Victoria Beckham Says No To Spice Girls
All of the Spice Girls were supposedly planning a one off show as part of the Olympics and the debut of a musical about their songs. Think Mamma Mia. Anyway, at one point all of the members of the group were on board, but Victoria Beckham has decided she does not want to be a part of it because she says that is her past and design and fashion are her future and would rather just forget she was ever a part of it. I think what she should realize is that she would have no part of her life without the Spice Girls. None. Zip. Nada. She should be grateful and embrace it and be thankful.
Wasn't it rumored that she has post-partum depression? If so, perhaps that is the true reason. 4 kids is a lot to manage.
ReplyDeleteTouring takes time, and she's already busy and successful with her newest venture.
ReplyDeleteBesides, everyone knows she can't sing, anyway.
I don't blame her one bit.
The only crappy thing about her decision is that it leaves the other four in a tight spot.
ReplyDeleteAside from that, I don't blame her either.
I don't blame her. I wouldn't be who I am without going to high school, but you won't catch me at a reunion...and that doesn't take time seedy from my family.
ReplyDeletePosh doesn't NEED the Spice Girls. I really don;t blame her for not wanting to do this. It's not like England doesn't have any truly GREAT music, and have a real band perform at the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't want to embarrass herself. She is smart.
Just wait until the offer increases exponentially.
ReplyDeleteMoney talks...she'll end up doing it.
Is it only me that thinks she is one skinny pile of ugly? What on earth is a guy as good looking and rich as Beckham doing with her?
ReplyDeleteIf I was asked to represent my country, I'd step up, not matter how I felt. It's only one night for goodness sakes. Yes, it is part of her past, but without Spice Girls she would be just another pretty face in London.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to move on with their life, so no, I don't think she should be faulted for not wanting to look back.
ReplyDeleteI say good for her. Nobody should be forced to do something they're not interested in.
I read a while back that this wasn't a done deal, just something that a lot of people thought would be really cool. I'm not a fan of Victoria Beckham's but it might not be fair to dump on her for this.
ReplyDeleteJust because she doesn't want to do it now doesn't mean she isn't thankful for what it has done for her. Maybe she just wants to move on. It's not like the other Girls would do this gig if they had a lot going on, is it?
ReplyDeleteI think this is quite surprising considering that David Beckham was very active in securing London's bid.
ReplyDeleteThen again, it's not so surprising if she is the postpartum mama who's having trouble with hubs.
No, @Moose, you're not the only one!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be really cool if the Spice Girls reunited, but her life is so different now. She did not have four children and a husband when she was touring the world with the Spice Girls as a 20-something. I could understand her reasoning.
ReplyDeleteDidn't "Baby Spice" leave the group and the rest toured as a foursome? Why can't the others go on without Victoria?
ReplyDeleteChrist, she does have some taste after all.
ReplyDeleteThey did that huge world tour a few years ago. I say leave it at that and let it be.
ReplyDeleteVictoria can't sing anyway.
Anna Wintour would never put her on the cover of Vogue if she did it. Of course, she doesn't realize that Anna Wintour won't ever put her on the cover of Vogue even if she doesn't... so whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am sure she has her reasons, I don't really see why she wouldn't do it. It sounds as if it is only one gig, probably at the opening ceremonies. It's not like she will be actually singing anyway, she will just be standing there mouthing the words. Besides, I bet her kids would get a real kick out of it.
ReplyDeleteI got a feeling all is not well in Posh World right now anyway. :-(
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt they were even asked. England has a ton of fantastic artists and bands from which to choose, why would the Olympics want them? I'm sorry to those that liked them but their music isn't anything a nation should or would be proud of. They were fun, throw away pop at best.
ReplyDeleteI like Scary's outfit and would wear that every day if I could.
It's one night and a few rehearsals. If you trash on your roots, Vicky, it's going to hurt your "brand."
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I disagree with most of you. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't live in the past but you shouldn't forget where you came from. Being in the spice girls made her known. If it wasn't for being in the group she wouldn't be recognized for what she does today. She should be honored if and when they ask her to do something for the group. & for the love of god, it's a one time gig! geez...
ReplyDeleteOne gig? She should suck it up. If it would turn into more than that? Then I totally get why she'd turn it down. She has four kids! Between that and her newest career, doing anything more over that would be a little much and she doesn't have to.
