Don't Dress Your Baby Like A Zebra If You Are Going To The Zoo

  1. Holy cr*p. Even though my brain knew the lion couldn't break through, I'm not sure I could have left one of my kids there to film.

  2. I've been seeing this video on the news and such all week and I think it's terrible. Teasing the animals like that and thinking it's funny. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!! I would never do that.

  3. Maybe she thought it was a baby zebra!

  4. All of a sudden the lioness dons a pair of safety goggles and grabs a blowtorch.....

  5. This shit makes me hate people more than usual. Teasing a captive animal for their 15 minutes of YouTube fame. Awful people.

  6. Who wants to bet that child has nightmares for years about being eaten by a lion and won't be able to figure out why? Well, at least until he finds this video of his parents laughing about it.

  7. That child is completely unconcerned.

  8. That is a _lot_ of faith in the power of glass.

  9. It's prolly inch thick safety glass. You think the zoo wouldn't have thought of these ginormous meat-eating predators busting through the glass when they were designing the place?

It's not like the baby is in a seal costume and being dangled over a shark tank while the mother laughs maniacally.

  10. Gotta love Portlandia. Parenting skills optional...

  11. Look at the muscles in that cat. Dang!

I love the minimal differences in behaviour between big and small cats. My old kitty (RIP) would do that exact thing to be let in or out of the balcony. After the screen ripped, she knew she could use the rip to get out onto the balcony but she never understood that she could get in from the balcony. She wasn't a smart kitty.

  12. Alright, I don't think anything's gonna top what discoflux said so this thread should close.

I love it, lions gonna lion. That is so true.

  13. Based upon the comments, I'm not going to watch. Hate seeing animals teased.

  14. Discoflux - a new catchphrase is born - love it.

  15. The lion wasn't being teased. The lion was, yeah, being a lion. The baby was just sitting there. No taunting. Get over it people.

  16. This type of video makes me sad too. Not being teased? Be trapped in a prison for the rest of your life. You'd have different opinions then, one would assume. It's absolutely teasing, and it's very sad. If the glass should have failed at any second, that lion would be dead.

  17. That lion seemed almost playful behind the glass, more curious than starving. I have no doubt in my mind that if there weren't a glass wall curiousity would have not only killed the big cat. Why tempt fate like that mommy and daddy?

People are dumb though. A really stupid and mean prank for both lion and their baby.

  19. No depth of glass, or reinforcement of sealing, or any other divider methods would have kept me from snatching up my child and hauling ass out of there.

  20. I can't say I blame the lion. Babies are delicious.

  21. Even though I know the glass is ”lion proof”, I would still freak a little and grab my child. Ya never know...

  22. I don't think it was confusing this baby with a baby zebra, since other predator cats show the same behavior to toddlers when they are within range at these safety glass enclosures. They are opportunistic hunters & there's always room for jello..

It does creep me out that these parents have a little too much faith in the safety /plexiglass. Really creeps me out!
