Speaking Of Placentas, Tori Spelling Is Pregnant Again

Tori Spelling announced yesterday that she was pregnant. I think she was upset that with bigger, higher profile celebrities announcing their pregnancy that no one was noticing that she also had a bump. I think people also forgot she had a baby and if they saw the bump just assumed she was still pregnant with whatever number baby she had before. So, to make sure everyone knew she is pregnant she went ahead and released a statement and now she is happy that she is the center of attention until someone who ranks higher than D list says they are also pregnant or Lindsay Lohan gets arrested, whatever comes first.

Was Tori scarred from growing up in that gargantuan mansion with only her parents and the one brother?

  5. Jeezus, would people just stop having more than two kids???? The planet is too crowed...use some goddamned common sense!!It takes two of you to make one....you may have TWO, tops. If you're a single parent and want a biological child, you may have ONE (but in either case if you're adopting, you may adopt as many as you wish). I will never know why people are so damned arrogant to think their genetic material is sooooo important that it needs to be repeatedly perpetuated. Newsflash...it's not.

i agree w/ Majik ... stop having babies!!

there is nothing "unexpected" about getting pregnant if you're having sex without some form of birth control - he is as equally responsible.

  17. This is what I wrote on fb when I heard about this yesterday:

Okay...I know this is gonna get me in trouble but I am always appalled when I read this type of stuff. Yes, there is nothing wrong with having kids but for gosh sakes- let your body HEAL first before having another! It just gives me vibes of old fashioned era ala when women were really seen as baby machine makers and little else. To pump out baby after baby in so short a period of time makes me feel like it's a step back for the women's movement where women are struggling to be seen as separate from their uterus. All she's really doing is ignoring her health and body to have more procreation happening. To me she is putting babies before her own mental/physical self. And that's ick nast.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agree with the last four. Of all the things you could say about those two, I think it's pretty clear that they love being parents and they're pretty good at it. Their children are beautiful and they've got the means to take beyond-excellent care of them. Let 'em be.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Also, what you do with your body SHOULD and IS your business but we are all one human race living on one planet, and as such having too many kids (and yes I think 4 is too many)is just ignoring the current situation we're all in right now. Over developement/rain forests plowed back to make room for more people and more cows to feed more people/millions starving because not enough resources to go around/environment suffering etc....wanting people to procreate less is a matter of being culturally conscious as a whole, and I dont see anything wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. See, Jasmine, this is what pisses me off about the whole women's movement. Why is it a bad thing if a woman wants to "churn out babies"? Just because *you* wouldn't want to have children that close together doesn't mean other women don't as well. Isn't the whole point of the women's movement to open up the possibilities for women? For women to be able to choose to work OR stay at home? It always has seemed to me that oftentimes women look down on those of us who choose to stay at home rather than work ... the whole point is that it's OUR CHOICE. Don't think of it as a step back. Think of it as SOMEONE ELSE'S DECISION. And support it because she's a woman and she made that choice for herself.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thank you. As a former "career girl" who gave thay up to be a stay at home mom, I can't believe the flack I get for it. The movement was about " choice."

if she is a good mother and can provide for her children and isnt concerned about resting her uterus, then good for her. What concerns me are the mothers of 2+ children on welfare wgo keep having children. I am all about welfare used for it how was designed, but stop having kids if you can't afford them. That's who is irresponsible, not Tori spelling. And I can't stand.the bitch.

  21. Tori and Dean have decided it's up to them to single handedly make sure America stays a white majority country.

  22. How do we know this one was planned? She just had a baby five months ago and is now on her way to having "Irish twins." A lot of people are under the impression that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding. It's wrong and I have the cousins to prove it (born 11 months apart).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wasn't Tori the popular guess (or possibly even revealed as solved on the fb page) for the blind about the pregnant woman who was publicly consuming glass after glass of wine while the expectant father kept filling her up? Can't remember if that was her first or second pregnancy but there were FAS rumors after the child was born as well. If she's still doing that, then no, she doesn't need to constantly be getting pregnant. But they do seem to be comitted parents so I feel pretty meh about this. However, there are some folks who really need to stop having many, many kids. I don't think people should be "capped" at 1 or 2, after all I'm one of 3 kids, but if you can't afford em, stop birthing em. This is why there needs to be more funding for Planned Parenthood, so people have access to birth control, educations, and if necessary, yes, abortions.

  26. Add me to the "bothered" list. I'm a mom of four kids and would like to think that I'm raising them to be environmentally conscious and productive citizens and caretakers of our Earth.

My husband is a photovoltaic engineer and serves on international panels responsible for setting the standards for development and implementation of technology in the solar industry. So, other than skipping showers, buying organic apples and recycling paper bags, what are *you* childless judgmental b*tches doing on a global scale to conserve resources and help reduce our dependency on fossil fuels??? Right, you're sitting on your arse, computer on lap and diligently refilling your BC Rx's. Bravo for being such a good steward of our planet.

