How You Know When Your Congressman Is An Idiot

I know there are 435 members of Congress and you might not know everyone there. The last election cycle was almost two years ago so I guess its possible you might not have got around to seeing everyone yet, but don't you think that if one of the members of Congress looked like Chrissy Teigen that you would probably remember it. There just could not be that many members of Congress who are also Victoria's Secret models. Last night at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Chrissy went with John Legend. A Congressman asked Chrissy who she was and she replied that she was a Congressperson. The guy totally believed her and started chatting about business. Chrissy held it together as long as possible and then walked away with the guy still believing her.

  2. If this story is true, believe me, the congressman knew she was not a US representative. Men love talking to beautiful women.

Like Enty said, all the congresspeople don't know each other. That said, she's attractive, and that should have tipped him off. Everyone in D.C. is fug.

  4. Hi Enty,

You are falling into that pothole calling the House of Representatives the Congress. While we may address members of the House as Congressman or Congresswoman. Congress is both houses 535 members or 536 if you count the VP as a member of the Senate.

435 is the House and yes the guy is an idiot.

  5. How about revealing the name of the dopey guy who believe her?

  6. Not sure why this guy is an idiot for believing her, or at least pretending to believe her. What is he going to do? Call her a liar?

  7. She tweeted that last night, some of her comments were pretty funny. Pretty sure she's never been in VS, she's famous for SI's swimsuit edition.

  10. Because attractive women can't be in Congress (or whatever the right term is, I'm not American)?

  11. If that congressman had disbelieved her, he would have been getting slammed in the press the next day as a sexist bastard. So he gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Frankly, she seems like the asshole of this story.

  13. B. Profane- I agree with you.

  14. No, Anita, because if someone that conventionally attractive were in Congress, people would know about it. Look at that one guy with the 6-pack that TMZ is always following around...

  15. Not everyone follows the tabloids/TMZ, etc.

But agreed that he'd look like an ass if he didn't believe her and she kind of looks like an idiot for lying/ joking.

  18. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard -- of course he knew. She sounded like an idiot and he was being polite to a beautiful woman.

  19. There were plenty of Congress members in the audience last night. No, they don't all go, but quite a few do.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen were probably there on the White House guest list. John does a lot of work with some education foundations, they've been to DC functions a few times in the last year or so. I follow both of them on twitter.

  20. I think he gets a pass for either not knowing or pretending not to know. Chrissy Teigen is gorgeous, but merry prankster she is not, at least in this case.

  21. You missed my point, Anita; Enty was saying that anyone youthful and attractive would stand out in Congress and it'd be unlikely that another member wouldn't have noticed them before.
