Ashley Judd Saves A Dog

Never let it be said that I won't write about you if you do something nice even if I still don't think you are all that nice of a person. Ashley Judd is the case in point. A couple of days ago in Nashville, a dog was thrown out of the window of a moving car. The community in Nashville has rallied around "Walter," and his significant medical bills have been paid for by Ashley Judd. It should also be noted that there is a councilman in Nashville named Walter Hunt who kept the dog from being sent to a shelter and instead was sent to a rescue. I hope whoever could do such a cruel thing suffers a similar fate, only no one comes to their rescue.

  2. Ashley Judd once called in to CarTalk on NPR and ... since then, I have had trouble hating on her. She seems a little humorless, a little more goal-directed than most people, and I can imagine that her brashness turns people off left and right. On the other hand, I saw a minute and a half of her new show last night, and I wonder how much of that toughness is just defensiveness and schtick? I've always imagined that while she might be a little unfun to be around, she isn't immoral or psychopathic, and this story makes me think she's probably just a somewhat distant person, not an evil one.

  3. There is a special place in Hell for that dog-thrower.

  4. I hope the person that threw the poor dog gets hit by a car on the way to his mother's funeral.

  5. It makes me so sick to my stomach when I read of any form of animal abuse. I have to turn the channel if there's even a hint of it.

Thanks Ashely Judd for helping Walter. Poor baby.

  7. I also don't think Ashley doesn't have a sense of humor and she seems very literal, jokes probably insult her. But she does stand up for what she be lives in so I respect that. I don't think I could be friends with someone who seems so serious all the time.

I have had three dogs from shelters and I could tell my Chihuahua had been abused. She was terrified of men. We had to put her down after 3 years she had some virus that attacked her nervous system and she started having horrible seizures. I always hated whoever made her so scared.

How do some people find it so easy to be violent to animals who just want affection? Probably because they can't speak up and are easy targets.

  8. I meant that I don't think Ashley has a sense of humor. Oops.

  9. Will the person even be punished that much if caught? Every time I see someone on animal cops they always seem to just get a fine. Either way hopefully that dog gets better and goes to a good home.

  10. Two thumbs up for Ashley--she likes dogs and she listens to Car Talk. She's all right by me.

  11. I presently live in Nashville and one of the top ten reasons I can't stand the place is the way people treat animals here. What happened here with this dog and Ashley Judd is the tip of the iceberg and the ONLY reason it was in the news was because of her involvement. People leave animals on the interstate literally everyday. It's heartbreaking to see. The laws here for animal abuse are so lax as to be almost nonexistent...same with the dui laws...hate the place

There are literally no people I hate more than those who abuse animals. Seriously. I love animals so much, and to think of how assholes can go around torturing and abusing them with basically no repercussions infuriates me. Look at how Michael Vick was welcomed back to the NFL and douchebags buy his jersey and he gets paid millions of dollars a year. I truly do wish something horrible would happen to him.

I hope there's a particularly nasty, disgusting hole in hell reserved for the scumbags who do this kind of thing.

  13. Hey, give Ashley Judd a break. She could have turned out like Wynonna.

I read Ashley's book (OK, the parts available for free on Amazon) and it's quite good. She's a smart cookie, and her family was chicken fried fu-ucked up. Team Judd. And Walter.

  14. All the superhero movies get released...I'd love a darker ("Punisher" was a little that way) type of hero movie. A person (or group) goes around the world doing wicked sh*t to those who do wicked sh*t. Case in point, they track this/these a-hole/a-holes down and throw them out of a moving car.

  15. Good for Ashley, I abhor people who mistreat animals or children.

  16. Anyone ever hear Ashley Judd on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" two or three years ago? She was a great sport. She's well spoken and educated, two things I respect. I think she's just more of a distant person in terms of humor. Girl is an NPR junkie and cares for animals. I like her.

  17. Maybe Ashley is just a big more intelligent (and serious) than the average celeb/actor. I can't really judge. But I love NPR/Car Talk and animals so have to agree she seems ok by me!! God help a person who abused an animal that I find out about. I even think some of my own friends aren't fit to be pet parents.

  18. God bless her! You know, we animal people are a bit prickly with humans sometimes, so maybe she's the same way. She's a winner in my book for helping this little guy out and calling attention to it. I wish I had enough money to save all the animals or at least make a bigger difference.

  19. I think Ashley Judd is pretentious as hell, but I've had respect for her ever since I saw a picture of her at a pro-choice rally holding up a sign that said "This is what a feminist looks like". So many celebs would never do anything like that because they would be afraid of bad PR. Thought it was cool that Ashley did that even though she probably lost some fans for it.

That poor dog. What some people will do to animals is just sick. I used to have a cat who was found outside an animal shelter tied to a fence by a leash. There were coyotes in that area and some idiot still left her tied there all night! People can be so mean and so stupid. Thank God no coyote got her. She was a great cat. (I had her until she died from natural causes.)

  20. Good for her.

And fuck that trash that would hurt an animal like that. Fuck them, forever.

  21. Never been a huge fan of hers but it is always nice when someone can help an animal in need.... There are thousands of these cases each year where the animals don't have a chance to be saved because the rescue organizations cannot afford to put the money into the dogs/cats.

Good for her-- she most likely saved this dogs life. And by working with the media she has most likely saved many more.

    Bravo

  24. I don't remember all the details, but back in the fall of 2000 I remember reading on The Awful Truth some awful story about Ashley Judd and her pets....

Something Like, she left for filming and her pets in her New York apartment were neglected and hungry, and she had unneutered cats and the female cat gave birth while she was gone, and the dogs ate the kittens before she returned. He was very specific that it WAS her; it was not a blind item of any sort.

I don't understand not spaying/neutering, especially in an apartment, and I don't understand not giving a pregnant cat a safe place to give birth if you have multiple animals.

I WILL allow for the possibility that she has grown and changed in the 12 years since, so good for her saving this dog, but I always think of her as possibly being someone who "loves" animals "so much" that she fails to see that there can be a limit on how many she can handle. I hope I'm wrong; for that matter I hope Ted was wrong 12 years ago.
