Will Ferrell To Host SNL

I love when Will Ferrell hosts Saturday Night Live. Unlike when he was just on the show and only got to be in 50% of the sketches, when he hosts he gets to be in 100% and if he could figure out how to get Usher to let him play the cowbell he would probably be in on the musical performances too. Will is going to host on May 12th. The thing is when he shows up, you know he will bring in a lot of extra people which always makes the show funnier.

Last I checked, guests don't usually, if ever, appear in 100% of the sketches.

  3. I believe that is the season finale which will most likely mark the end the runs of Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis,Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliot.

  4. Huh, Diana? They appear in a good 95%, at least. I would say that the episodes where the host does NOT appear in EVERY sketch are rare.

  5. The worse the host is, the fewer sketcbes they are in. Some bad ones will hardly have anything to say or do in the sketches they appear in.

Will Ferrell probably will be in all of the sketches, or close to it. He's Will Ferrell!

SNL is crap so I don't watch on a regular basis, only when someone I love and/or know is on, and they don't seem to be in that many sketches, especially not in recent years. I think it depends on the episode and guest. Typically a comedian who's guesting will be more involved in the writing and bring their own characters which ends up generating more sketches that they appear in as a lead. Someone who's just an actor is relegated to picking sketches that they think are the funniest, and in some they barely provide support and simply sit in the bg. Plus a lot of stuff gets cut and doesn't make it to the live show which is why it can be anywhere from 75-90% with 95% being very high and unusual. I speak as someone whose had a variety of friends host over the years who have explained/complained about the process.

  9. Me too, Maja! He's like el nĂºmero uno on my celebrity freebie list; I'm aware that I may be the only gal in the U.S. who would admit to that :-). I loves me some funny!

  10. I'll be watching too, Maja. I can't say that I love his recent work, but he has made me laugh more times than not.

  13. Will Farerell/Chad Smith is going to be worth watching, I'd put money on it! The show has been in the shitter since the Lohan episode, minus Jack White. It goes like that every season. Anyone he brings with him will be great, he's a pro.

  14. LOL@Chad Smith! Have they ever been pictured together?

I'm over Ferrell but I wouldn't mind an SNL appearance of Turd Ferguson.

  15. I hate Will in movies, but I love him on SNL. This will be a good episode. Also won't mind if Kristen Wigg leaves because I feel the opposite about her. I like her in movies, don't like her on SNL.

  16. Yay! I'm graduating May 12th, so this will be a nice little cherry on top ;)

LOVE him and Darrell Hammond doing the Jeopardy sketch together!

  17. The Jeopardy sketch with "Sean Connery, French Stewart and Burt Reynolds" is one of the most hysterical sketches on SNL.

    And I love the cheerleaders.
