Axl Rose Is Still A Jerk

If you thought age would mellow Axl Rose, you would be wrong. Lana Del Rey will figure that out the first time Axl goes into some kind of rage against her and she sees all of her illusions shattered. It is always best to leave your heroes be someone you don't meet because many times you will be disappointed. Remember the first time Guns N Roses reunited with just Axl and Duff I think. It was at the MTV Video Music Awards and everyone was so excited to hear them play for the first time in forever and they sucked. It was like they went from stadiums to a garage in one day. Yesterday Axl said that he refuses to be inducted into the Rock N Roll hall Of Fame because it would be as a part of the original Guns N Roses and he just can't get over the fact that anyone from that group did not like him and that it completely fell apart once Axl did his whole thing. If you have never read Slash's biography you should pick that bad boy up. Great read and Slash is not shy about speaking his mind or talking about all the people his mother had sex with. I know, that part was a little disturbing too.

Axl is just being a selfish ass like he has been his whole life but in particular since 1996 when the band broke up. You don't have to perform together or anything. You don't even have to show up although it would be nice. But to say you don't even want the award? That is some kind of bs, "I'm an artist and they did not appreciate my music," thing.

  2. omg what a little bitch he is having a tantrum over this. Artists live for the moment to get inducted.

I saw them with Metallica in '92 and most of the night Axl was bitching about everything. But when they performed it was magic.

    What an ungrateful brat.

  3. I saw them on the same tour Timebob. He is a whiny bipolar maniac, but damn that group had magic

  4. Loved the group! Hated Axl. I met Slash and Duff when they toured with Velvet Revolver. Fun night. Duff was a big dork. Slash was the epitome of cool. And very young looking. Looks as young now as he did back in the late 80's. Duff looked like he could be my grandpa.

  5. Oh, go ahead and have your little hissy fit. Let me know on your deathbed if it was worth it. Actions have consequences, and sometimes you pay the price, not "them."

  6. There is a difference in being an artist and an ass. Axl-you are an ass. Don't want the award? Don't go to the ceremony and don't accept the package when it comes from the Hall.

  7. I never could stand that Asshat. I felt like the only one in Highschool who didn't want desperatly to go see them play. Still don't. Now Slash, kinda like him. He at least has some panache

  8. I used to like guns and roses back in their hayday. I did like axl but now he is just an angry bitch. I do like Slash!

  9. It's weird how Slash doesn't age. I didn't know he had a book. May just have to read that.

  10. Anybody remember seeing them at C.B.G.B.'s in October 1987? Earlier during that week my friend and I physically held Slash up outside the Plaza Hotel until 'handlers' came out and retrieved him. We were given full access as a reward. Axl was still semi coherent at that time. Slash, when semi sober, was the best. What a great night.

  11. Love original GnR. So what if Axl doesn't want the award? His loss, but he doesn't seem to think so! As long as he doesn't hold the others back from being inducted (which I don't think he is?? unless Im misunderstanding). Im sure they'll enjoy the event more without him.

  12. Whatta whiny little bitch. And I agree Slash has some panache.

As for meeting heros, I did meet Tim Gunn and he was a superbly lovely man.

Please someone feel me in on Roxie Roker's sexual dalliances?

Slash had mommy issues at one time. I was saddened by her death to breast cancer. :(

  14. *sigh* It's true, Enty. I met a musician a few years back that I'd adored for a decade and he ended up being one of the biggest assholes I've ever met. Like, made me break down in tears assholey. Since that night, I have not listened to one note of anything he's ever done. Dick hole.

As for Axl, until he has that ah-ha moment where humility settles in, we'll keep getting these little nuggets of of genius.

  15. Lady Chatterly, Roxy isn't Slash's mom (she's Lenny Kravitz's.) Slash's mom was a costume designer for David Bowie.

  16. It's called the little penis syndrome, thus the reason why he's the way he is.

  17. I, too, witnessed the Metallica/ G n' R Tour...it was amazing, and Axl happened to be in a great mood on that particular day and only a little bit late *L*.
I also saw them on another tour (with Skid Row, I believe. I could be wrong). I LOVED them back in the day, they were just the coolest thing I had ever heard at the time.
Slash's book is great, by the way. Loved it!

