Jennifer Hudson's Testimony
Yesterday Jennifer Hudson took the stand in the murder trial of William Balfour. Jennifer said she has known William for most of her life but has never liked him. Balfour is accused of murdering three members of Jennifer's family. In the opening statement by Balfour's defense attorney, she says the police got the wrong guy because they were in a hurry to catch someone because of the connection to Jennifer Hudson. Balfour and Jennifer Hudson's sister split, but Balfour was always jealous and apparently killed his ex because she got balloons from another man. I can't imagine what it was like for Jennifer to take the stand and have to talk about the death of your mom and sister and nephew. She testified about having to identify the bodies because no one else could do it.
Good lord. Poor Jennifer. I hope he gets life sentences for each murder.
ReplyDeleteshe has suffered so horribly and she is amazingly strong. I hope she's ok.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Chi temporarily and have been able to watch the extensive coverage. I hope justice is thoroughly done.
ReplyDeleteI thought he killed her brother not her sister, because i remember her sister being on tv asking for her son to be returned before his body was found
ReplyDeleteIt was her mom, brother and nephew that were killed. The sister is still alive.
ReplyDeleteVery, very tragic.. The strenght of the human psyche and soul becomes apparant for me in cases like this. The mere fact that facing a tragedy like this doesnt destroy Jennifer give me the notion that she is a strong young lady. I feel for her and anyone else affected in her family.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the man who alledgedly did it, I don't know if regular, gen pop prison is really that bad of a punishment for a crime like this.. Put this asshole in complete solitary for at least a year and lets see what level of sanity he has left.
It was said on this morning's news that the balloons her sister received were from Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteIf that's not a living nightmare, I don't know what is. My heart goes out to her.
ReplyDeleteHeart breaking. That is just heart breaking.
ReplyDeleteThis is a horrifying situation. I am happy that she has her own little boy to bring her joy after such loss.
ReplyDeleteThis woman has STRENGTH
ReplyDeleteOn the Today show, they said that in testimony that it was said that Balfour told the sister that he would kill her whole family before he killed her so she would have to suffer through that.
ReplyDeleteAwful tragedy....
It was her mom, nephew, and BROTHER that were murdered. Her sister was not harmed (physically).

My very positive thoughts and hugs are with Jennifer, who is amazingly strong.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, in that court artist's rendering- it looks more like Marla "227" Gibbs on the witness stand.
ReplyDeleteNYPost says Jennifer was the first to testify because you can't watch the trial until you testify and she wants to be there every day.
ReplyDeleteThat young woman has strength and this situation is horrible. Poor girl.
I feel so bad for her that she has to go through this. I hope this guy gets everything he deserves.
ReplyDeleteIf someone I dated/married did that to my family, I'd never date/marry again. I would have to enter the convent or become a monk.
ReplyDeletemy god. identifying the bodies must have been just awful.
ReplyDeleteI saw her on the morning news and she said her fiance called her at the last minute to come to see him in California--she was packing to visit her mother and if he hadn't asked her to change her plan she would have been in the house when this guy came and killed them. She is very brave to put herself through this and I hope her being there helps get him convicted.
ReplyDelete^That is horrifying. Poor Jennifer. I hope they lock this bastard up for life.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little distracted by the artist rendering of the trial. It's really bothering me, they didn't finish drawing the witness stand or the rest of that man's body.
