Musings Of A Crew Member

This crew member has worked on the same television series for the past two years. Here are some of her thoughts. Each week I will try and bring you new thoughts from different crew members who work on television shows or movies around town.

I've worked on the same show for a couple of seasons as a production assistant. It's been on a little longer than I have been working for it. When I tell everyone what show I work for people always say they have heard of it but have never watched it. I don't think anyone has ever watched it. I don't even watch it. I'm tired of it by the time I go home and running errands for everyone on the show just kind of makes me want to stay away from them when I get home. Would you go home and watch your boss on tv? I don't want to either. I don't like these kinds of shows anyway. Craziest thing I have seen? One time I was bringing this actress who has been on the show this season some food and I didn't knock because I never knock with her. Some make you knock but she doesn't and she's always cool with me so I went in and there she was pressed up against the wall by this other actor who has been on the show and he had her hand down her police uniform and her shirt was open and they were going at it and I freaked out. I wanted to leave but wanted to watch. I wanted to be quiet but was freaked and think I might have squeaked. They saw me and I just kept saying, "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." Oh, so I leave and realize I still have her food in my hand so rush back inside with my head down and set down her food.

That actor is a tool though. I used to think he was cool but he is an ass. Most of the actors on the show are asses. They just want to f**k and that is all they think about all day. It doesn't matter if they are married or whatever. They spend their day doing some lines and the rest of the day trying to get women to go to their trailers. It's like a game. You learn to ignore it after awhile, but I worked in a real job before this in New York and if they had tried this crap in a real office they would have been fired. You go home at the end of the day feeling kind of skeezy. Last year that same actor got into it with this actress he was having sex with everyday on set. He was cheating on his girlfriend with this actress but yelled at her everyday if she looked at a guy. Called her all kinds of names too. Tool. I hate him. Everyone does. I would love to kick him in the balls but I would get fired and I need the job. It got so bad with him that she quit the show. She was sweet although she kept to herself. She had the coolest accent and could make it go away in a second.

  1. No idea, but love this! (In a gossip monger type way)

  2. Southland

    Walked in on:
    Benjamin Mckenzie
    Lucy Liu (new this season)

Not sure who the actress with the accent is...

  3. I like Grey's guess and I'm going to guess Emily Bergl for the girl with an accent. I haven't watched the show since the beginning of the first season so I don't even know if she's still on it or not.

  5. If it's Southland I'd believe Shawn Hatosy being to the tool over Ben McKenzie. Either way, this is a cool feature to add to the site.

  6. I also immediately thought of Southland but people do watch it. What other police dramas are there?

    ReplyDelete
  7. No idea what show or who this could be, but I LOVE the new edition to the site! This is cool :)

  8. Just to throw out another option: What about Rookie Blue? ABC's summer cop show. It's on it's 3rd season this year. People have heard of it, I don't know anyone that actually watches it.

  9. He had her hand down her own uniform?

I've never even heard of Southland.

  10. Southland?

Lucy Lui and either Ben or Shawn.

Emily Bergl played Shawn's wife on the show. She was born in the U.K. She is was not on the show this season.

    Great addition to this site.

  11. I didn't know Southland was on the air yet, thought it was still in the making.

  12. Great addition Enty! I'm fascinated by the behind-the-scenes stuff of the industry, even without the sex-crazed behaviours. It's good to know all the hard work the production staff do on these things to make the screen magic happen. And also good to know that there are people who work in the industry who finds those actors disgusting and think they are tools.

  13. Great addition to the site. There are SO MANY shows that people have heard of but "don't watch" that I can't even begin but y'all seem to have it under control. :)

  14. Love this new segment.

  15. I am betting it's Rookie Blue.

    ReplyDelete
  16. This sounds like it's filmed in New York. However, the rest kind of fits with Southland (except the accent bit).

One of the main actresses on the show, Arika Bareikis, left after last season, and it's not clear if she quit or was written out.

I was thinking of Blue Bloods on CBS, but I don't really know anything about it. It's finishing up it's second season.

  17. Yeah I don't know anyone who watches Rookie Blue, in fact I've never even heard of it, so that's a great guess.

Again, it's not Southland, I know many people who watch it and it's very popular among cops themselves because it's supposed to be realistic.

