The Living Doll
What do you think about this living doll Venus Palermo? She is 15 and spends her free time trying to look like a doll. Like one of those things you buy as a kid. That picture above is actually her. She has 10 million hits on YouTube so the pedos must be really working overtime and it just freaks me out. It is like she wants to be a Japanese anime come to life or something. It is not that she is doing anything illegal, it just seems creepy. That being said it will probably make her rich and then she will end up marrying some guy who wants to be Ken and then they will breakup because Ken will realize he really wants to be with Barbie because it is the natural thing, but Barbie will continue to have an affair with GI Joe because there is something about Ken she can't quite put her finger on. Pssst. Barbie. Could be the fact he is missing something down below if you know what I mean. Has anyone talked to Venus' parents? They must be involved to some extent and approve because this girl goes through a ton of makeup.
I saw this on TV, and the mother supports her, saying it is harmless. I disagree, but hey, I grew out of playing with dolls when I was 10.
ReplyDeleteI just want to hug her and tell her that everything will be alright.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess it is working on me.
I almost started screaming like Bruce Campbell at the end of Evil Dead 2.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of her video chats and her mum was right next to her.
ReplyDeleteDon't understand - at ALL - how you could let your daughter do this, knowing why people watch her. Hell, I'm scared to let the short one post ANYTHING on youtube, for fear some pedo will jerk off to it.
LMAO @Vicki
ReplyDeleteThe Evil Dead is one of my favorite horror movies and damn Bruce used to look so good. He seems like a real cool dude.
Anyway, um, where the hell is her nose?
CREEPY!
My 8 year old daughter, into japanese everything, loves her. She photoshops most of her photos to make her eyes look bigger and her mouth look smaller. She is a cute girl, regardless. At least she's not doing the "sexy" crap. All in all, I really don't have an issue with her. If you can't have fun with fashion at 15, when can you?
ReplyDeleteIs she naturally like that or did mom and dad pay for some work for her?
ReplyDeleteBased on the image and her name, I thought this was about a sex doll.
ReplyDeleteOff to YouTube!
That image is heavily Photoshopped to make her eyes look big and her mouth small.
ReplyDeleteIf this girl were Japanese, I don't think anyone would be paying attention.
@Beth that's what my first thought was too.
ReplyDeleteEither way, f'n creepy.
Wow that is creepy. I thought it was a sex doll and realized she is a real girl.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm thinking about that recurring skit on SNL - where Taran Killam and Vanessa Bayer are the college kids who want to be Japanese pop stars
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese have been doing this for a long time. I have family there and it's all over Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteI'm not into it but her clothes were covering her up and not slutty.
This is better than that furry stuff huh?
@Vicki - that's the second time in a week! Stop it! (looking for paper towels)
ReplyDeleteBe fair Enty, GI Joe doesn't have all his bits and tackle either.
There's a whole bunch of these kawaii chicks on youtube. They remind me of children of the corn, but hey, that's me.
ReplyDeleteROFL!!! Enty you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of that Kiki Kannibal chick I read about in Rolling Stone last year. She developed a huge yspace following and eventually couldn't ever leave her house. She was posting scantily clad pictures of herself at 13.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to the article. I hope it doesn't happen to this little girl.

Hold me. I'm frightened.
ReplyDeleteShe is scary
ReplyDeleteWeird and pointless.

ReplyDeleteyou can make your eyes look like that with out photoshop. Just contacts, falsies and makeup. I have a friend that is into that. there is some controversy about the contacts, however.
ReplyDeleteLOL Enty for the Drama of the Dolls.
ReplyDeleteI will never understand why anyone wants to look like Japanese anime, their physical proportions are just as bad and creepy as Barbie.
I guess one positive point is at least she's not a 35 year old doing this...though I suppose it remains to be seen whether she will still be doing this in 20+ years.
Pinocchio was trying to become a real boy...and this girl is trying to become a real doll.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't look like this in her videos at all. This is an extreme photoshopped pic.
The only thing I have a problem with... or more of a worry for, is her prancing around in short skirts dressed like a 5 yr old. She's definitely a pedo target. Her mother is an idiot for letting her post these on youtube. It seems innocent and sweet, but not with the crazies that are out there in the world. Celebs with bodyguards have stalkers...I can only imagine what could possibly happen to this girl.
I'm more concerned about the fact that she has no nose...when her mouth is closed, how does she breathe?
ReplyDelete@discoflux
ReplyDeleteI read that article. I hate Kiki Kannibal's mom and dad. What a bunch of idiots!
Creepy, but then I'm not 15.
ReplyDeleteWhat's annoying is watching her interview as she talks in that clipped, fake babydoll voice like a giggling geishsa. Where is she from? Her mom sounds Italian, so I don't think they're actually from Japan, which makes it seem even worse, somehow.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, the Harajuku kids (where Gwen got her backup singers) make this girl seem normal--you'd find many a Venus Palermo (and more extreme!) there.
This reeks of fetishism.
ReplyDeleteAs a mother of a teen daughter, this is not something I would be tolerant of.
Even if this was an innocent interest of the girl, there are plenty of men in the world (cough, Japan) who would be sexually idealizing her. With the press coverage and her growing infamy, it could potentially be dangerous.
There are plenty of sick people who could become obsessed with her and stalk her.
Maybe as a parent in the internet age I am a little overprotective, but watch Dateline NBC (although I really don't) and you'll see the possibilities exist in a very real sense.
I don't teach my kids to be afraid of the world, but you must be wary. Allowing your teen daughter to become a sexual icon for men that would feel more comfortable in a relationship with a doll, a plaything, without human feelings and interaction, seems very risky to me.
I agree! Her mom has let this go too far. My 12 year old loves the Kawaii look. No problem, she is a pretty girl with unique flair and as long as it doesn't get into the fetish realm I can deal with her liking the look. At this age they change styles a lot.
DeleteSo, of course I had to find out more about this girl and her lack of nose (she does have one).
ReplyDelete@Robert - She's Austrian/Hungarian/Swiss.
I only got thru one post on her blog.... o_O
I think this child looks adorable and don't see anything wrong with what she's doing but then again I'm not a pedophile.
ReplyDeleteOne word - CREEPY.
ReplyDeleteShe's 15 .. Maybe it's a phase or maybe its performance art or maybe she has a fetish for life. Whatevz.. I see nothing she's doing is sinister and people shouldn't live their lives according to someones reaction. Besides she's 15.. Pedos don't give a eff about 15 year olds and skeezy older guys that want to do teens will do ANY teen.. And probably are least likely to wanna hook up with the creepy chick .. I like her look but it has a certain sub-culture feel to it that doesn't come across as sexy per se.. More .. Gothy or something .. Whatever I'm high.. Moving on
ReplyDeleteI hope she has a back-up plan for her life because quirky babydoll may not play when she's 40.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the episode of Hoarders where the lady hoarded dolls and had a doll hospital where she'd perform surgery reattaching limbs from one doll to another and sew up suture? What would happen if..............
ReplyDeleteOkay I watched a video and I'm sorry to sugget this but perhaps she's a little "slow". Maybe she's a child mentally. Just a thought.