I'm pretty sure I'm not in a position to judge whether another human being has a right to exist. I've known many parents with *one* child who seem, from my humble and limited perspective to be a waste of space and resources but the fact remains that I have ZERO ability or right to judge the usefulness of said person or family. Hopefully, my excessive "genetic contributions" will be kinder and more open-minded souls than many on here. At least they will grow up in a family of doers rather than talkers. Sheesh.

  30. I thought the blind was about Jennifer Garner and Ben.

I too chose not to have kids due to the world being over populated. But I love that I had a choice.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous2:07 PM

I think the "ZOMG the world is overpopulated already" people don't really understand the whole situation with world overpopulation.

The "world" isn't overpopulated. Certain parts of it are because of a lack of resources. Those parts do not include North America. North America has the food and other resources (if not the government programs) to support many, many more people than we currently have. It's places like Asia and Africa that are actually overpopulated.

You could argue that we as North Americans use up too much of the world's resources, but, with the exception of oil, that's not really the case. We overproduce food, for instance.

North Americans with the means to support their children aren't hurting anyone or anything by having large families. In fact, with today's declining birth rates, the few who decide to have more than two kids are actually helping "cover the losses" for people like me, who can't/don't have kids.

Finally, I'd be willing to bet that the same people who are pissed off at Tori and Dean are the same people who say that it's no one else's business if a woman chooses to have an abortion. You can't have it both ways -- if having an abortion is a private decision that no one else should get to have an opinion about, so is choosing to have a baby.

  36. @Majik-

I'm not concerned whatsoever with what you do or don't do with your womb. I'm a "glass half full" sort of a gal and as a person with means I'd rather contribute educated young people to the planet who can assist in solving our problems as a species rather than just give up and go home.

Like somebody else already mentioned, much of the developed world has a declining birth rate while 3rd world countries have an increasing birth rate; these children often live in abject poverty and lack the means to receive the necessary education and opportunities that we have in North America to become problem SOLVERS. It's not simply a matter of reducing one's carbon footprint but those of us with the means should be working on creating and implementing ways of improving the quality of life for future generations, no?

Your choice is not global, it's individual and statistically meaningless. Most Americans who choose to remain childless have other overriding motivations for their choice and if they don't, they should, as they don't really understand the complexities of the issue. I'd not want to be born to a mother who felt guilty for my presence because her concern for her carbon footprint was so great. Neuroses that intense and motherhood do not a good combination make, so...I support your decision.

Let's call Tori and tell her not to feel shameful about her latest pregnancy on the grounds that you are choosing to remain childless, shall we?

  38. I guess I just don't understand why anyone would want more than one, maybe two kids in their house. Seriously. I was just at the grocery store, and there were a bunch of tweens running around, smelling of dirty socks and making noise. It was terrifying, and quite gross.

That's the thing...they may be cute little things when they're small and you can dress them up like dolls and they can validate the shit out of you, but then puberty happens. And it's nasty. Imagine having two or three teenager AT THE SAME TIME *shudder*.

  44. Married mommy of four here (would have been 3, but those pesky twins!) We had more than 2 because we love and enjoy children, and we enjoy parenting. We don't think our DNA is superior or any such nonsense.

That being said, dayumn! Let your body heal Tori! I'm sure it was an unexpected pregnancy, but they know how the process works now, maybe they will get a handle on the situation ;)

  45. I agree with Chop Chop, Yeahwhatever, and Texshan. The overpopulation argument is faulty on many levels. Industrialized nations are having major population declines.

I also agree that you can't have it both ways, terminating a pregnancy versus having a child. These are suppose to be valid options for all. If I (politically and legally) allow another woman to terminate her pregnancy than that woman should be able to understand me having my child.

I don't buy that an accidental pregnancy, which this sounds like, is throwing women back to the stone age! That is a major stretch. Tori is not a Duggar yet. This is not her tenth kid.

Also, not all birth control works all the time. I know a lot of people who had accidental pregnancies due to malfunctioning birth control.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @YeahWhatever - Somehow you expressed a lot of what I was thinking but was way too irritated to say. Im an "irish twin" & very thankful that my mother wasnt as concerned with destroying the planet by giving birth to me.

  47. oh my...

@dia papaya - I won't get into the miraculous wonder that is the vagina but I guarantee you that birthing a baby won't stretch out your lady parts beyond recognition or render you permanently fat or disfigured. I've birthed and nursed four "parasites" and am easily in better shape than most childless 25-year-olds and know a handful of other moms who are, too. I live in CA by the beach and still wear bikinis, hon. That's why I keep having kids - I look so irresistible, LOL. I've never breastfed an alien, though and am not into *that* - I'm sure it's different.

You can "do the diapers" after you've f*cked around long enough and had enough "adventures," I promise. I'v even had the pleasure of meeting mothers who were able to live happy and fulfilling lives when they became mothers earlier in life than they had planned. It's something called perspective and it comes with age and experience. The funny thing is that children are actually PEOPLE who don't stay in diapers for too long and will gladly accompany you on your adventures. You were once a child, too. Amazing, right?

