WHAT super-famous African-American movie star stunned his co-stars when he was overheard ranting and raving about white people? The angry actor snapped: “I only deal with white people because I have to work with them.”
Since there aren't that many super famous african-american movie stars to begin with, lets narrow it down: either Will Smith or Eddie Murphy. I'll go with Eddie Murphy.
I'd have to go with Denzel. While I love the man, and think he is all kinds of yumy, there is a certain air that would lend itself to the belief that he could utter these words.
This is a terrible blind...they should give a more specific hint than 'super famous movie star' - now everyone is prone to call out every black actor as being racist.
This is a terrible blind because it's nothing wrong with it! That's that mans preference and he is so entitled to it, especially given the history of race relations in this country.
Long time lurker but have never posted! I remember something posted on CDAN maybe two years ago where Denzel's co-star Bronson Pinchot in the movie Courage Under Fire described Denzel as being the biggest asshole on set. Anybody else remember that post?
I didn't think of that about Jennifer before I commented. Yes I remember he didn't want the kiss scene with Julia Roberts. I thought he was a relatively nice guy though.
Please, please, please not Samuel L Jackson. I adore him but if this were him, I could not watch him anymore...except in Pulp Fiction because that will remain my fav movie till the day I die :)
Before everyone jumps on "he is a racist bandwagon", people have to realize this. Hollywood and America are notoriously racist so this comment does not surprise me. I'm pretty sure a lot of ETHNIC actors and actresses feel this way in Hollywood. In fact I know they do particularly the Asian-American & Latino actors.
Is it right? No! However, dealing with racism day in day out be it overt or undercover still hurts. So please keep that into perspective. No amount of money or fame will erase that.
Denzel did a sex scene with Milla Jovovitch in He Got Game. I think this is Jamie Foxx. He told a story about growing up in Texas. When he was a kid he was hired to play piano at some wealthy white folks house. He brought a friend with him but the white ppl wouldn't let the friend come in bcuz they had a rule of "only one black person being allowed in their house at a time." Sooooo this is probably Jamie
Samuel L Jackson is pretty good friends with Owen Wilson, I think? I recall him being very snippy (rightfully so) when he was grilled by the press when visiting him in the hospital.
Yup pretty much Denzel. I don't blame him either some white people think racism is funny.
Denzel Washington spoke about how several Hollywood execs offered him a racially disparaging role during his first years as a professional actor. Washington also spoke about how Sidney Poitier provided insight on how not to become pigeonholed as a black American stereotype.
"I got a part in a movie in 1986,” Washington said. “I call it ‘The N***a They Couldn’t Kill.’ He raped a white woman, they tried to electrocute him, and they tried to hang him. There were some Jewish people in the audition, and they said it would be funny if they tried to hang [my character], but they couldn’t. I said, ‘Like you bring some Jewish people in a room. They think it’s a shower, but it’s gas.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s not funny, right?’ To me, it wasn’t funny to put a rope around my neck either. So, I called Sidney Poitier and told him that they offered me $600,000 to play in this movie. He said, ‘I’m not going to tell you what to do. But the first three or four films in this business will dictate how you are perceived.’ So, I turned that role down. Six months later, I got a call to do Cry Freedom and got an Oscar nomination. My career could’ve gone an entirely different way.”
Top Stylist, that story is bullshit. Jamie Foxx LOVES to spin tales about how awful Texas is, but he is a liar. He's been quoted as saying that people in his hometown (which is near Dallas) "don't know that airplanes fly over the ocean." He thinks it helps his rep to act as if he had to overcome adversity, but he didn't. He was raised in a middle-class Baptist home by his grandparents, was a Boy Scout, performed in his church choir, and was a successful high school quarterback -- which in Texas guarantees you popularity. He got a scholarship to college, too. So don't believe everything he says. In fact, don't believe anything he says. He's full of shit.
All the more reason that this could be him. Why make up a story disparaging an entire race if you like them? The sad thing is out of the entire Hollywood we only have like five black actors to choose from. We can't really blame Hollywood tho. They give us what we want to see.
I heard somewhere that Mr. Poitier supposedly loathes white people.
