Nadya Suleman Investigated By CPS

Nadya Suleman's hairstylist went to the police to complain about the way Nadya was treating her 14 children. Apparently after not giving her a big enough tip, the hairstylist told the police there is only one working toilet for the house and that the kids each have training toilets in their rooms and that Nadya locks them all in their rooms when she has personal things to attend to.

Showing that they take their jobs very seriously when there is potential for people actually watching them work, CPS went out to the house the same day and stayed for 90 minutes but found nothing that would lead them to remove the kids from the house.

I made the joke above about the hairstylist not getting a big enough tip, but I'm glad she did what she did. Whether anything came out of it or not, she saw something she believed was not right and reported it. What if she stayed silent and something happened. She would feel awful and we would be blaming people like her for not doing anything when they had the chance. Think about how many kids would be alive today if someone had just taken the time to report what they had seen. I'm not saying Nadya's kids were in danger like that, but the woman did the right thing.

  1. Why is Nadya going to a hair stylist if she has no money?

  2. Who outed the hair stylist as the one who turned her in? Was it the stylist herself? Does she want publicity out of this too? I'm glad she did what she did but tips like that are supposed to remain anonymous I thought.

  3. Good question, @msgirl.

One bathroom for that many people is pretty gross.

  4. Take those kids away from that crazy bitch and give them all to the Duggars.

Or do they not believe in adoption?

  5. One of my biggest regrets is not working harder to intervene on behalf of a sibling group in a school where I taught.

Yeah, the principal and CPS were involved, but no one really gave a shit; the required meetings were held, Mom was obviously lying through her teeth, paperwork was completed, and it was done.

But those kids were suffering. I was young and overwhelmed, but that's a terrible excuse. I hope they are ok (20 years later), and I learned a powerful lesson. Never stand by when a child might be in trouble - and just thank God if you end up being wrong.

  6. This sounds like someone seeking publicity. Everyone keeps talking about calling CPS, and someone finally did it... and talked about it.

One bathroom is indeed pretty gross, but it's not illegal and it's not abuse.

  7. Why that woman was allowed to keep those kids to begin with is beyond me. That being the case, however, she certainly should have been spayed immediately after their births.

  8. CPS should have intervened in the first place or Nadya should have done the right thing and put the 8 up for adoption when they were infants. Now, for better or worse, they are bonded to their mother and each other and the other older siblings. If they had been adopted as newborns, they'd ALL have better lives now. Taking them from their home at this age would really mess with the minds of all 14 of the kids. What a freaking mess.

  9. That's a bunch of bullshit that CPS "couldn't find anything dangerous". A mother who jams chairs against doors to keep kids locked in while she's "busy"?

CPS is pretty damn choosey about what they deem inappropriate- That mother needs to allow those kids to go into a foster program at the very least. A closely monitored foster program.

  10. I agree with Beth. One bathroom is not abuse. I would be very careful about reporting any family to CPS, unless there were obvious signs of serious abuse. Foster care is no picnic. Many children in foster care are abused even worse once they are out of their homes and living with strangers. Also, they are usually separated from their siblings-- often the only support system they've ever had.

  11. The TMZ post paints a worse picture than this post. I can hardly keep my house clean with one kid, and that's with help from my husband. Being single with 14 kids? My house would be absolute FILTH, and I bet with her mental problems their house is worse than filth.
I actually think I remember her saying CPS has been called on her before, but I guess it was by strangers who didn't really know what was going on. I'm very glad her hair stylist did this.

  12. Hairstylist looking for some PUBLICITY? Protective Services doesn't release the names of who called.

  13. New one from TMZ:

Octomom Nadya Suleman --who is pulling in $2,000 month in food stamps thanks to California taxpayers -- spent $520 on a Brazilian blowout, and 2 cuts ... TMZ has learned.Octo's hairstylist Stephanie tells us ... she went to Octo's house on April 18 to cut her hair and do a Brazilian blowout --a chemical straightening treatment. Octo owed Stephanie for an earlier haircut, and the grand total came to $520. Octo also paid Stephanie $80 for hair products. Mind you -- Octo wrote the check at a time when she was in dire need of welfare.Stephanie -- who went to cops yesterday and filed a report claiming the 14 kids were living in squalor -- tells us she couldn't believe Octo was spending this kind of loot on haircuts when her plumbing didn't work. Stephanie says a plumber had been to the house recently and told Octo it would cost $150 to fix the pipes, but Octo declined, saying it was too expensive. As a result, the kids have to use portable training toilets in the backyard.By the way, Stephanie also says while she was cutting Octo's hair, the mother of 14 locked her kids in the bedroom. Take a look at the pic -- notice the chair she used to keep the door shut.

  14. I am glad the stylist reported her. Locking all the kids in a room so she could get her hair done in peace? Disgusting.

