Random Photos Part Four
Bill Clinton gets to know some porn stars.
Bethenny Frankel and Jason were in LA yesterday. She thought she might need him for her Extra interview.
Baz Luhrman might want to spell Ziegfeld Follies correct next time. To make matters worse, he has the characters in Great Gatsby also using smart phones and talking about Twitter.
Cindy Crawford goes for the all leather look.
This is Carrie Underwood's "I'm so happy to be married in front of the cameras" pose.
Eva Longoria in Spain.
Geri Halliwell tries to Dukes Of Hazzard it into this car.
I wish Bill Clinton was still the President. The 90's ruled.
ReplyDeleteSo plus one
DeleteEither the dress length or those shoes aren't flattering to Cindy's legs....still I would give my right leg to look like her at that age, or any age.
ReplyDeleteOMG. The pic of Clinton is baffling my brain.
ReplyDeleteAre you fucking kidding me re: The Great Gatsby? So is that shit going to be "modernized" a la Romeo and Juliet. Can't this guy leave well enough alone?!?
Love that you have Clinton AND a Spice Girl in the same photo thread. The 90s did rule.
Geri, you had a billionaire's baby, for God's sake. Why are you dressed like a 2-dollah whore? I don't know what I hate more, the dress or the shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo if that awful Betheny person is getting divorced, does this mean we're going to see her every day on this site? Because I don't think I can stomach that.
Enty, thanks for noting the Ziegfeld error! I couldn't believe it when I saw the trailer yesterday. $125 million budget, but no spell checking on the names of cultural icons prominently featured in the background?
ReplyDelete@Ingrid Superstar-Totally agree! I miss Bill. Of course, I will love seeing him as First Man someday in the future. Oh, the shenaningans I expect to see!
ReplyDeleteSo weird about The Great Gatsby being modernized. Have to say, I did like Romeo and Juliet (only Baz movie I have enjoyed) but that story fits into modernized times. The Great Gatsby's beauty is as much in the era as it was in the characters.
Oh Bill, really? The man has no shame, and I can't help but admire that a little.
ReplyDeleteAnd Bethany, whom I now know to be a resident of NYC, you look frail and old. So there you go. Skinny Girl (or whatever it is) becomes creepy looking old lady.
I remember liking the modernized Romeo and Juliet, too. But I haven't seen it in ages. I remember living for Reality Bites as a teeny bopper, and then catching it last year on VH1 and thinking it was the most awful piece of crap to ever be on screen. So, my distorted youthful view may have gotten the best of me on Romeo and Juliet. Still have the CD soundrack. (Yes, I still rock CDs.)
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton was the best President in the last 40 years. He deserves a little slap and tickle with porn stars.
ReplyDelete@NaNa, Clinton/Warren 2016!
I'm afraid I don't quite get the Carrie Underwood snark. Just because she's said in some interviews that she loves being married and she loves her husband? Of course, that MUST be code for "Things are on the rocks/I'm his beard/I'm on smack." What the hell.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe fucking trailer has a Jay-Z and Kanye West song in it!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFuck Baz whatshisname so hard for doing that to Mr. Fitzgerald novel!
What was his thought process?
"I have an idea, I'm going to make a film based on the novel of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century and I'm gonna make the soundtrack be from the current Billboard's top 40. Now THAT's authentic!"
grrrrr you bastard.
This is sad but I almost cried when I heard its being modernized.
DeleteYes LOVED what Mr. Baz did w/ Romeo n Juliet.
However, The Great Gatsby is such a fantastic book that if (when :( )turned into a movie it HAS to be told in it's original time period to really grasp and appreciate the writings of Fitzgerald.
Good luck to Baz! BC I LOVE THIS BOOK! And I do not want to see it butchered.
Cindy Crawford is morphing into a man, a tranny. I dont know wtf bill was thinkinh , taking pics with porn actors.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. I watched The Great Gatsby trailer and it looks like the 20's. So is Enty wrong about the smart phone/Twitter thing, or is it gonna be the typical bizzarro Baz world where either it's the 20's, but cell phones and modern technology exist too, or its set in some near future where 20's style and all has come back en vogue?
ReplyDeleteI think Enty must have been joking about the smart phone/twitter thing because you can't have those outfits & those cars and slap in technology.
ReplyDeletePretty sure the whole movie is retro, maybe just not the music (which is odd).
Never mind, I watched again and answered my own question. It is set in 1922 as written in the novel. Except this 1922 has cell phones I guess? Lame if it's true.