Re that Jamie Foxx anecdote, I wouldn't want any employee or hired worker, regardless of their color, bringing a friend to work at my house. What was he thinking?
He was a kid. And they didn't say he couldn't come in because it was unprofessional. It was because his friend would put their black people allowance over capacity. How do you defend this?!! If the story is true.
I know that Denzel likes white people he just got done last week meeting with the injured troops at Brook Army Medical Center. He spent the whole day there with the troops NO MEDIA. He had his family with and then he toured the Fisher Homes where the Families stay and he whipped out his checkbook asked how much one cost, wrote a check for the full amount. I have sources in the military. 4 Service members on active duty at this time.
I've never heard that Poitier hates white people, but really can you blame him? First black star BEFORE the civil rights movement. He also transcended the color barrier by playing just men, not black or white. I'm sure he went through lots of shit, major stories always not about him per se but about his color.
I still think this is Denzel, who also opened the way to blacks becoming Hollywood stars.
And take a look around the present day, so many whites still hate blacks. It's pathetic.
Forgot to add he posed with the injured so family could take pictures and he hugged and kissed a lot of Moms, girlfriends, wifes, and children. As did his wife and family. There are White, Latino, Black, and Mixed troops injured at Brook Army Medical Center. If you don't like white people you don't hug and kiss a lot of them.
old ;ady, you got me, I suppose you might hug and kiss a bunch of white people that you hate and maybe even whip out the checkbook if for a reason, but if it was on the quiet and his family were doin' the huggin and kissin too, well that just doesn't happen in a racist family. He seems like a strong man and would have a strong influence on them. You can't just switch that kind of thing off. I hope your telling the truth coz I've always admired him.
Samuel Jackson asked Ricky Gervais to be on Extras and they had a little clip on the behind the scenes. He was friendly and professional. Ricky said he Samuel only needed one take. He didn't come off as racist, I don't find many racists who go out of there way to work with the race they hate.
What I meant was, I am sure there are plenty of racists in Hwood who work with everyone because they want to work. I just don't think you admire them and seek them out.
Denzel, Jaime Foxx or Eddie Murphy. Or, should I say, Denzel, Jaime Foxx AND Eddie Murphy. Doesn't matter - coulda come out of any of their mouths to no surprise.
I don't who this is but I would never say that a black person working in Hwood who doesn't like dealing with white people outside of works is an asshole. And people calling him an asshole for saying this is one of the chief reasons. Racism against black people is still a reality and it can greatly affect a person's mental health. Not wanting to be around the biggest perpetrators of racism does not make you an asshole. Although saying so out loud might cost you.
I dont believe this is Denzel. Just bc hes arrogant and the biggest black movie star people can think of doesnt make him a racist. Now I could see Samuel L Jackson sayin somethin like this. and just bc men have "dated" white women doesnt automatically give them a pass. I think itd def be someone who worked in Hollywood before it became as acceptable to be a black movie star.
When Sidney Poitier "made it" he was married to a black woman and was famous for saying he could never be with a white woman...and then of course he fell in love with one and is still married to her. So things happen it's just life. My mom says that when my gran saw Guess Who's Coming To Dinner in the 60's her reaction was "What woman could resist Sidney Poitier ?" I say how true...a class act all the way.
Jasmine, he may not be an asshole (doubtful), but he is a bigot. Hating an entire race -- black, white, brown, whatever -- is bigotry, no matter who is doing it. This guy saying "I only deal with white people because I have to work with them" is racist.
Sidney Poitier must not hate white people too much, his beloved wife of many years is white. I had the pleasure of meeting him one day when I was walking my dogs. His wife and daughters were loving them first and as I was about twalking away - he appeared and told me how much he loved dogs and asked if his "beautiful wife and daughters had seen them." He was the most engaging man. I was on cloud nine the rest of the day!!! Charles Barkley made a comment years ago about not liking white people, but his wife is white and quite a few of his friends are. I can see anyone making a comment that they regret, or is taken out of context due to their choice of words.
I can see any actor making a blanket statement about a race when that is not really what they meant to say - such as white people really get on my nerves and they meant to say was - ignorant white trash who ask stupid questions...
