Patrick O'Neal Defends Ryan O'Neal
Pea-Nutty sent me in this link and I'm shocked I never saw it during the week at all. It is Patrick O'Neal actually defending Ryan O'Neal. I never knew there was anyone on this earth who would defend Ryan.
Patrick O'Neal, who is the son you never hear about because he was never in trouble says his dad was the best. I actually think it was Patrick's mom who was the best and kept him straight and level. Patrick says that Ryan was there every weekend to pick him up and I find that doubtful. Kids have different memories than reality. I guess out of however many kids Ryan had that at least one would turn out ok. I think that's great and now Ryan will have someone to speak at his funeral.
Dont. Believe.It.For.A.Minute.
ReplyDeleteHe is not aging well, even counting in the fact he has prostate cancer.
ReplyDeleteKids do have different memories than reality. They also tend to want to see the best or look hard for goodness in their parents even in the face of the ugly truth.
ReplyDeleteNah, Dad's got cancer which got to stage III yet has an excellent prognosis? Dad's an ass but no real contenders for high stakes in the will are there? Patrick is working it.
ReplyDeleteHe obviously missed the interview where his dickbag Dad couldn't even remember how old Patrick was. He also said Tatum and her brother Griffin were 45 and 49. They're 11 months apart, so he's an idiot. I hope the cancer ravages his body.
ReplyDeleteKids do have different memories than reality, but unless Patrick is an aged 8 year old, he's an adult with a memory, not a kid. I have very vivid memories of things and people during my childhood and I'm not thinking of those events as my 8 year old self.
ReplyDelete@strawberrygirl, so funny your last line. I do think this is will motivated because who is going to be keen on those crumbs?
ReplyDeletePatrick turned out well which shows what a huge difference a decent mother can make despite the other half of the equation being not so great.
ReplyDeleteRyan is his only father. Classy discussion of him on Patrick's part.

ReplyDeleteSaw him on access Hollywood, and he seemed very genuine. Thinking his mom sort of created a dad persona that lived and became larger than the real Ryan O’Neal. This is pretty common in divorce land. Moms tell their kids, "You have the best daddy in the whole world". And if anything happens that doesn't jive with that it’s swept under the rug. Moms will say "daddy was doing something VERY, VERY important, so he couldn’t come today, but he REALLY WANTED TO COME. And he loves you SO much and he sent you (fill in the blank of the most fabulous item of the moment), to make up for it." The child believes the dad IS the best, and actually sent the gifts. There is no one to tell the child otherwise, because mom is the only one who knows the whole story. By the time the child is old enough to see that dad is a douche, its SO embedded in their brain that dad is AWESOME, that they really can't reconcile anything else, so the disregard any information to the contrary.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is very healthy, but if Patrick wasn't harmed I can see where this mom felt it was the way to go. Unfortunately, it will be impossible for Patrick to have a real relationship with any of his siblings now. Because their perception of their father is based on reality and Patrick's perception is based on what Patrick's mother thought reality should be.

ReplyDelete@Me, you lost me a little bit there. The based in reality perception Ryan's other children have of their father is a very unhealthy one and it shows in their addictions and arrest records.
ReplyDeleteClearly, Patrick's mother Leigh Taylor-Young did something very right the other two mothers of Ryan's children didn't.
If Patrick doesn't have a 'real relationship' with his siblings, it's because those siblings are dysfunctional people, not because his mother protected him from Ryan's destructive influence.
Denial is part of psychopathy. So is appearing normal. Anyone spawned from Ryan O'Neal could not possibly be normal. He is the epitome of glib and superficial charm.
ReplyDeleteEnty what "link" are you referring to? All I get are endless pop up ads.
ReplyDeleteHow kids does Ryan O'Neal have? They seem to keep springing up out of nowhere. I don't remember this one.
ReplyDeletePatrick, how can you call a man a good dad who got his other children addicted to heroin? Maybe you were spared, but how can anyone look the other way about that?
ReplyDeleteWhen someone is only interested in their own experiences, we call that person a Narcissist. Father, meet Son.
Never liked him at all. Something about his face and how phoney he is when he talks. I even skipped Bones when he would come out.
