Peter Facinelli Files For Divorce
The same day that Jennie Garth did a "I tried to save our marriage," cover for Kneepads, Peter Facinelli filed for divorce. Obviously Kneepads has decided to take sides and feels like Jennie Garth's story is much more sympathetic. Well, yeah, if someone is cheating, that is probably the route to go. Peter said in his divorce filing the couple separated on January 1, so that must have been one heck of a warm holiday period. It probably came down to Peter wanting to spend time with another woman over the holidays rather than with the family. I think this will be interesting to watch over the next few weeks. Peter has someone who really wants to be seen in public with him so I would expect that soon.
I thought Jennie would have filed first.
ReplyDeleteWhy would she come out right away and say there was no cheating involved if he IS involved with someone else??
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I definitely thought she would be the one filing.
ReplyDeleteThat tells me she was hoping to eventually pull this thing back out of the fire. I don't know if I could forgive cheating, but for the sake of my kids and 11 years of marriage, I would have to consider it. He's the one who has moved on.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sad to see these things when I think, the affair perhaps resulted from his popularity on the Twilight films (and the reported on-set craziness everyone was participating in)...but the films are all over now, and he's going to go back to semi-obscurity. How long before he regrets giving up what he had? Why do people let themselves get sucked in like this?
Is it Brenda??? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think for her kids sake she should have left it out of the press. It make s their Dad look like a douche, which he may be but as the mother you shouldn't do that. I do feel for her but you can't save a marriage when someone has already left it.
ReplyDelete@L I agree. Success can go to people's heads and he is possibly operating under the belief that he is a much bigger star than he really is and will have bigger opportunities now as a result. Maybe he will to some extent, but is it worth sacrificing a life with three beautiful children? I feel like no one knows what really goes on behind closed doors between two people but cheating as a means to end a relationship is never the way to go, especially when there are children involved. At least Jennie has this reality show to give her something to put her time into as a distraction from the cr*p she's gotta be going through.
ReplyDeleteSorry but if he was "experimenting" with men....there's no way back for that marriage.
ReplyDeleteI feel so very sad for her girls and for her too. I bet he regrets it in a few years.
ReplyDeleteI thought he cheated with a guy?
ReplyDeleteAnother woman??? You mean...another man.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he experimented with a guy and fell out of love with Jenny with a girl...??? Dunno, don't really get the gay vibe from him. He seems pretty straight.
ReplyDeleteDidn't their relationship begin while she was still married to someone else?
ReplyDeleteAll I can say, as I've said before and will say again: it takes two to make it work and two to fuck it up. Yeah, he cheated, but no matter what the reason, she has to take responsibility for her part, whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll go the way of Christie Brinkley, and cry for Matt Lauer about how all she wants is this to be over--if that's what Brinkley wants, then why is she talking about it on tv? I just don't automatically take my gender's side, even about the cheating, b/c I've seen women drive men away. One friend was so tired of being controlled by his wife that he cheated and confessed as an excuse to get out. It's more complicated than that, but that's the gist. When two lives are so entangled, it's just not that easy to walk away, whatever gender.
Jennie filed at the same time.
ReplyDelete@Megley--it does take two to mess up a marriage, but if you are unhappy in your marriage, get out. If you have to cheat as a way to break up your marriage, you are a coward.
ReplyDeleteI hate all these excuses people make up about why they cheated. If you are at that point in a relationship, have enough respect to walk away without leaving a trail of devastation behind you. My father was a serial cheater (over the course of multiple marriages) and I cannot begin to tell you the damage he wrought, not just to his wives but his children.
He's on Nurse Jackie (and he's Cooper Dooper in the role) so it's not as if Twilight is the end of his career.
ReplyDelete@Grow, he is the best part of the show for me. He is so, so funny. His tic!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the blind items on Blind Gossip that were solved as Peter F? He cheated with a veeeery young co-star and another woman...two separate blinds. Then a few days later they recanted both because Peter's lawyers said that's not what happened...it was very interesting. Blind Gossip apologized on the site to him for getting it wrong...hmmm.
ReplyDeletehe great on nurse jackie
ReplyDelete"makes" dad look like a douche? he did that all on his own. she should be allowed to say she tried to save the marriage. all she has stated is that she did not want to end the marriage, but has accepted it. he probably listed 1/1 as the date of sep for tax reasons. filing states based on last day of the calendar year.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely @Emme.
ReplyDeleteIf you are so unhappy in a marriage that there is absolutely no fixing it: get out. Don't cheat.
I feel for her and those beautiful children. They always seemed like such a nice family.
He may have cheated, but I wonder how Jennie coped with no longer being the star. Jealousy on both fronts wouldn't surprise me.
ReplyDeletePeter Facinelli been doing decent work for a long time (e.g. Six Feet Under, Nurse Jackie), but I don't get the impression that Twilight inflated his head. Besides the bad press surrounding the divorce, have their been stories about him acting like an ass in public? Not really...
I would venture to guess there's more to this story than what Jennie is saying on any topic.
(Although, I guess that's kinda obvious.)
ReplyDeleteIn the Jennie piece, she said he asked for a divorce last fall and she was resistant. If he's filing now, she's probably still fighting it. The last few years, he's been based in Vancouver and New York, coming back to LA when he could. That would be hard on any marriage.
ReplyDeleteJennie didn't "file at the same time" - she filed a response to his petition.