Yes, I understand that some people are racist, but I think whoever said this - if it is real - was taken out of context. National Enquirer blind items are just wayy too obvious or stupid usually...
Msgirl, I agree w/you. And the weird thing is, I met him in ATL - so all of that was buzzing in my head...Of any Oscar winner to meet and any place?!? I will never get that day out of my head...
Um, in all honesty, this could be any number of African American actors, male and female. Still not the majority of the actors but not as shocking as you might think. The same can, of course, be said for white actors and their feelings about several or all minorities. Racism exists everywhere in the world and even in so-called liberal Hollywood.
The Denzel story about the troops is partly true. He did write a check but not big enough to build a Fisher House. The whole story is on Snopes and has been circulating for years.
Samuel L. Jackson, before he was a movie star, was involved with the Black Power movement. He signed up after MLK's assassination, and was friends with Stokely Carmichael. I would not be surprised in the least if it was him.
Honestly I'm not surprised it's not ALL of them. Do we really think because they command a lot of money that they don't get hit with snide comments that can come across as or be just blatantly racist? Not to create a tempest in a teapot here but seriously while we all hope and pray racism will end, have not (all) directly experienced it for ourselves and think of ourselves as pretty open to advancement of everyone regardless of race, it just ain't so. I am not condoning it as correct just putting in my two cents here.
Sorry, but it happened just in the last 2 weeks and the check was for the full amount. When you have 4 Service Men & Women on Active Duty and Have lost one KIA in Iraq, You have 1000's of friends in the Military who email you their cell phone pictures while the things are happening. So all you Haters out there can believe what ever you want about Denzel and I will believe what my relatives and other friends in the Military have to say with their Cell Phone Pictures.
I lived in an all black foster group home that was also staffed by all black women and run by a black family- for 5 years. It gave me (white as can be) a unique perspective I think. I heard "I hate white people" quite frequently and it was only occassionaly directed at or including me. I became very close with several girls over the years who would explain that they considered me the only nice or only pretty white girl they ever knew. I wasn't offended from that point on as I came to understand that the blanket statement is mostly an exaggeration based in the us vs them mentality and defensiveness that black culture has been backed into. These statements are made by people who can and do have sincere relationships with white people, admire people who happen to be white and yes, even date & marry white people. It's not as simple as the statement often made in frustration- it's a complicated expression that cannot just be explained away as racism. Doesn't make it right, or even true- its the understanding you might be missing while you're getting all offended.
This blind and the disparaging comments about these actors us ridiculous! So what he said that, we're in America jack! Given the history of race relations in this country (with whomever the subject if this blind is being a member of the ippressed race) coupled with the fact that that very statement was/has been uttered aloud through words and actions by whites in this business, what's the big deal? Not noteworthy!
Laurence Fishbourne? He came here to Australia a few years ago and said this country was racist against him because many people were looking at him. They were probably looking at him because he is a film star.
can't be Sam, why would he work with Tarantino so much and freely use the n word.
I think this vice sucks. It could be anybody. Hell, at this point I'd even say Terrence Howard. We need to look at the bigger picture-like rappers turned actors who may say this crap. I'm just saying.
Old ;ady: "I know that Denzel likes white people he just got done last week meeting with the injured troops at Brook Army Medical Center. He spent the whole day there with the troops NO MEDIA. He had his family with and then he toured the Fisher Homes where the Families stay and he whipped out his checkbook asked how much one cost, wrote a check for the full amount. I have sources in the military. 4 Service members on active duty at this time."
Check your facts. This actually happened in 2005 not last week and he did not whip out a checkbook. He donated money after the fact and it wasn't as much as we were all led to believe.
Well, Texshan your comment is really only proof that what I posted earlier is correct. It might be racist in the strictest since of the term, but it does not make him an asshole to acknowledge the BS he may have to go through as a black person.
The attempt to equate all forms of prejudice is exactly why it can be tiresome. I understand you do so only out of ignorance and a need to believe that we're all the same in this mess, but it's not true. It affects different groups in different ways, and I have no problem acknowledging that for some groups it is more painful than for others. You can say it's all the same once you can prove historically that all people in this country had/have the same relationship to institutional racism.
