After absorbing this for several minutes I think I finally got this straight in my head, but hope I can also explain it here. So, Robert F Kennedy Jr.'s wife committed suicide last week. One of the reasons that was not disclosed last week is that she discovered RFK Jr. had a long term affair with the wife of the man who was having sex with his sister. RFK Jr.'s sister was having an affair with a man. You know because no Kennedy can ever stay faithful whether they are male or female. It must be in the genes. Anyway, the wife (pictured above on the right) of the man his sister was having sex with decided to get even by having sex with RFK Jr. They continued for a long time and that was the final straw for RFK Jr.'s wife before her suicide.
Too much money and not enough to do.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like her family is trying really hard to pass the blame onto the Kennedy family--completely ignoring the depression and suicidal thoughts that she had suffered from for quite sometime. I know the Kennedy clan is all kinds of sleeze--but sometimes a depressed persons suicide is nothing more than just that. To try to pass off the blame to someone simply because he couldn't live with her, and had moved on sounds very irresponsible and slanderous.

ReplyDeleteThis doesn't make sense for it to be the last straw. The woman who committed suicide had been separated from RFK Jr. for ... years I think, and he was already cheating on her with the pseudo celebrity everyone suddenly knew last week but whose name now escapes me.

ReplyDeleteYears ago, Kerry Kennedy was involved with Bruce Colley, which contributed to her divorce from Andrew Cuomo. Supposedly, RFK Jr. became involved with Bruce Colley's wife, Anne. Not sure if there is any truth to that, but if so, it was long, long ago.
ReplyDeleteRFK Jr. has been involved with Cheryl Hines for at least a year now. He's been separated from his wife for at least two years, so really, this is just BS.
I am no defender of RFK Jr. - I think he's behaved like an absolute dog, but Mary had a lot of issues too. This is just so sad and sordid.
@nolachickee - it just infuriates me that we have this group of people that..by virtue of their "birthright", think all these sexual escapades are okay. I recently read an old Jackie O biography "A Woman Named Jackie" and I was just flabbergasted with JFK's behavior. WTF?? About the same time, a relative took an old portrait I did of the Kennedy brothers in high school and got it beautifully framed. It's sitting behind the dresser in my bedroom, I don't even want to put it up, I don't want people thinking I have ANY admiration for this family.

ReplyDeleteI don't think these people are especially worse than anyone else in their socio-economic group, or maybe any socio-economic group. It's too bad for the faithful family members that they are tarred by the others.
I thought RFK, Jr. has been dating Cheryl Hines? For quite some time.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with those who have pointed out that no one can "drive" someone else to commit suicide. External factors like bad relationships sure don't help, but the psychology of those who are suicidal is so much more complex.
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was more about money and her addiction issues with Mary. The divorce was about to go to trial and her support was going to get get cut and her debt was sky high. She was going to lose her home the only thing she had left she cared about. And being ex-Mrs. Kennedy means she gets tossed off her thrown. She just took the easy way out. But of course everybody is fucking each other in the mean time.

If you marry into a family of people who are known to be cheaters, or if you are cheating with someone who is married and then he marries you--I think it is pretty clear what you are getting into. Don't expect someone like that to change...love doesn't heal all that is wrong in the world or make it perfect.
ReplyDeleteAs for women not hanging themselves...that is a bunch of crap and don't go tossing around murder accusations just because you don't like someone's lack of morals. Many women do indeed hang themselves--less messy than cutting, and quicker than pills.
omg, of course you can be driven to extreme acts. this man had money and power and mary had exactly DICK. enty said it was "part" of the reason. just one more betrayal to mary. could she count on anyone? speaking as someone who barely escaped her own marriage, it is overwhelming to realize you are out of options. the kennedy power is far reaching. just because they were living seperately, does NOT mean he wasn't dicking her behind the scenes. mine was, but no one could see that. if you complain, or sven state the facts; you're the wack job.

ReplyDeleteMary Kennedy was six months pregnant when Robert Kennedy Jr got a Dominican Republic divorce from his first wife so he could marry her before she gave birth. If he cheats with you, he will cheat on you. She should have understood he would do the same to her. It was just a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteOh please- this is Mary's friends and family trying to smear RFK Jr. Suicide is caused by depression which is caused by a chemical imbalance. And as another reader pointed out, Mary had an affair with a married RFK- so don't go playing the victim. RFK & the Kennedy's have been very respectful towards Mary. They were separated for 2 years when she died. Give it up.

ReplyDeleteI thought it was creepy the way the coverage made it sound like their life was peachy until *oops* one day she was struck down with the tragedy of addiction and depression.
It seemed patently obvious that there was a turning point and a trigger and given that these are the Kennedys, this isn't surprising.
I don't really feel sorry for her for being naive enough to think he wouldn't cheat on her after being his mistress, or letting the misery that caused (emotional, financial, whatever) ruin her life when she had at least 4 very excellent reasons to be strong and live a beautiful one...but that doesn't absolve him from being a cause of her tragedy. Obviously she wasn't a resilient person to begin with, but still.
Families are left reeling after a suicide; the desire to place blame is pretty strong. The Kennedys for a longtime have been as notorious for their private lives and misdeeds as for their contribution to the American political scene. As the older generation dies out and the money diminishes hopefully they will be covered less in the press.

Kerry Kennedy was best friends w Mary, whom she met in boarding school when she was 15.You can find a chapter in a book online where Kerry gushes about their wonderful friendship and how wonderful it is that Mary is now part of the Kennedy family and their kids will grow up together. I can't help but think that this woman had an affair with RFK Jr. in order to get back at the "other woman" ... i.e. Kerry. She didn't have any direct means of hurting Kerry, so she went after her best friend instead. Creepy and horrible....

ReplyDeleteJoe's prohibition liquor business was never proven. For some historical researchers, proving it (they need documentation)will be their golden goose. One of my Uncles operated a speak easy in Hull, MA and my family SWORE Joe Sr's "associates" were the suppliers.
Re Joe Sr's money :
This is one of the many way he made his fortune: He pulled out of stocks early in 1929 and sold short following the crash, actually making money while others got creamed. In 1945 he made the deal that remains the centerpiece of the Kennedy fortune: for $12.5 million he bought the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, a huge wholesale emporium that had cost $30 million to build. Within a few years the annual gross in rent exceeded the purchase price. In 1957 Fortune declared Kennedy one of the richest men in America, with assets of 200 to 400 million bucks. Fascinating stuff.

The only Kennedy man worth mooning over in my opinion was John Jr. Not only handsome, but had class too. Seemed like he and Carolyn had a good thing going.

@Gabi Wow I didn't know that about Carolyn :( I guess I was too naive back in those days...Old Man Joe must have dealt a bad one with the man downstairs, there's been way more tragedy in that family than can be imagined.
