Jon Benjamin Speaks To His Son Only In A British Accent
Jon Benjamin is a very funny guy. In his web series he says that for the past nine years he has only spoken to his son in a British accent. Is he joking? Probably, but it does make for a very funny episode.
I know someone (who is a famous performer) who wanted his son to be bilingual, so from the moment his son was born, my friend spoke only to him in Spanish (the family is white). The son thought his dad only knew Spanish until he was about 6 and then was shocked to discover his dad knew English, too! LOL
I was shopping a couple of months ago and I kept hearing a woman speaking in a robot voice. She was talking to her son like a robot, saying like, "Please put that back on the shelf. Thank you." It worked, too. I kept running into her throughout the store, and a couple of times, I heard him say, "Mom, stop talking like that," to which she would reply, "I am not your mom, I am a robot." It was hilarious, but he totally listened to RoboMom.
I'm British and I think it's ridiculous. Why would anyone bother pretending to be another nationality, it's crazy??????And I don't think it's going to be funny when the kid turns 18 and learns the truth either. Stupid.
The short one gets mad when I do it. And I do. Either a British accent or a Russian one. Never in public, tho, and not all the time.
ReplyDeleteNice to know I'm not the only weirdo!

ReplyDeleteHow about that movie preview for the Adam Sandler and Adam Sandberg movie? Freakin' horrible. Adam Sandler is so untalented.
ReplyDeleteOh G, I So heart you. I have never met anyone else who thought the same thing. I. Just. Do. Not. Get. It.
