I thought it was a great season ender Mick Jagger rocked it out like only he can.
It is time for Kristen to move on she seemed to be in every skit this season. But it seemed kind of odd that she got the center of attention treatment. Which never usually happens. Tina Fey didn't get this kind of treatment. (she wore a good bye tshirt) Lorne really must love Kristen.
But the other rumored players leaving Jason and Andy got nothing.
Her big goodbye is already getting ripped all over the 'net. I think that she will come to regret it.
Mind you, she is leaving the show as the third-biggest star ever among departing cast, behind only Belushi and Eddie Murphy. Bridesmaids grossed twice that of any of Will Ferrell's films.
Kristen has always been one of my faves from the 2000s. She was great in Bridesmaids, she has depth to her character, and if she keeps her film selections good, she'll continue to do well. Not many have broken the SNL curse, but she's got what it takes.
I wouldn't be super sad to see Andy go, but I really love Jason. Hope he sticks around!
I love Kristen and thought it was cute. Plus I love my Foo Fighters so it was great to see them rocking out with Jagger. You can definitely tell the Lorne really likes her and if you watch it back Jason Sudeikus looked weird at the end. I was trying to figure out if he was trying not to get emotional over Kristen leaving or if he was leaving too and didn't get squat.
SNL has never made me cry before*, I cried both times that I watched it. I'll miss her a lot, loved most of her characters. @Christina, you're right, Sudekis was having a hard time at the end. I've never seen that look on Kristen's face before - I think she was trying to hold herself together and in doing so, looked really uncomfortable. I'd be bawling.
I hope she gets a sitcom or something where I get to see her every week!
*I think I teared up at a Mother's Day episode once, when everyone had their moms on there, except Maya Rudolph. She showed a video of her singing, instead.
That made me cry. It was obvious that she really will miss her co-workers.
Oh, and there was Jon Hamm again. I thought a week would go by without him guest starring on something, but phew, glad to see that he's keeping himself overexposed.
It was a cool send off! Wiig is not just a comedian, but a good writer too. I've never seen a sendoff on SNL like this before. Seth Myers couldn't stop hugging her.
she is an amazing talent. I love andy samberg and jason as well. sorry to see them go! it was a beautiful song and beautiful send off for her. for other people, not so much, but I guess that is show biz.
I'm glad to hear others cried. I didn't realize the rumors were true that she was leaving. The tears started rolling (which would stop when I would try to decide if she was knocked up or if it was just the peplum)
One of the best episodes in awhile.
I thought Kenan's Al Sharpton bit was hilarious. A salmon canary.
The only thing that is good about summer break is that you know there is going to be a really good Stefon on the Update
Florin, you are going to be a bit disappointed. Abby Elliot is rumored to be gone too. She got a sitcom. I heart some Nasim myself, and hope she sticks around.
I cried watching this too- you could tell how much she was beloved on this show and how much she also loved it.
I disagree that she was/is bigger than Tina Fey though. Tina Fey has become a household name and is one of the few handfolds of female comediennes who most people know globally. I think Wiig might be almost there but I would still count Fey as the bigger successor (remember she had Palin before and after her time at SNL, and that was known by ALL).
@Sean--Abby was canned from that sitcom pilot over a month ago. Unfortunately, there's a very good chance she'll be fired off the SNL cast anyway during the summer.
@ B.Profane. I completely disagree. There is absolutely no way Kristen Wig is as big as Billy Crystal, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroid, Will Ferrel or Tina Fay. No way. I don't care how big Bridesmaids grossed.
Sorry, but Hollywood judges by box-office receipts. When they left the show (note emphasis), none of those people were as bankable as Kristen is now. Will hadn't done Old School yet. Murray had only done Meatballs. Tina just had a development deal for a sitcom that everyone expected to get creamed by Sorkin's show. Danny was just surfing in Belushi's wake.
I love all of 'em more than Kristen, but she's leaving SNL with an Oscar nom. and six, count 'em, six films lined up. Not even Eddie left on that big of a career wave.
loved bridesmaids (mostly for Chris O'Dowd who was fan-fucking-tastic in IT Crowd), but most of Wiig's characters on SNL annoy the eff out of me. looove Jason Sudeikus, though...hope he doesnt leave.
@Mom yes I saw that blind and the links in the guesses, I thought he looked better in this than on the Texas News Cast but it seemed like nobody would talk to him and I wondered if that meant the rumors were true.

I hope Sudekis sticks around, but I was getting tired of Wiig. I feel like Lazy Sunday 2 was a good enough send-off for Samberg.
ReplyDeleteThat's a hell of a send-off!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd totally buy an album of Arcade Fire covering the Stones.

Mick did a fantastic job. I fell asleep before it ended and missed the end. I'll miss Kristen next season.
ReplyDeleteThat made me cry. It was obvious that she really will miss her co-workers.

The upside to this is that hopefully I'll see more of my two SNL crushes, Nasim and Abby next season. Nomnomnom.
ReplyDeleteIt's odd seeing Chris Kattan on the left, he looks better than he had recently but he seemed to have been being ignored.
ReplyDeleteIt was a cool send off! Wiig is not just a comedian, but a good writer too. I've never seen a sendoff on SNL like this before. Seth Myers couldn't stop hugging her.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that Hamm and Wiig are besties so I was not surprised her was there for her. Plus, I still wish he had taken over for Lindsay.

ReplyDeleteWell, at least the fast forward button on my remote won't wear out as fast.
ReplyDeleteCan't STAND Wiig. She may be a great comedy writer, but her collection of annoying and not-funny characters on SNL will not be missed in my household.
Hope it makes room on the show for actual watchable skits. Good luck to her, but I certainly won't miss her at all.
Kattan was everyone's guess for this blind:

And he looks pretty awful there.
Also, is Wiig pregnant, or is that just an ill-fitting dress?

ReplyDeleteWhy would Loren Michaels fire Abby Elliot? She is actually funny.
ReplyDeleteIt was odd how Wiig just took off her cap and gown and threw them on the floor.
It was a cute send off though.
