yup, and punched our v-cards (well, at least I know I did...)
ReplyDeleteNope, didn't go to prom, we couldn't afford a dress. I was a virgin until I was nearly 20.
ReplyDeleteNope - went with a (mostly) complete stranger b/c I waited too long to find a date, hoping someone would ask me.
ReplyDeleteInstead, I wished I had brought my now husband, who I'd been in love with since I was 15, but didn't b/c I had a psycho ex who would have caused a scene.

Thank you sir, wherever you are.
Prom? No. Went to bars until 3 in the morning. Then went back to my apartment and ate pizza.
ReplyDeleteGraduation night on the other hand - YES!
No. I went with a guy in college who was only after me for my looks & wanted to sleep with me. I wasn't an idiot. Another HS virgin here. Did get drunk as shit though.

ReplyDeleteI was a virgin until I got married in my early 20's.I was a good kid in school; I studied, and didn't date.I never went to a prom either.
ReplyDelete@Frufra Me too, lol!
ReplyDeleteHad sex AND got drunk. It *was* the 80's afterall.
No, but I had sex on your prom night, Enty.....
ReplyDeleteNope. Another HS virgin (til end of college), here. I was also snottily/defensively anti-prom, though I and was asked to junior prom I wouldn't go. Then I left to live in Europe for senior year, so wasn't around.

Had sex on a putting green. Prom was at a golf resort, so where else could we do it? Was drunk, BTW. 80s kid, too. :)
ReplyDeleteNo, but I learned recently that the original Friday the 13th movie was released on the night of my prom, which was not, btw, on the 13th.
ReplyDeleteAnd I was a virgin until a very drunken night with a professor in law school, whom I ended up dating for three years and married to for 20 more.
ReplyDeleteyes... and my parents were out of town! ha... talk about timing!
ReplyDeleteNo but I guess I am one of the few.
ReplyDeleteYep, with a guy who eventually came out of the closet. When we checked into the hotel, he wore my dress and I wore his suit.
ReplyDeleteNo. I went to two proms -- both with guy friends. Several months later things finally got romantic with one of the guys, but I didn't sleep with him. ReplyDeleteNo. Stayed a virgin until after I graduated high school.
ReplyDeleteReno and Another J - that's just how it went down in the '80's! I'm glad I'm not the only Gen X on here! The putting green story is pretty good, too.
ReplyDeleteBeer is good
ReplyDeleteSex is fine
We're the class of '89
Many troubling memories returning - guess I didn't kill quite all the brain cells :-).
Gotta go be all 2012 and cook dinner now.
^Hey @Frufra

ReplyDeleteTwo proms, no sex for me. Junior year, I went with my on again / off again boyfriend and we were on a break. Senior year, I took a guy I barely knew and really the only reason I asked him was b/c I knew he'd look hot in a uniform. I spent most of my prom dancing with my girlfriends.
