In a story that Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips was trying to be interesting and discuss about the time he and Ke$ha almost took acid together turned into something way more interesting when he said, "When I got to her house, she said, 'I've never taken acid, so I can't sing about that stuff,'" said Coyne. "She's done lots of other drugs, but not acid. So she was like, 'Why don't we do some acid, and then I can sing about it.' She told her assistant, 'Go get us some acid.'"
Apparently her assistant is a drug finding expert. The thing that I found so interesting about the interview is that he says that Ke$ha has done lots of other drugs. To me that means that she has done the range from pot to coke to mushrooms to pills, but does "lots of other drugs," include heroin? She does not have that waif like look that heroin can give you. I am also guessing she does not do crack for the same reasons. Probably not meth because she does have all her teeth. Hello Charlie Sheen.
"Done drugs" and being a full-blown addict can be entirely different matters. By the time I graduated high school, I tried most drugs, with the exceptions of heroin and crack. After high school, I'd been there, done that, and haven't done any drugs since. But I can say I have my done drugs street cred.

God I had a rough week. I'm posting multiple paragraphs regarding Ke$ha. I may have to take my ass to the spa for a massage or something.

ReplyDeleteI cosign with Nola up top. Not everyone becomes an addict. I was actually kinda suprised by this....she always stuck me as a "secretly stable" kinda person. Like her whole persona is a put on.

ReplyDeleteNot everyone who does heroin is rail-thin. I've seen plenty of average-sized, chubby, and seriously overweight junkies.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people who lived through their teens and 20s have acquired their share of "doing drugs" along the way.
ReplyDeleteI've done coke, pot and E a few times and I would say this is practically nun-like to average in the drug history spectrum. At least as far as SF Bay Area, CA is concerned.
So yeah, especially in the music world, for Kesha to have "done lots of other drugs", I'm not surprised or impressed.
Though I havent done Acid personally (or any hallucinogenics) because my friend told me she had an acid flashback 10 years after she had her last acid experience and it was at the grocery store---she actually SAW TOASTERS BREATHING at her!!!

ReplyDeleteNever took anything, and still have 1 left of the 6-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade I bought for new year's eve of 2010-2011 (14 and a half months ago). So I guess I wouldn't be able to sing about anything. Except Tylenol 3 for root canals--not anthem-worthy.

Im not surprised by this. I just figured that she does drugs. I mean if she is wearing those crazy clothes sober then thats a whole other story!

ReplyDeleteAlso, meth is only going to fuck up your teeth if you smoke it. Most of the meth heads I've encountered over the years have snorted it, and their skin/teeth are fine.
This is coming from someone who has "done lots of drugs," and has never/will never be like Charlie Sheen. Doing drugs =/= addict.
@Beth I think Wayne Coyne will hang out with pretty much anybody. I've seen him talk a fan's ears off to the point where the fan was like, "Ok, great talking to you, gotta go," and Wayne just kept on going. He has no snobbery about him whatsoever. I adore him.
ReplyDeleteI've done lots of other drugs. I don't exactly count heroin on that list but it's sorta shades of grey since we have delicious designer drugs and synthetic pain killers, both of which are horribly habit forming and equally fun. I have never had a flashback from acid/mushrooms, which is a shame since I had some incredible times on hallucinogens and really wouldn't mind re-living them!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be incredibly shocking if a 'musician' was totally straight edge. So this is pretty much a non-story.
@jasmine I too am in the bay area and I guess everyone equates it with acid. Frankly seeing toasters breathe would be kinda cool but guess that's just me. And although I lived with a rock and roller most of my drug use was after we broke up. I sometimes still like an alternate universe. Do I do that to avoid work? No. Just some people go by the creed of trying everything at least once.

ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldnt mind toasters breathing at me (LOL) but I would like to choose the time and place that happened. Walking around Safeway with two young kids in the middle of the work week and having a flashback does not sound super fun to me ;)
She has the body of a 45-year-old woman, so I'm not surprised she's done a lot.