  18. I don't think it's Southland. I've only ever heard good things about the cast from crew and extras.

Ben Mckenzie worked only with Shawn Hatosy this season and by all accounts their paths didn't cross with any other cast members.

Last year the only cast member to have a scenes with the same actress week after week was Shawn and he is married.

I like the Blue Bloods guess but I really have no idea!

  19. This is kind of like getting a bonus blind. Enty has really upped the ante around here these days.

    ReplyDelete
  20. There were a lot of parts in this blind that made me think of Dexter. MCH for the tool, Jennifer Carpenter for the "girlfriend" he was cheating on, although we all know they were married. And maybe Julia Stiles is in there somewhere too? I dunno, just throwing it out there. Also, there was this Character Lila on a few seasons ago who had a pretty cool accent (British I think). I will say that a ton of people watch this show, so it's probably not it.

  21. Guys, just because you know people who watch Southland doesn't mean a lot of people do. It got kicked off its original network and had to move to cable because no one was watching.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not Rookie Blue, that is Canadian

    ReplyDelete
  23. ROokie Blue is filmed in Toronto and is a Canadian show, so id you think it's filmed in NY, then it's not RB.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I dont think it's Rookie Blue because it doesnt have any real cast departures.....

Also I dont think it's anything like H-50 or Dexter because it mentions "police uniform". So many shoes like H-50, CSI, Law and Order, etc. do not have the characters in actual uniforms. It's more street clothes.

I'm willing to be money on this being Southland.

I know it's said that a lot of people watch it...but I don't know a single person who does.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jennifer Carpenter's character wore her police uniform alot this season because she became cheif and would wear them during press conferences. Just sayin. Not to mention she wore them alot when the show first started because she started of a police officer, then investigator, then cheif.

  26. I love this addition to the site. I have suspected for several weeks now that due to the Hmmmm coverage, Enty is getting many more blinds sent to him from people in the industry -- which is why he has been able to step up the pace and salaciousness of them. This kind of confirms it - Enty must have enough crew members sending him stories that he can publish them regularly.

I don't have a guess on the show or actors; police dramas aren't my taste.

  27. OK, I accidentally deleted my first comment but if it's Southland then Emily Bergl for the actress with the accent (she was raised in Chicago but born in the UK so I'm sure she can pull an accent out when needed). And wasn't the show originally on NBC and then moved to TNT due to low ratings? Hence the "everybody knows about it but nobody watches it."

Also, if I walked in on Ben McKenzie during sexy times my first instinct wouldn't be to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  28. No guess, but this reminds of why I'm glad I never really got into the business. I just couldn't deal with that type of world. Reading this makes me appreciate my mundane, anonymous life that much more.

    ReplyDelete
  29. My love for Ben McKenzie does not allow me to accept the possibility that this could be him.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Please don't let this have anything to do with Ben McKenzie. Unfortunately though, this fits SouthLAnd perfectly.

  32. I think it's Southland. I watch the show, which is excellent imo, but nobody else I know does. The actor's Ben McKenzie.

The crew member would think since he played a cool character on The OC and always seems nice in interviews he'd be really chill.

Lucy Liu for the actress. She seems like someone who'd get along with people easily. Emily Bergl is the one who split.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This new addition to the blog is AWESOME, Enty!!

The cop show that everyone talks about but no one watches characterization made me think Southland. But, I am surprised about the alleged douchbaggery of the actors. It seems like a show in which actor actors would be on it. Not that I watch it. Hee.

I get a vibe from the blind that the show is filmed in NYC. But, I guess that's not 100 percent clear.

    ReplyDelete
  34. the source said he had worked there for a couple years and that it had been on a little while before that

that rules out dexter, which has been on for like 6 years, so shaddup about dexter.

rookie blue fits the timeline as does southland.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Couldn't be MCH/Stiles - she wasn't a cop (no uniform). I don't think the actress was Carpenter either, she hasn't worn a uniform in a few years.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't watch cop shows, but I don't think this could be Ben. He was my client for a bit and when he was late to a session brought me a Starbucks card. He also listens to NPR. How can he be a tool? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought of Southland as well, but I think it's too popular to fit. But if it is Southland, how about the guy who plays Ben's partner for the asshole? What is is name?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I know Shawn Hatosy, well, I guess I should say KNEW Shawn Hatosy and he wasn't a tool.