This could be any African-American actor/actress (if the blind is even legit).
Samuel L. Jackson is a good friends with Quentin Tarantino and even defended him when the black community went after Tarantino for his use of the "n" word.
Sidney Poitier and James Earl Jones are both married to white women and have biracial children. hard to believe it's either of them.
If it's Oprah she's a better actress than I thought because she seems to get along with a lot of people - black or white.
Morgan Freeman is a NASCAR fan and goes to a lot of the races. Not exactly a popular sport with African-Americans and not a sport someone who is anti-white would watch/attend.
Don't think it's Jamie Foxx - there is another blind out there rumored to him about an African-American actor who sleeps with white women only. It just doesn't feel like him.
If this blind is legit, the two most obvious "suspects" are Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy.
Just to play Devil's Advocate, if this were a white actor/actress saying they "hated" black people, everyone would be outraged and demanding they be outed.
I don't think a black actor/actress should be excused for saying the opposite. Racism is racism no matter whom is being racist.
Laurence Fishbourne? He came here to Australia a few years ago and said this country was racist against him because many people were looking at him. They were probably looking at him because he is a film star.
Retrogodess, this post made me LOL. I'm an aussie too and if Laurence Fishbourne came over here and caught me looking at him... well Yup!.. I'm havin' some bad thoughts and not one of them is racist LOL. Such a good looking man with such a sexy voice. I always liked Morgan for the same reason too.
I wouldn't be suprised if either said it and I certainly don't think less of them for it.
I don't why I'd be so dissapointed if it were Denzel except to say, I thought of him as so much more smarter than to generalize like that, but anyone's self respect can demand a snap back and we don't always mean what we say, not on level it is percieved as anyway.
Slightly off track here, but re: Denzel Washington & The Fisher House thing. It happened a few years ago, not just last week. He donated a good chunk of money, but not enough to build a house. I live in San Antonio & have a lot of military family members, so I would've heard something about this if he was in town last week. OKAY, now back to the speculating! :)
Jasmine, save your sanctimonious bullshit for someone who cares. Racism is racism. It doesn't matter who is committing it, it's always wrong. I'm not going to give a black person a "pass" on being a racist any more than I would a white person.
And, since Enty wrote that this guy is a "super-famous movie star," I'm also not going to lose any sleep tonight crying over the many hardships and trials this douche has bravely endured at the hands of the evil honky. Something tells me that this guy is doing just fine, in spite of The Man(TM), always trying to keep him down.
Hey Texshan, meow! I cant help but wonder what is the color of your skin. Has anyone ever personally hated on you, even someone you've never met before because of your skin or your religion? How about your sex, or how you have sex or who you have it with. (Perhaps you are perfect in everyway).
Did you ever win 'em over by shrilling about what's right or wrong. What do you really know about any ism and how are you qualified to define it?
Hollywood is racist so whoever said it is just giving back what they get. The industry only let's a few African American actors into the industry at a time with quality roles, everything else is to play maids, drug dealers, crack heads, or something else beneath him. Tyler Perry has created a opportunities as of late for AA actors, but outside of that you usually have one black side quick in movies. Will Smith and Denzel thank God don't have to do that, and Eddy had to resort to kiddy movies to stay relevant. Jamie Fox could be him..., but I can see ANY AA actor thinking it, but not saying it out loud. doesn't mean that its right but is it what it is.....
I agree with Jasmine. My sister says she hates white people all the time. Does she actually hate white people? No. Our mom is white...as is her boyfriend. But, as a 1/2 Latina with brown skin, she has been the victim of A LOT of racism (technically ethnicism), almost all of which has been from white people. I can see how someone who has been the victim of racism would say something of the sort out of frustration. I could also see how one could develop a distrust, even a dislike, of an entire group of people. I wouldn't necissarily call it racist to avoid the people that have hurt you the most. It is a response to a repeated stimulus.
I'm not qualified to define any ism any more than Jasmine is, and I am far from perfect, to answer your questions.