ReplyDeleteI think that's the biggest insult, blaming them for your cheating, grow a set of balls and admit what you did was wrong. That's the way to go in any situation, I have NO Respect for any one that blames someone else for their actions. I have been on the receiving side of this and he's lucky I didn't cut him right there, you cheat on me but it was ok because you didn't think the relationship was that serious? You said it was exclusive? I was a bitch and deserved it for accusing you of cheating (when you were cheating) but before I found out? Please tell me how this makes it my fault. The only one that says cheating is both parties fault is the cheater!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid nobody watch him in Fastlane? I loved that show and was surprised when it was cancelled so quickly.
ReplyDeleteAs for a marraiage breaking up, you never know what goes on behind closed doors. Maybe he asked her to not do a little thing that annoyed him, or something in bed and she continuously refused, making him not feel valued and seeking "it" elsewhere. Just one example. You never know, it's between them.
Relationships require work. It takes two. But "cheating" is having sex or whatever with someone else. Simple. Sex or whatever with another person other than your signifcant other. No excuse can take that away from that fact. It boggles my mind the countless excuses. Lets all be real here!
ReplyDelete@katsm I liked fastlane, and the show did well ratings wise. It was just a very expensive show to produce and Fox didn't want to pay and canceled it.
ReplyDeleteStory on Peter's alleged other woman.

And another

Another factor at his age could be mid-life crisis, around 40 is a vulnerable time, especially for people who may have narcissistic tendencies (which would not be unheard if in an actor).
ReplyDeleteIt takes two to make a marriage work, but it only takes one to destroy it.
I liked Fastlane too.
ReplyDelete@Me, I didn't say Jennie made him a doiuche. I just don't think the responsible thing to do as a parent is to publicly talk badly or insinuate anything that your kids are going to have to read. What is this doing for their kids? Making them think Jennie tried and their Dad didn't. Maybe that is true, but it certainly won't help them. It helps Jennie and her fame.
I don't agree with the idea that it takes two to f*ck up a marriage. Sometimes people are just assholes. I've had too many of my friends get a divorce because their husbands decided that their marriages weren't as important to them as f*cking around was.
ReplyDeleteOne of them started sleeping with his secretary because my friend was having a difficult pregnancy and didn't have the energy to cater to his every whim anymore. Was she responsible for him cheating on her? Another friend's husband became bipolar and started sleeping with anything that moved when he was on his "upswing." Was that somehow her fault?
I'm not saying Jennie is completely blameless here. I don't know what the private circumstances of their marriage were. But I don't think it's correct to say that whenever a marriage breaks up, both of the people in it are to blame.
@Megley - I kind of agree with you, that sometimes men (& women) drive the other partner away by being too controlling, etc. I think they cheat for any and all these reasons: 1. found someone they're more compatible with and want to test the waters, 2. to get back at the other person, 3. as an excuse. You NEVER know what happens between two people in a marriage. Having said that, cheating is always wrong. Break up/separate/divorce but don't make it any harder than it needs to be, especially when there are children involved.
ReplyDeletePeter Facinelli is hilarious in Nurse Jackie!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cheating, sometimes people fall in love, regardless of their circumstances. I'm thinking it'll be a quiet and uneventful divorce, especially because JG was married when she got together with him. If your significant other was in love with someone else, would you still want to be with him/her?
Six Feet Under was one of my favorite shows and I didn't even remember him in it. I had to go look it up. Was he one of the hippies Claire lived with near the end of the series?
ReplyDeleteDidn't jennie lose her gig on 90210 because she refused to participate in an extra marital affair storyline? Sounds like art imitating real life!
ReplyDeletegod help me Texshan- but I agree with everything you just said haha (is that a first for us?) ;>
ReplyDeleteAlso @Megley and @Me- preach it sistas~
Call me old fashioned, but anyone who cheats IS a douche bag. You must have respected your partner when you WERE in love with them, so give them a final act of respect, and end the f-ing relationship BEFORE you start seeking out someone new. It's really not that hard to be a decent f-ing human being.
ReplyDeleteLOL Jasmine-me to! (re: Texshan)
PS: how did the rumors that Facinelli cheated with a GUY fly under my radar???!! Who did he supposedly cheat with?
ReplyDeleteLook, maybe I'm being unfair, but I've never known a guy with a hairdo like that who wasn't a bit of a douchebag.
ReplyDeleteHaha ROFL Ecua! :))
ReplyDeleteSee, Jasmine and Ecua? I'm not a totally unreasonable bitch! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I should have mentioned that my friend with the bipolar ex begged him to take his meds. He refused.
what a total douchenugget. i imagine his real life is like the role he played in the j-love teen movie where he thinks he's the prom king for life. now he's the 4th featured bit player in the sinking twilight series. he's sure to pull trendwhore booty dying to meet Edward/Jacob by saying: sure i know them - i can introduce you, just step into my pop-up camper first...
ReplyDeletehis wife was a sweet iconic dream barbie for a generation of guys, and the star of 90210. but he thinks he's actually living in it. does he stand at the mirror imitating dylan mckay? is his ringtone an mp3 loop of kelly taylor repeating: "u r like sooooo cool baby!"? does he masturbate to a calendar of 1997 ?(when he was famous).
any adult man past age 30 with hair like that + george michael faith-stubble + fratboy rapist smirky eyes? that's not brooding and sexy. that's just telegraphing your intent to end up on an offender registry someday.
uhh, so no thanks Douchey McHipsterson. Jennie will totally replace and be over him in three...two...one...
meanwhile the future for peter fascinating will consist of midnight cruising mall parking lots for guys willing to pay him to spank the monkey as they watch. (also known as the dirk diggler downward career arc). best of luck with that. go jennie!