That being said, I hope its not him and that the hollywood machine hasn't fucked him up. His wife and his sister are both lovely people, from what I can remember, as well. (Plus, he's got like, a 3 year old now =\)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am thinking "Southland" too unfortunately. I don't think it is Ben or Shawn though because of the wording: "by this other actor who has been on the show." That makes it sound like someone who has popped up on the show. Those two are leads. Maybe someone who's only been on a few times? This season there were a couple appearances by Lou Diamond Phillips.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hmmm. Or maybe "by this other actor who has been on the show" just means someone who has been on the show all along compared to the actress that just joined. Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love Southland, and hope this isnt Shawn...I consider him my TV boyfriend:)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I echo the sentiments that while MCH may in fact he a tool (super hot and very sadly for me, but still) this cannot possibly be about Dexter for a variety of reasons. Lots of people watch it, no main characters actually wear police uniforms regularly at this point (with maybe one or two exceptions last season), etc. And Lila's accent was cool? What??? Plus that was like 5 years ago.

Also glad to hear Shawn Hatosy (another Dexter tie-in) is a nice guy IRL. Sadly for you Southland/Ben M. fans I have heard that he was not such a nice guy in @ UVa per a variety of firsthand reports-- drama a$$hole is the one I remember the most. Here's hoping he's changed his rumored ways.

  43. Sorry, I can't get past the part in which this person has been a PA for at least 2 seasons. By now if this person was remotely liked by anyone in production they would ave been moved up to an assistant with in a department. No, what we have here is someone bitter who is lashing out via a gossip site. Take it all with a grain of salt. Odds are 90% of this is unfounded, and this person won't make it a 3rd season at their job.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Great guess cdanluvya!!!
I love Southland! I have watched it for a few seasons now. There are quite a few actors who come and go on that show. C Thomas Howell is amazing. Lucy Lui wore a uniform and was new this past season. Emily Bergl is listed as being on Seasons 1-4, but I don't remember seeing her this past season. Arija Bareikis was definitely not on this season.

  45. Love the new addition Enty!!

  46. I dunno, all I know is I CANNOT WAIT for July!!! Whoo doggy! Shit is gonna be good! Almost as good as New Year's Day! Damn, so long to wait...

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't think it's Southland. The way it's filmed, they normally are on location. I'm assuming that they don't have the same setup as other shows. With Emily Bergl, she wasn't on a lot last season and the BI sounds like the actress was on the set alot. And Ben McKenzie and Lucy Liu, I think they only had one scene this season and it was on location otherwise they didn't film together.

If this is Southland and Lucy Liu is the actress, the person she mainly had scenes with is Michael Cudlitz.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Why do I feel I've read this already? Anyone else feel like that?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Southland is the guess, I think. And Lucy Lui, because I'm straight, and she is one of the only 'woman getting banged before my eyes' that I'd have a hard time tearing myself away from wanting to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Didn't Southland get dropped by NBC when Jay Leno began his abortive, 10:00 p.m. time slot talk show? I thought it was considered a little too intense for the earlier time slot (never actually seen the show, like most others, it seems.)
I'd like this post to serve as a clarion call to all the other anonymous PAs on TV shows and in movies who have an axe to grind and juicy gossip to spill--undercover, so to speak. Let's hear it!

  52. Rizzoli and Isles?

  53. "if I walked in on Ben McKenzie during sexy times my first instinct wouldn't be to leave."

It would not be mine either. Really hoping this is not Ben M. He's delicious & would hate to think he's a douche. I've already lost Ryan Reynolds!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have no guesses for this one but I really like this addition to the blog. Thanks, Enty!

    ReplyDelete
  55. If you aren't watching Southland, you should be. It is riveting, quality television.

    ReplyDelete
  56. So since the HG "blind" has proven a hit amongst you, Enty decided to continue dipping into the pool of RL fanfiction?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Um, tons of people watch Dexter and it's in, what? It's 5th season? This person said they've worked on the show for 2 years and it's only been on a little longer than they've worked there. It's definitely not a show that popular that's been on for that many seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ben McKenzie's photo was posted recently, so I'm sure it's him for the blind.