Yes, I have dealt with prejudice before. It's not fun. But that doesn't give me the right to say that I hate everyone in a certain group because of it. People should be judged individually on their own merits.
I can't believe I am actually getting crap from you people because I dared to say that racism is always wrong!
Not Morgan. He lives outside the small small town in Mississippi my uncle lives in and all the people say nothing but good about him. My uncle has met/seen him multiple times, and also has met Clint Eastwood and Brad Pitt through him. I think Morgan likes to take people to the country club my uncle goes to, but don't qoute me on that. I'd have to ask him.
"While filming the 1995 film Virtuosity, Washington refused to kiss his white female co-star, Kelly Lynch, during a romantic scene between their characters. During an interview, Lynch stated that while she wanted to, "Denzel felt very strongly about it. I felt there is no problem with interracial romance. But Denzel felt strongly that the white males, who were the target audience of this movie, would not want to see him kiss a white woman." Lynch further stated, "That's a shame. I feel badly about it. I keep thinking that the world's changed, but it hasn't changed quick enough."[8] A similar situation also occurred during the filming of The Pelican Brief when Julia Roberts expressed in an interview her desire to have her character in the film engaged in a romantic relationship with Washington's character."
"But that doesn't give me the right to say that I hate everyone in a certain group because of it. People should be judged individually on their own merits".
We do agree on that, and I don't actually want to give you crap, It's just given the circumstances, I'm not so sure it's so black & white .... no pun intended... don't you find the movie biz is racist?
last year National Enquirer had the same blind item with a white actor
ReplyDeleteDenzel?
ReplyDeleteOr Will Smith??
DeleteDenzel was the first to come to mind. He's the biggest name black actor, super-star.
ReplyDeleteSince there aren't that many super famous african-american movie stars to begin with, lets narrow it down: either Will Smith or Eddie Murphy. I'll go with Eddie Murphy.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Jamie Foxx - ? Or am I thinking of the "reverse" blind?
ReplyDeleteJamie Foxx springs to mind
ReplyDeleteJamie Foxx?
ReplyDeleteDenzel is supposed to be a huge asshole, so I'll go with him for this one.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with Denzel. While I love the man, and think he is all kinds of yumy, there is a certain air that would lend itself to the belief that he could utter these words.
ReplyDeleteDenzel
ReplyDeleteDoesn't he refuse to do love scenes with white women?
Denzel is friend with Julia Roberts,no?
ReplyDeletei say Eddie Murphy because Murphy directed movies with only black peoples
Samuel Jackson?
ReplyDeleteThis is Denzel because Jamie, Samuel and Eddie both have "dated" white women
ReplyDeleteEddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx are definitely the two that come to mind.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible blind...they should give a more specific hint than 'super famous movie star' - now everyone is prone to call out every black actor as being racist.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible blind because it's nothing wrong with it! That's that mans preference and he is so entitled to it, especially given the history of race relations in this country.
Delete@ Beth. Didn't Denzel do a love scene with Jennifer Beals in that movie Devil in a Blue Dress?
ReplyDeleteLong time lurker but have never posted! I remember something posted on CDAN maybe two years ago where Denzel's co-star Bronson Pinchot in the movie Courage Under Fire described Denzel as being the biggest asshole on set. Anybody else remember that post?
ReplyDeleteMorgan Freeman
ReplyDeleteShe is biracial though.
ReplyDeleteEddie Murphy came to mind before I even clicked on the comments.
ReplyDeleteHe refused to kiss Julia Roberts in that John Grisham movie.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Beals is indeed biracial.
@Jonel: Morgan Freeman uses Christian Bale as pillow (it was my Twitter avatar before, now i have Dujardin using Clooney as pillow)
ReplyDelete@***D** I don't know about that post but I hear Bronson Pinchot is a big asshole. Also is a huge jerk towards some of his female co-stars.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of that about Jennifer before I commented. Yes I remember he didn't want the kiss scene with Julia Roberts. I thought he was a relatively nice guy though.
