The Standard Hotel Refuses To Give Up Tapes To Police

Lindsay Lohan may or may not have been at The Standard Hotel last Thursday night. A witness who says he broke up the fight between Lindsay and another woman has spoken to the police and he says there are surveillance tapes which show Lindsay there that night. Lindsay says she was at home reading the Bible and knitting wool hats for house elves. So far it is unclear why The Standard has refused to give up the tapes, but I bet it is because they show something that puts them on the hook for something. My guess is Amanda Bynes. Maybe she was hammered when she left and it is obvious by the tapes. Bars don't want liability if something goes wrong. I know Amanda went to another place after, but you never know. Maybe it shows Lindsay or someone with her doing drugs. There has to be a reason why they have not been released so when they are finally released they will probably be heavily edited and spliced.

  3. Pretty sure TMZ already had lots of video of Amanda Bynes coming out wasted multiple times. Its about Lindsay, she should really just sit at home and knit those hats.

  4. With a hat knitted by Lilo.

  5. She looks like she is one patched up lawn chair, gnome with a daisy, white painted tire flower box away from trailer trash in this picture. Oh, and plastic flip-flops...yeah.

(I say this with authority, you should see this town I live in) ;)

  6. Lindsay has the most incredible good luck sidestepping trouble she gets herself into. It's getting to the point of near reality defying.

  7. I am pretty sure it will show her treating the house elves like shit. There goes her membership in the house welf liberation front.

  8. "Spliced" heh heh. Enty, the 80s called, they want their videotapes back. :)

    (I'm sorry.)

  9. I'm going to sneak a sock around her stash that she can hand to her house elf and set it free. Free Lindsay's house elfs!

  12. BigMama, you are right - she's got the trailer trash look nailed - and I live in Oklahoma, so I know of which I speak as well.

Is this a new photo or an older photo? I thought she went back to the red hair. But I get that it's a whole new week, and that might mean a whole new hair color.

  13. @Ms Cool - Niceeeeeeee, love when someone can get a HP reference in. Almost as nerdy cool as a LOR reference. ;)

  14. Def an older photo. C'mon you guys, Lindsay is a HOMEBODY, duh.

Very curious about those tapes though.

  15. @BigMama -

Hannon le (thank you in Elvish)

Does that work for the LOTR reference?

  18. If the police get a subpoena, which I imagine they will have to if the Standard is refusing to turn them over, and the Standard turns over edited tapes they could be shut down. Before anyone starts getting on me that they won't get in trouble is you are given a court order to hand something over and what you provide has been altered in any way that is obstruction of justice.

Unless the footage that shows "lindsay" fighting with the girl also includes anything else that is unflattering it would have been in the Standards best interest to simply invite the cops in and show them the offending footage. At that point the standard retains control over the footage.

I imagine now that the cops will get a subpoena and that subpoena will call for ALL footage recorded that night, just so the cops cover their bases or because the girl who has attacked lawyers can get all the dirt they can. Either way the Standard just screwed up and proved they are covering something up now.

  19. @uber, I tend to agree. If the police really care about this, a subpoena would force the Standard to cooperate. On the other hand, if the Standard chooses to "lose" the tape before police can obtain a subpoena, is there anything they can do about it? I really don't see this going anywhere.

  20. The Standard is owned by Andre Balazs, who has a long history with Lindsay, other celebrities, publicists, etc. Presumably he has an interest in protecting not just Lindsay's privacy, but that of other celebrities who don't want their "private" interactions in his hotels broadcast to the public. It's not surprising he's resisting turning over the tapes, and is probably using whatever influence he has to broker an alternative resolution.

  21. @Ms Cool - very impressive! Now, can you pull a bow?

  22. "knitting wool hats for house elves" might be my favorite line ever on this site, especially since I just finished re-reading Order of the Phoenix last week. Classic.

  23. TMZ is going to be sorry they always take everything Lindsay says and spin it her way. Mark my words. (They basically already trashed the woman who filed a complaint as a liar trying to set Lindsay up -- and they arguably defamed the guy she hit with her car, who says he never filed an insurance claim ever before, period. He also had tape, btw, though TMZ never gives a shit about what it actually shows, but I digress.)

  24. @uberbaldy...you are correct, sir. And if they can prove that there were tapes that were "lost", they could also be in pretty big trouble. We come across a lot of "it was lost" or "i dont know where it is" answers to subpoenas that my office sends out, and there definitely ARE repercussions for not producing.

I doubt that there are actual tapes. Most security stuff is recorded digitally and stored on the computer, and if you need to send it to someone you copy it on to a CD or something.

Are house elves related to underwear gnomes?

  26. I wouldn't take their refusal to willingly had over tapes as a sign of anything more than a business decision. If people (hollywood types) think tapes of their activities will be handed over at the drop of a hat - they won't go there anymore. A subpoena will allow the release of tapes through no fault of the bar.

  27. @Tex - distantly related....the underwear gnomes are generally regarded as the "country cousins" of their kind. Closely followed by the skulky septic tank trolls and the infamous laundry lint fairies. It's all very complicated.

  28. agree with @Opus this has to do with celebrity privacy and protecting the club more than helping Lindsay out.

If they do get a warrant I wouldn't be surprised if the club claims the footage is "lost".

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me, BigMama. I was confused.

  30. If Linday was in an altercation and if she gets away with it again, I truly shudder to think of the karmic smack down this chick is going to get someday. It will be epic!

  31. Spliced? what do you think they record in, Super8? LOL. Actually, Pimp Mama Lohan proly just paid them off. Nothing more nefarious than that.

  32. She looks so bloated all over. She's gross.

  33. I don't understand why TMZ would cover up for Lindsay, though? What's in it for them?

  34. TMZ might have the same editing staff as the news reporters at NBC.