No money to fix the plumbing, but 500 bucks for her hair? I can't even comment I am so floored.

  15. These children deserve sooooo much better. Her whole situation makes me fucking sick.

Take care of those kids. Priority number one. Period.

  16. I like how she is trying to make the blond kids look like Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.

  17. how could they go to the house and not find anything wrong? the woman is dirt poor with 14 children! I feel sorry for everyone of them and the state should really do something.

  19. I think the hair stylist might be in cahoots with Nadya. Make it appear that Nadya can't handle all of them and maybe some of the kids will get taken. Looks better than Nadya giving up her own kids. What do you think of my conspiracy theory?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wouldn't be surprised at all. I wonder if she is going to cash that check.

However, that picture of the chair is evidence of nothing. That looks like a door to the garage or basement from the kitchen.

  21. Did you see the photos? The house is pretty damn clean for having 14 kids. There is grafitti on the walls -- but the toys in the backyard? Christ, my sister's has three young kids and their backyard is more of a disaster area.

Look, I'm not defending her but I can see how it is perfectly possible CPS clearered those living conditions.

  22. Octomom, she's whacky and has a personality disorder that allows her to believe $500 hair styles and cosmetic surgery are necessary for her. She has mentioned she regrets having so many children.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I do find it amusing seeing the situation and being worried, she (the stylist) still managed to do the proceedure, sell her some extra products and take a check. Not saying she shouldn't get paid...but seriously. Things can't be that bad if she (the stylist) could do her job. Not that I am a fan of Nayda's.

  24. I think people should stop being so nosey and just mind their own business and stop reporting people and causing trouble.Unless you have proof and know for SURE, don't meddle!

Being poor isn't a crime, obviously, but I don't think locking/barring kids into a room so mommy can have her expensive hairstyling session is appropriate parenting, either. Does it rise to the level of abuse? I don't think so. But it's certainly not great.

I'd like to know where she found a plumber that would charge her $150 to fix pipes! Every plumber I know charges almost that amount just to come out to the house and diagnose the problem!

Has this woman never heard of Supercuts?

  26. Id rather people didn't wait for absolute proof. For the sake of children everywhere I would err on the side of caution if they really felt a child was being harmed.

The very sad thing is that if these kids go to foster care or were ever up for adoption is that they would all be separated. It's hard to foster out three siblings together, let alone 14.

  27. I personally dont think that anyone should have more children than they can afford to raise, nor do I care for some of Nadya's parenting "skills". However, the mere fact that I dont agree with her parenting style or choices, doesnt mean that she is abusing her children. It is entirely possible that she loves the children very much and is doing her best.

I think that it is absolutely appropriate for anyone who has a reasonable amount of suspicion that there is abuse in a home to report to CPS. It is always best to err on the side of caution.

    1. I love my son very much and I try to do my best too, which to me means if I were faced with the choice of having my plumbing fixed or getting my hair done I go to fantastic sams for a $12 haircut so my child can off inside the house.

  28. Nadya Sulemon was on Dr Drew back in November. He agreed to pay for one year of housecleaning, an online personal trainer course and the internet access to take it, and a child care assistant for one year. What he should have done was offer her intensive counseling for two years. Her brain does not work like the brain of normal, functioning people. It just doesn't. It's possible it never did and her parents just ignored all the signs, who knows.

I feel so badly for those kids. You know the oldest ones have been forced into early adulthood because they are the ones who are actually trying to help the youngest ones and keep their life somewhat intact.

  29. The pictures of kids using training potties outside was bad. No one, man or woman, could possibly take of that many children. Even one small kid can be exhausting. I don't care if you're Mother eff'n Teresa.

She's crazy and needs to have those kids taken away. PERIOD.

Just curious, what happened to Octo's parents?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Omg, the Duggars are a great idea. They have enough older kids to buddy every one of these kids.

I cannot imagine one person being able to be any kind of reasonable parent to this many young kids. I would lose my freakin mind.

This feels like some kind of publicity stunt by either Nadya or the stylist but I think it is good to keep CPS engaged to make sure these kids are getting some kind of care.

  31. 1) You can see inside the room that was jammed shut with a chair and it is indeed a bedroom, not a garage or basement.

    2) my son has colored on the wall before, but she lets them use spray paint.

    3) I just can't.

  32. All that money to the stylist and her hair still looks like shit.

  33. I'm guessing this isn't the first time CPS has looked at her. It shouldn't be.

  34. Good thing she reported it instead of turning it into a blind item.

  35. Does anyone else think that the doctor who made it possible for a single woman with six kids to have eight more should bear some responsibility here? I'm not saying women shouldn't have control over their bodies, rather that the doctor had a direct role in this irresponsible situation and should be financially responsible for the beings he created. I'll bet both the doctor and Octomom knew she couldn't support them but figured there would be all sorts of public support, celebrity, sponsorships, etc. to follow the births.