ReplyDelete@Kari That sucks to hear, always liked him as Balky in Perfect Strangers, and of course the memorable Serge in Beverly Hill Cop, lol
ReplyDeleteHills*
ReplyDeletePlease, please, please not Samuel L Jackson. I adore him but if this were him, I could not watch him anymore...except in Pulp Fiction because that will remain my fav movie till the day I die :)
ReplyDelete@**D** So did I. He was very good in those roles.
ReplyDeleteI would be so upset if the is Morgan Freeman. Love that man.
ReplyDeletethis*
ReplyDeleteSad but not surprising, they say Oprah's not a fan either she just hides it.
ReplyDeleteSamuel L. Jackson! Good for himmmmmm, just kidding!
ReplyDeleteAgreed...if it's Morgan Freeman, I will be disappointed too. Unless it's Denzel Washington.
ReplyDeleteha ha, I read @Frenchgirl's post too quickly, thought it said "with only black penises".
ReplyDeleteSounds like Samuel or Eddie
ReplyDeleteOprah is not a racist.

Sounds like Denzel to me. Jennifer Beales is half-black.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Eddie Murphy because he has a lot of white friends, Joe Pesicpo (sp), and Steve Martin.
ReplyDeleteWesley Snipes!
ReplyDeleteWesley Snipes was famous in 1995. He is not famous in 2012.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like Samuel L. Jackson or Denzel.

This is the video where he says what I just copied. It puts it in another perspective.

Now I could see Samuel L Jackson sayin somethin like this. and just bc men have "dated" white women doesnt automatically give them a pass. I think itd def be someone who worked in Hollywood before it became as acceptable to be a black movie star.
ReplyDeleteSidney Poitier's wife is white. Doesn't mean he still can't be racist...but I kind of doubt he is.
ReplyDeleteI seldom comment on this type of post, but what Jasmine said.
ReplyDeleteWhen Sidney Poitier "made it" he was married to a black woman and was famous for saying he could never be with a white woman...and then of course he fell in love with one and is still married to her. So things happen it's just life.
ReplyDeleteMy mom says that when my gran saw Guess Who's Coming To Dinner in the 60's her reaction was "What woman could resist Sidney Poitier ?" I say how true...a class act all the way.
Jasmine, he may not be an asshole (doubtful), but he is a bigot. Hating an entire race -- black, white, brown, whatever -- is bigotry, no matter who is doing it. This guy saying "I only deal with white people because I have to work with them" is racist.
ReplyDeleteSidney Poitier must not hate white people too much, his beloved wife of many years is white.
ReplyDeleteCharles Barkley made a comment years ago about not liking white people, but his wife is white and quite a few of his friends are.
National Enquirer blind items are just wayy too obvious or stupid usually...
co-sign Jasmine and Snowstorms
ReplyDeleteOh I never meant that Poitier was the subject of this blind, just that he's someone who would have cause to be disgusted. I agree - what a lovely man!
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks to everyone that this might/probably is out of context...it is NE after all.
Msgirl, I agree w/you. And the weird thing is, I met him in ATL - so all of that was buzzing in my head...Of any Oscar winner to meet and any place?!? I will never get that day out of my head...
DeleteHow about Wesley Snipes? I know he's currently in prison, but I haven't seen his name mentioned.
ReplyDeleteUm, in all honesty, this could be any number of African American actors, male and female. Still not the majority of the actors but not as shocking as you might think. The same can, of course, be said for white actors and their feelings about several or all minorities. Racism exists everywhere in the world and even in so-called liberal Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteThe Denzel story about the troops is partly true. He did write a check but not big enough to build a Fisher House. The whole story is on Snopes and has been circulating for years.

ReplyDeleteFirst person I thought of is Samuel L. Jackson.
ReplyDeleteWhat does Himmmmmm think ??? He knows who it is, I bet !!!! Hmmmmm,, where are you?
Morgan Freeman was the second person that came to mind.
ReplyDeleteSamuel L. Jackson, before he was a movie star, was involved with the Black Power movement. He signed up after MLK's assassination, and was friends with Stokely Carmichael. I would not be surprised in the least if it was him.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'm not surprised it's not ALL of them.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Denzel.
ReplyDeleteMorgan....
