Warrant Issued For Russell Brand's Arrest

As Russell Brand is learning, you can't just throw an iPhone through a glass window breaking it and expect nothing to happen. It is actually a crime and Russell Brand has had a warrant issued for his arrest. His lawyers told police in New Orleans that he would be happy to pay for the window and there was no need for this whole arrest thing. That is for people who don't have money. They were not going to offer any money until the arrest warrant was issued, then all of a sudden, it is like,"oh, yeah, we can do that and do we need to make a contribution to the police fund to?"

Also there is no mention of actually paying for a replacement iPhone, just the window of the law firm.

  2. What he did was so stupid. U cant just take people's property and then smash a window with it. He needs to take a seat.

  4. Why was he throwing iphones? Who does he think he is? Chris Brown.

  5. What, Chris Brown can get away with destruction of property and this assclown can't?

  6. Since his divorce, the tabloids have been poised to pounce. Doubtless this is just one more thing they are going to turn into more headlines.

  7. Yesterday on Twitter he made a joke(?) that he did it in honor of Steve Jobs memory.
I'm still a bit torn on this one. If this was some regular Joe Schmo that did it, I doubt the police would have even bothered to find out who it was, but because it was someone famous, they are going to the full extent of the law. But think about it, if some random passerby did it to one of us, you think the police would track down who did it even?

  8. @Jesse D - I was wondering the exact same thing. What the hell happened with Chris Brown - that sure went away pretty quietly.

  9. I believe it was the iPhone of one of the papps - and considering their generally reprehensible behavior, I don't see why he should be arrested or pay for the papps phone. Those people are parasites. If he wasn't famous, there would BE NO papps or phones to throw.

On the other hand, he should pay for the window and apologize.

  10. I'm sorry, but as reprehensible as the papps are, he had no right to take someone else's property and smash it through a window. No excuses. As for comparing this to the Chris Brown situation, or to anything similar with a non-celebrity, I believe it is simply a question of whether or not the victim of the damage (phone and/or window) wants to press charges, or settle for restitution. ABC wasn't going to press charges against Brown; they want the story, not a new window. Brand, although goaded, got himself into this situation by losing his cool.

  11. @ Fawn Nuen - "I don't see why he should be arrested or pay for the papps phone. "

I disagree. If we start bending the law for celebrities (more than we already do, ahem LL), then who is to say we can't later bend the law for a pap? They can afford great lawyers too.

And I totally disagree about the police seeking him just because he's a celebrity. He BROKE A FRIGGIN' WINDOW. Of a LAWYERS office. How could he not be sought after?

And Nola only forgives devious behavior if there is a drink in your hand... ;)

  12. I've said this on other posts, but WE are part of the problem. They make money by selling photos to sites like these. If we gossip hounds didn't click to these websites and buy the magazines, there wouldn't be as much money at stake and the paparazzi wouldn't be as aggressive.

  13. If it was me that took someone's phone then threw it at a window breaking it i doubt the cops would let it pass! I know paps are annoying but so r alot of things! It annoying that i have to get stuck in traffic but im not going to knock on someone's car window take their phone and then procede to throw it at a window. Mr brand just needs to settle down!

  15. @BigMama...ITA. They have been waitig to pounce since his divorce.

Personally, If it was my iPhone I'd be so ticked (since I'm beyond attached to it) --- that being said, I don't do anything with it that would anger someone so much that they would be compelled to take it out of my hands and toss it out a window.

  16. What was he doing to be so hett-up? Mr Papp?

  17. so, after he's arrested and spends a whole 8 min of his 60 day jail sentence before they finally let him go with a slap on the wrist...he can then meet up with Lindsay and they can plan their next adventure together.

  18. And he went on to blame the pap! Sorry-I don't care how reprehensible the paps are-you are a public figure walking in public-expect to get your photo taken, idiot!

You can't take someone's property away and destroy it. Restitution for the window is not enough. While that may be part of the sentence, it doesn't fix the crime. Theft and vandalism come to mind and also he could have really hurt someone!!! What was this idiot thinking/??

  19. @EmEyeKay - I'm afraid to look for him! He scares me. I'm going straight home from work and locking all of my doors and windows. He could get his cooties all over me!

The police here love money. There, I straight up said it. In this town, if you have money and a hook up, you can get away with murder. Literally.

  20. No lawyer would ever constantly make the mistake of misusing 'to, too and two' the way this writer does. Just sayin.

  21. @Crila this didn't happen in LA it happend where he is filming a movie New Orleans.

If it had happend in LA he never would of been arrested.

I want to know why charges haven't been pressed against Chris Brown for doing the exact same thing.

  22. @Timebob
Yeah, me too because Chris Brown is on probation. So what gives in Florida?

Also, who cares if it was a pap? Iphones arent't cheap and no one has a right break your stuff. I live in California, and I would get arrested for something like that.