Not all women who choose to become mothers are boring, ugly hags working 2 jobs to save for college. Maybe you can even be bright enough to have your parasites' college paid for before they are born like some of us have. Don't limit yourself.

I support my fellow childless ladies, too, like most of the mothers on this site. It's not a damn competition and there's no right or wrong way to live but parenthood is something to be respected- PERIOD. It's HARD and more rewarding than you have the ability to grasp at this point in your life, clearly.

I don't care if my own children choose to procreate or not but they better DAMN WELL show equal respect for women regardless and basing a decision to avoid motherhood due your own vanity is beyond me. Phew, girl. My son ever brings somebody like you home and I'll show you the door and slap him upside the head. (If you are between the ages of 17 and 23 like I suspect you are than I'll forgive your ignorance and be grateful most women your age are more evolved.)

When your last sentence reads, "I'm sure I'll get slammed..." that's a clue that everything written prior is likely garbage and you should delete it prior to looking a FOOL. FYI.

  54. ooopsitsme, "if the planet cannot support us, we would not be here" is not a completely accurate statement. In population ecology, there are things called time lags, in which a population does not respond immediately to something like lack of food, crowding, and widespread disease. All of the these above mentioned things (and more) are major impacts of populations when they come close or have exceeded their carrying capacity (google it). There are many examples of this occurring in nature and in lab conditions. Populations don't grow exponentially forever, eventually they fall, and oftentimes crash (depending how far they exceed carrying capacity) The question is, of course, have we exceeded our carrying capacity?. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Population_curve.svg

They are intelligent, talented, charming, polite, respectful and "hygienic" individuals that I am proud to claim as my sons and I enjoy spending time with them immensely. Usually more than I do with my adult friends and acquaintances. It's not that everyone shouldn't have multiple children, just those that allow them to grow up to be smelly and scary, right?

  59. from The Population Bomb - revisited

Retrospectively, Ehrlich believes that The Population Bomb was "way too optimistic".[9]

However, many critics have disputed Ehrlich's central thesis about overpopulation and its effects on the environment and human society, his solutions, as well as some of his specific predictions, as presented in numerous books, articles and public appearances since the late 1960s.
Wheat yields in developing countries, 1950 to 2004, kg/HA baseline 500

One frequent criticism focuses on Ehrlich's allegedly alarmist tone and sensational statements.

Ehrlich has made a number of statements or "predictions" in a variety of settings that have turned out to be false. Ronald Bailey of Reason Magazine has called him an "irrepressible doomster ... who, as far as I can tell, has never been right in any of his forecasts of imminent catastrophe."[18]

On the first Earth Day in 1970, he warned that "[i]n ten years all important animal life in the sea will be extinct. Large areas of coastline will have to be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish."[18]

In a 1971 speech, he predicted that: "By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people ... If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000."[18]

When this scenario did not come to pass, he responded that "When you predict the future, you get things wrong. How wrong is another question. I would have lost if I had had taken the bet. However, if you look closely at England, what can I tell you? They're having all kinds of problems, just like everybody else."[18]

Ehrlich wrote in The Population Bomb that, "India couldn't possibly feed two hundred million more people by 1980."[13]

A common reply to this criticism is that it was precisely the alarmist rhetoric that prevented the catastrophes he warned of.

Carl Haub of the Population Reference Bureau has said, "It makes no sense that Ehrlich is now criticized as being alarmist because his dire warnings did not, in the main, come true. But it was because of such warnings from Ehrlich and others that countries took action to avoid potential disaster."[19]

In the 1960s and 70s when Ehrlich made many of his most alarming warnings, many respected population experts, politicians, and scientists agreed with even his most pessimistic estimates.

There was a widespread belief among experts that population growth presented an extremely serious threat to the future of human civilization,[12] although differences existed regarding the severity of the situation, and how to approach it.

Some have criticized Ehrlich's proposed solutions to the problems he describes. For example, Barry Commoner criticized his 1970 statement that "When you reach a point where you realize further efforts will be futile, you may as well look after yourself and your friends and enjoy what little time you have left. That point for me is 1972."[20]

Dan Gardner, among others,[14] has criticized him for endorsing the strategies to avoid the worst effects of famine that William and Paul Paddock proposed in their book Famine 1975! They had proposed a system of "triage" that would cut off food aid to "hopeless" countries such as India and Egypt. In Population Bomb

Ehrlich suggests that "there is no rational choice except to adopt some form of the Paddocks' strategy as far as food distribution is concerned." Had this strategy been implemented, in countries such as India and Egypt, which were reliant on food aid at that time, they would almost certainly have been plunged into famines.[12] As it turned out, both Egypt and India have greatly increased their food production and now feed much larger populations without reliance on food aid.[14]