ReplyDeleteI lived in an all black foster group home that was also staffed by all black women and run by a black family- for 5 years.
ReplyDeleteThis blind and the disparaging comments about these actors us ridiculous! So what he said that, we're in America jack! Given the history of race relations in this country (with whomever the subject if this blind is being a member of the ippressed race) coupled with the fact that that very statement was/has been uttered aloud through words and actions by whites in this business, what's the big deal? Not noteworthy!
ReplyDeleteLaurence Fishbourne?
ReplyDeleteHe came here to Australia a few years ago and said this country was racist against him because many people were looking at him.
They were probably looking at him because he is a film star.
can't be Sam, why would he work with Tarantino so much and freely use the n word.
ReplyDeleteI think this vice sucks.
ReplyDeleteCheck your facts. This actually happened in 2005 not last week and he did not whip out a checkbook. He donated money after the fact and it wasn't as much as we were all led to believe.
James Earl Jones quotes for $100, Alex.
ReplyDeleteJaime Foxx. I know someone who did a location shoot with him a few years ago. Only the black crew members were invited to his nightly parties.
ReplyDeleteWell, Texshan your comment is really only proof that what I posted earlier is correct. It might be racist in the strictest since of the term, but it does not make him an asshole to acknowledge the BS he may have to go through as a black person.
ReplyDeleteThe attempt to equate all forms of prejudice is exactly why it can be tiresome.
ReplyDeleteSamuel L.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a black actor/actress should be excused for saying the opposite. Racism is racism no matter whom is being racist.
TheDailyLmo, as much as I hate to, I have to admit James did pop into my head.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he super-famous african american?
I'm sad now..
everyone knows that ignorant white people will fuck your shit up....

ReplyDeleteDenzel ftw!
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's Chris Rock.
ReplyDeleteJasmine, save your sanctimonious bullshit for someone who cares. Racism is racism. It doesn't matter who is committing it, it's always wrong. I'm not going to give a black person a "pass" on being a racist any more than I would a white person.
ReplyDeleteAnd, since Enty wrote that this guy is a "super-famous movie star," I'm also not going to lose any sleep tonight crying over the many hardships and trials this douche has bravely endured at the hands of the evil honky.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever win 'em over by shrilling about what's right or wrong. What do you really know about any ism and how are you qualified to define it?
slow clap @oopsitsme!
ReplyDeleteHollywood is racist so whoever said it is just giving back what they get. The industry only let's a few African American actors into the industry at a time with quality roles, everything else is to play maids, drug dealers, crack heads, or something else beneath him. Tyler Perry has created a opportunities as of late for AA actors, but outside of that you usually have one black side quick in movies.
ReplyDeleteWill Smith and Denzel thank God don't have to do that, and Eddy had to resort to kiddy movies to stay relevant. Jamie Fox could be him..., but I can see ANY AA actor thinking it, but not saying it out loud. doesn't mean that its right but is it what it is.....
Biggest wellknown black actor is Denzel Washington,so I'm guessing its him. I dont really care what he likes or not. Suck it up buddy!!!
ReplyDeletechris rock
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jasmine.
ReplyDelete*necessarily
ReplyDeleteI'm not qualified to define any ism any more than Jasmine is, and I am far from perfect, to answer your questions.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have dealt with prejudice before.
ReplyDeleteTotally Denzel.
ReplyDelete"While filming the 1995 film Virtuosity, Washington refused to kiss his white female co-star, Kelly Lynch, during a romantic scene between their characters. I keep thinking that the world's changed, but it hasn't changed quick enough."[8] A similar situation also occurred during the filming of The Pelican Brief when Julia Roberts expressed in an interview her desire to have her character in the film engaged in a romantic relationship with Washington's character."
might I add: Angelina Jolie and Denzel
ReplyDeleteIDK, Barack Obozo?

ReplyDelete"But that doesn't give me the right to say that I hate everyone in a certain group because of it. People should be judged individually on their own merits".
We do agree on that, and I don't actually want to give you crap, It's just given the circumstances, I'm not so sure it's so black & white .... no pun intended... don't you find the movie biz is racist?
