Princess Diana Was Going To Star In Bodyguard 2
Kevin Costner is on Anderson Cooper next month but already taped his segment and what he said is already released so really, what is the point of even watching his segment when it airs next month? Anyway, Kevin says that Bodyguard 2 was going to star Princess Diana and he says they used to discuss the role frequently and that he had the movie written specifically for her and that the draft of the script was delivered the night before she was killed in Paris. Do you see Diana in a movie? Maybe. I don't think she would have done Porky's 5, but I do think she would have done a cameo in Hangover. You know that movie would have done a ton of business if just only for the novelty of it, but I also wonder how good it would have been. Diana was always so shy and that never really translates all that well to the big screen.
I think this was wishful thinking on Kevin Costner's part. As much as Diana was a fan of film, I don't think the palace would have allowed this. When was the last time any royal participated in a movie?
ReplyDeleteKevin can say anything he wants, because of course, there's no way to dispute this.
That all sounds a little too convenient to me.
ReplyDeleteHe's delusional.
ReplyDeleteIN a couple of bios of Diana that I read, Costner did, indeed, float the idea of BG2 with the Princess, but she declined.
ReplyDeleteHe just wanted to bone her.
probably would not have happened, but I have to disagree with the shyness theory. She had a strong sense of herself, and may have just been waiting for a chance to be out of the palace's shadow and come into her own. A high profile movie role, as probably terrible as it may have been, could have done it for her.
ReplyDeleteSo what Costner is saying is that the script was so bad that it killed her?
ReplyDelete::spits out coffee:: lmaooo
DeleteThere was talk but no substance ...
ReplyDeleteCostner is really working hard to make himself relevant lately, hm?
ReplyDeleteYea I'm disagreeing with her shyness not translating well to the big screen, I think she would have been charming. I'm also disagreeing with what the palace has to say.. who cares? She was never really a Princess, and she was no longer in the Royal Family because they were divorced right? What I'm confused about is how she would have been the lead in BG2, Would Coster and Houston's characters have been broken up? Didn't they fall in love and live happily ever after at the end of the first movie?
ReplyDeleteI don't think she had a proper voice for much dialogue. Don;t get me wrong--I LOVED her. Woke up before dawn to watch her wedding and cried for two days when she died (yeah, I'm dumb).
ReplyDeleteBut her voice was weak, IMO, and I think it would've grated in a 90-minute film. JMO.
I had no idea he was so capable of delusion. Hmmmmm I think he probably told her he was doing this script and she politly said "oh, that sounds nice" or some such thing. Oh, and it was delivered the night before she died? How timely...
ReplyDelete@Danielle - I don't think they got together at the end of the film, Whitney went back to her life and he went back to his.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe Kevin, but reading about Diana made me kind of sad and nostalgic all over again. It's still hard to wrap my brain around her untimely and tragic passing.
ReplyDeleteOh Kevin. Princess Diana would STAR? As in a role to the extent of Whitney's? Can't see that happening.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's trying too hard lately and it's creepy. The Whitney funeral and now this? I don't believe him. Wanker. Granted, I can't stand him, so I'm biased, but still.
ReplyDeleteNot a snowball's chance in hell would she have done this (especially a sequel... okay, especially a sequel to the Bodyguard).
ReplyDeleteI doubt Diana would have done it. Nice try to make yourself important again douche bag.
ReplyDeleteI think this is old news. Weird, but old.
ReplyDeleteWould someone please throw a bucket of cold water on Kevin so he can wake from his dream. He may have pushed the idea and she may have entertained it, but I doubt there is anyway she would have done it. She would have become a character of herself and she was too conscious of her image to make this mistake.
ReplyDeleteHe told this story after she died and got ripped for it because he appeared to be capitalizing off her passing.
ReplyDeleteBTW,what happened to Kevin's career? At one point he seemed like an icon in the making projecting that Old Hollywood feel with his movies.Waterworld couldn't done that much damage.
Wonder if there are some juicy blinds out there involving Kevin?
Seeing as I just re-watched the movie after Whitney's death, no, the characters did not end up together. He went back to secret service type work and she flew off in her private jet.
ReplyDeleteI thought the story was Kevin's first pick was Diana, who of course declined and then he ended up with Whitney.
@seachica -- lol
ReplyDeleteCostner has been peddling this story for YEARS. I think he is the only one who believes it.
Kevin does think highly of himself, doesn't he? I read recently that he likes to say he gave Whitney the idea for singing "I Will Always Love You" to Whitney, but in an interview after Whitney's death, her best friend Robyn said she had come up with it before Kevin. I believe Robyn.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I thought upon reading this was, "I wonder if Costner and Princess Di hopped in the sack together?"
ReplyDeleteThoughts, CDANers?
Maybe the script was going to be based on a Princess Di type character.
Well, she was dumb enough to take up with that trashy Fayed guy, so I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that she'd sleep with Costner. Ick.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very old rumour that was around the summer before she died. I have no doubt he probably suggested it to her and proably even gave her a script, and I even bet she probably said she would think about it. But no way in the world would she ever have done a movie. Say she is doing a movie? Yes. But to actually do it, no way.
ReplyDeleteI think Kevin needs to stop. This movie never would have happened. I'm he figures her sons or ex-husband will refuse to comment on it anyways, so he feels he can get away with saying anything about her at this point. Sheesh.
ReplyDeletei think this make him sound nuts. no, not believable.
ReplyDeleteOh puh-LEASE! I get irritated when people give interviews saying what people who've passed on were planning to do. They're just not credible.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this, but I just read that the Bodyguard was originally written for Steve McQueen and Diana Ross in the 70's. And that Warner Brothers is interested in making another sequel. How timely.
ReplyDeleteI cannot see Diana wanting to be an actress or agreeing to this, but I think there was probably a lot we didn't know about her life.
He said this way back in 97' right after she died. He sounded full of crap then and he still does now.
ReplyDeleteBTW "The Bodyguard" was written byu the same guy that wrote "Raiders of The Lost Ark" or as I call it - The most perfect movie ever fucking made!!!
I think Diana would have loved the idea but would never have actually done it.
ReplyDeleteThis is not new, but I think Kevin has embellished on it. I think what the original idea was that she would be in it, but more along the line of the guy at the beginning of the film who Costner's character saved from assassination. I could see her doing something like that. I think Kevin might have wanted her for something bigger, but I doubt that would have happened.
ReplyDeleteWHAT??? I want some of what Kevin is smoking. [No .. really .. threw out my back and it sounds like it could help!]
ReplyDeleteCostner just wants publicity. He is starting to remind me of Kato Calin during the O.J. trial, just popping up everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThis is an old story, and Diana would not have done a movie! She may have wanted to flip her nose at the queen and the ex, but no way would she have done a movie.

So you being in a movie is gross and degrades your image much more than having an open affair with a son of a rather infamous man?