ReplyDelete@Vicki: Hilary & Elizabeth? Oh, HELL YEAH!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Brown/Warren campaign reminds me of high school: He's the P.E. teacher who gladhands everyone, and all the kids think he's a great buddy. She's the teacher (probably English or History) who was known for being strict but fair, and you really had to buckle down & learn in her class, so everyone either didn't like her or was a little bit scared of her. 10-20 years later, you come back to your old school and meet your former faculty again, and you realize that he's kind of a bully to everyone who doesn't fit his little clique (poor/fat/ugly/geeky/whatever) and wasn't even a terribly good teacher, because anyone could pass his classes, whether or not they did any work. She, on the other hand, is happy to see all of you and is genuinely pleased to hear how well everyone's doing, especially the ones who weren't part of the In Crowd, and you realize that, while she might have scared you or pissed you off years ago, you really did learn in her class, and what you learned has definitely helped you get to where you are now, and she was really only a hardass because she knew you'd need to know this stuff, and wanted to do her best to make sure you did. (And, now that you're grown-up, too, she's a whole lot of fun to hang out with. :-) That's my take on it, and I'm sticking with it...
God damn, Robin. You nailed it!
ReplyDeleteThe 90's was the best. And you can't blame Bill. Porn stars vote too.
ReplyDeleteHell yes to Clinton/Warren 2016!
ReplyDeleteAnd Cindy Crawford is looking mannish to me too.
At least Clinton isn't hiding out with porn stars -- good for him for having the cajones to stand there and smile :)
ReplyDeleteHillary won't run for President in 2016. Wish she was President now.
ReplyDeleteI got to meet Bill at a fund raiser (as a volunteer, not a donor). He was very funny, sat with all us volunteers
and had a Sam Adams. That was in his glorious fat days !
Cindy Crawford is finally starting to look her age.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the Carrie hate either, did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteI will say if they have kids they will have prominent chins.
Cindy Crawford's dress is awesome, her body is banging, but the face is starting to look a little hard around the edges.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton can do no wrong.
Carrie Underwood has fantastic legs!
@Susan, that was a great soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteI find Carrie Underwood to be very insincere. Just something in her tone. I've seen it before and I have learned to follow my gut instincts. I side with ENTY on the Carrie Underwood posing comment.
ReplyDeleteGah! Booties!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to comment on either Clinton or on "American Indian" Elizabeth Warren. I think you can imagine my opinion of them.
Bethany, sunlight is not your friend. Call Calvin or Giorgio and get involved with slacks.
ReplyDeletewhy is everyone freaking out about great gatsby? it's just one guy's interpretation. sure, i LOVED the original movie, and the book even more than that, and i may not even go to see the baz luhrman iteration. but isn't it ok for someone, if he's able, to have a go at a story? it's not like it will be the last time someone visualizes it. and as for the misspelling? who cares in the long run?
ReplyDeletewhy's everyone got to be so negative?
Soooo on board with Clinton/Warren 2016! Which (ot) makes me wonder if anyone else went to a UAWOW march? I was so pissed that didn't get any media coverage.
ReplyDeletekathrynnova- For me it's because everyone always tries to adapt things from the past into a hip modern thing. Which is fine in the sense that it could reach more audiences by alluring the younger crowd. BUT if we keep altering classics and real quality novels/art, etc. when will people be able to appreciate it's historical significance at that time?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I dont particularly want fucking hip-hop in a great American novel's movie adaptation!
It seems sometimes like the past is this red headed step-child we are all supposed to either forget or alter to make cool, thus loosing its ties to things that mattered at the time (and probably we could learn from).
I think audiences need to learn to appreciate a classic because it is a classic- I think strapping bells and whistles on it with hip cultural references undermines the point of whatever the classic was supposed to make.
There was a dance scene set to Party Rockers when they were filming. Don't know if they just used it for filming.
ReplyDeleteTalking about Gatsby.
DeleteClueless was a great, modern adaptation of Emma. I think it's ok to remake classics because it could encourage people to read the originals.
ReplyDeleteThe music has been updated for Gatsby but that's all. There are no smartphones in the movie, the clothes are of the period as is all the props. I wish some people would watch the trailer before making ridiculous comments.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I can't stand Baz Luhrman films. Not my cup of tea. Glad that now I know I don't need to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteNo, Warren/whoever 2016! Hilary Clinton has a long history of kissing Republican butt for political expediency. Elizabeth Warren isn't afraid to stand up for what she knows is right.
