Tim Tebow Draws 20,000 To Easter Service

Tim Tebow is busy on Sundays during football season and yesterday he was busy in Georgetown, Texas which is a suburb of Austin. He managed to draw a crowd of 20,000 people yesterday, many dressed in Tebow football jerseys to hear him speak for 20 minutes. Just like football there were also tailgaters who showed up Saturday night to party all night long before the service. And when I say party, I mean they probably were not doing shots and playing beer pong, although, you do never know. The church usually has around 12,000 people without Tebow there so, he got around double the people. To handle the crowds though, The New York Times says the church had to have 1200 volunteers and 120 rented school buses. I wonder if the Times would have sent a reporter if he was not a Jet now. I also wonder if he is even going to play this year.

  1. I am a Christian who does shots and plays beer pong.

  2. He's gonna be so busy performing miracles and teaching the Pope how to be a better christian that he won't be able to train for his actual job.

  3. I doubt Tebow cares about the Pope, as he's Protestant.

  4. It's funny how you never recognize anyone from church when you have booze in your basket at the local market. At least for Baptists.

  5. I read a majority of the people left after Tim spoke and didn't bother to listen to the Pastor's sermon.

That was real christian of them.

  6. Maybe it's because I don't get football or church, but I just don't see the appeal. Why would you want to wade through a crowd of 20,000 people so a quarterback can bless you?

  7. Happy Easter everyone...

Seriously though. Thank you to enty and the CDaN community for making this such a great place! Wishing you all happiness and new beginnings!

Wanted to say something yesterday but no appropriate posts. This one will have to do.

  8. @Rose - obviously you do not live in Texas, where there are prayers to Jesus before public HS football games. Lots of Jesus people and heavy drinkers out here too, although it does make for a pretty fun circus-like atmosphere at times. And one thing, not a lot of judging, that's for sure. "He was drunk," is a common enough excuse of stupid behavior.

Yeah it doesn't really work that way for Catholics LOL. I run into my parish priest all the time at the liquor store.

  10. LOL Vicki!

Agreed. His clean cut all-American white boy looks and devout religiosity just screams privilege and ignorance to me.

    I'm not a fan.

  11. I don't hate Christians, but I do hate preaching and proseletyzing, and I really really hate football. Tim Tebow is basically my mortal enemy.

Well, Jasmine, Tebow was born in The Philippines while his parents were missionaries. Then when he was little they moved back to Florida, where they are from, and became farmers. Yep, lots of money in both of those professions. They must be rolling in it! The privilege must be overwhelming.

And seriously? He's white and clean cut, so he must be ignorant? WTF, Jasmine?
