Robin Gibb Wakes From Coma

After more than a week in coma and a bedside vigil, Robin Gibb has awakened from his coma and is actually showing signs of getting better. This is pretty amazing. I really thought he was not going to ever recover. Apparently Barry Gibb has been singing to him almost nonstop so maybe that is why he woke up. If someone was singing Bee Gees songs to me non stop I would probably want to get up and out of there too. One or two songs is nice, but for hours and hours?

  5. I like the Bee Gees songs so if I am in a coma Barry can come and sing to me all day and night. I'd wake up and thank him.

He sounds like a nice brother. I'm glad Robin is awake. Miracles happen everyday.

I'd be perfectly happy to have Barry sing BeeGees songs to me for hours on end. I'm glad about Robin. Last week was such a crusher, with Dick Clark finally ending his teens, and losing my beloved Levon Helm, and I thought Robin was going to be the third, but if he's going to hang around for awhile longer, that's great.

  8. Syko I heard several interviews Terry Gross did with Levon Helm yesterday on NPR. It was pretty awesome.

    What a good brother though.

  11. Robin woke up because they played the Glee episode for him and he wants to personally go slap Ryan Murphy for screwing up their songs. I will meet you at the airport and drive you there myself, Robin.

    Best wishes, get well. :)

  12. I was convinced he was circling the drain last week, esp. since he has that "look" (I can't explain it, but you know it when you see it) and was just waiting for the bad news, so hearing he's actually doing better is great! His whole family (wife, kids, brother) have been at his bedside 24/7 singing and talking to him, so that has to have played a role in his recovery so far. (According to the BBC, his doctors say he's conscious, lucid and talking w/people, which is pretty damn amazing after what he's been through.) While I suspect he won't see another New Year's (may I be wrong...), it sounds as if he's decided "Damn it, I'm not ready to go yet!" and more power to him.

  13. I love the BeeGees and was thrilled to hear this. And yeah, I would love for Barry to sing to me. Though Robin is the one with the cool vibrato.

  17. Thank God! I was worried he would be the third last week, too.

Amy, I agree that he probably doesn't have much more time, but at least this way he's out of the coma and he can spend time with family. For now, it's a plus.