@Vicki: Aw, thanks! *blushes* Feel free to use it; just make sure I get the original credit! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've never met Bill, but from what I've heard, he really and truly has charisma--all the Elvis jokes were actually onto something. Apparently he has the ability to make you feel like the only person in the world who matters while he's standing there talking to you (Billy Bob Thornton supposedly has it, too), and being around it is seriously intoxicating. (When he stopped in Harvard Sq. during the DNC in '04, you would have thought Elvis had come back from the dead, based on the crowd's reaction.) Should I ever get the chance to meet him, I promise I'll recount the details here, OK? :-)
Whats wrong with taking pics with porn stars! They have feelings too! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI dont know much about her or her marriage but Carrie looks real phony in that pic!
The girl to the left of Clinton looks like a sluttier, more drugged out version of Ashley Tisdale.
ReplyDeleteHilary couldn't manage a marriage, how will she run this nation?
ReplyDeleteI still think she gave Bill so much slack because Web Hubbell is her baby daddy.
Did Bill know they were porn stars and not random skirts wanting a photo?
Love all the Bill love. He has the softest hands...(sadly, I only shook one) and he was hot as hell back in the day. Soo hot. I miss his presidency, too.
ReplyDeleteI am still bitter that Hillary isn't prez right now. I will never NOT be bitter over that. She was way better qualified, more experienced and respected on both sides of the aisle.
I'm thinkin' she won't run, though. She's lookin' tired. Love her, though. Makes me feel good that there's so much Clinton love here.
I've never seen a walking skeleton before. Bethanny girl, EAT!!
ReplyDeleteI love me some Bubba Clinton.
@Texshan
ReplyDelete"American Indian" Elizabeth Warren. That is the real story for me.
I really don't need to see TMZ on the presidential beat. That's what would happen if Bill became First Gentleman.
ReplyDeleteHave a first hand report about the famous Clinton charisma - nothing exciting, just a DC friend who spoke with him after a meeting once, and yes, she said he makes you feel like the only person in the room.
ReplyDeleteLetterman's supposed to have it, too.
Bethenny looks like the grandma in that photo. The husband looks like her son.
ReplyDeleteCindy Crawford is as orange as the carpet, has cat face and cankles. It's a good day - a very good day.
Jasmine, I totally disagree with you here! I am really looking forward to seeing what they did with this great book, but I would be very disappointed if they didn't change things or made it their own. A movie is not the same thing as a book, they are two different art forms and I experience them in very different ways.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am not so sure that the Kanye/Jay-Z song is actually on the soundtrack. People often use completely different songs for the trailer than they do in the movie. I wouldnt be upset if they did (see previous statement) but I read somewhere that the actual film has a 1920's soundtrack.
Lin- I am hopeful they dont use the song in the trailer for the actual soundtrack. And it's good to know you've heard there is actual lovely 1920's music in the movie.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton just looks weird when he's so skinny like that. Yeah, he's probably healthier, but still...odd looking.
ReplyDeleteCindy Crawford is morphing into Janice Dickinson.
ReplyDeleteThey probably couldn't get the rights to Ziefeld so they had to spell it that way.
ReplyDeletePeople with large heads (literally, large-sized heads, not the figuarative ego meaning) look strange when they are very thin. I'm glad Clinton is healthy and eating vegan now, so he can be around a long time, but his head no longer fits the body and proportions seem wrong.
ReplyDeleteI liked Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge, but Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet made me angry. Not only because he chose the worst actors for the title charecters. Dont get me wrong, Leo has proven himself to be a great actor time and again, but he had not connection to the material and gave a flat performance overall...Danes looked like she was trying to recite lines in Martian from her level of understanding. The only time she looked like she understood was in the pool scene when alluding to his junk. I liked his take on Mercutio, but his Tybalt was one dimensional, Benvolio ridiculous and the iconography was overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI will see Gatsby based on the strength of Luhrmann's other film, but i am a bit apprehensive...
ReplyDeleteYeah, Agent. She's a ridiculous POS, in my humble opinion. I don't understand the love for her here. But then again, I am very much in the minority, politically speaking, on this site.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like an innocent time in the 90s when Bill Clinton was president.
ReplyDeletePoor Francis! He was one of my favorite authors, and I'm NOT going to see how Baz trashed him. It's bad enough when young teen girls have Great Gatsby parties, but have NEVER read the book.
Oh Francis, I'm sorry, but we'll always have Babylon.