As for Axl...I wish he'd get over himself. And now, once again, I have the guitar solo from "Estranged" stuck in my head.

  19. "It's So Easy: and other lies" by Duff McKagan is an interesting read. Duff is a decent writer. He also writes an online column for ESPN.

  20. Never a big Crue fan but I read "The Dirt..." and loved it. Lots of interesting bits.

@Agent... - Duff used to write for a weekly rag here, his stuff wasn't too bad.

Can see there's a trip to the library in my future, wouldn't mind reading both Slash & Duff's books.

  21. It's been awhile since I read Slash's autobiography, but I don't remember it talking about his mom's sex life a lot. It did mention a few of her boyfriends, but nothing weird. At least that's what I remember.

@Agent**It - I didn't know Duff has a book out. I will definitely have to read that. Didn't he get a degree in finance in the early 90's? I don't know why, but I love that.

  22. I refuse to admit that I watched Duff on Dr. Phil .. but maybe that's how I found about the book...

  23. I lost my shit when they played the VMAs. I remember that night and the day after so vividly because I was that fucking excited. But then the ensuing weeks and months came, and I felt so let down.

  24. It's not true that no one in the band liked him. As obnoxious as he was, there was still a lot of loyalty from their end and Slash in particular to this day is still very protective of Axl. He cannot stand anybody dissing Axl in front of him. It's funny.

Also, he doesn't just talk about the people his mom had sex with, he talks about his father, himself and everyone else... except his now wife, who reportedly was a prostitute (and friends with Charlie Sheen).
He never once mentions how she earned her living. even though he had no problem talking about how his other women were strippers, porn stars, etc...

I know of several people who have dealt with Axl, some who are friends with him, and he is by all accounts a very complex and difficult individual. He does seem to have mellowed with age, but still cannot be trusted to be reasonable and sensible.

  25. These tidbits about Duff are fascinating. Love him.

These books sound like must-read material.

I hope Axl's opinion isn't preventing his fellow bandmates from the honor. What is Axl's beef with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He should be honored. WTF? So sad to go through life with such a chip on your shoulder.

discoflux - I have to ask who the musician is?!?

  26. @Susan - you're going to let us known when your boy walks, right? I left too early yesterday to add that to the conversation. I'm hoping for a comment from you to let me know!

  27. God I loved GnR and particularly Axl back in the day... I still use so many of their songs for running/working out... I was seriously hoping that this Hall of Fame thing would be an opportunity for a real reunion... but clearly Axl continues to destroy anything around him. This is a huge honor and its not about him its about the band. Let's be honest GnR was not all Axl the way some bands are really all one person. If I were Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven, or any of the other cast of characters who were in the "original" lineup I would be so bullsh*t with him. At the same time though it does make me sad because it seems even after all this time, his mental health is not well.

  28. He is such a jackass. I wondered if this had ever been done before? Refusing induction. I wonder how the other band members feel about it?

  29. I think sex pistols refused ?

  30. I was so sad when I found out last night that Axl would not be at teh Hall of Fame. He really needs to work through his grudge.

I've always wondered why the guys never sued Axl for the rights to the Guns N' Roses name. I'm not sure if it's true, but apparently he coerced them into signing any rights to the name in the early 1990's.

Since I missed them in NYC, I'm considering traveling to Europe for a couple of his shows there. W

Axl, Slash and Gilbie were such sexy animals!!!!! I can't stop watching the vidoes for Paradise City, Rocket Queen, November Rain, etc.

  31. Has this band done anything that I would have heard? Note: I have been listening almost exclusively to college radio since 1981.

  32. EmEyeKay - OMG. Thank you for caring about my boy's slowpoke walking. Ha ha. I'm sure I will address it on my amazing blog (please note sarcasm) when he walks hand-held free! He had to get needles today - lead test - OMG. Broke my heart. He's sound asleep right now.
