National Enquirer Blind Item
WHICH Academy Award-nominated actor’s drinking has gotten so out of control that his A-list co-star had to sit him down and tell him to cool it? The boozer didn’t take home an Oscar, but he sure did raise eyebrows while drowning his sorrows at the “Vanity Fair” after-party!
George Clooney? And yes I am horrible at these, but doesn't stop me from guessing.
ReplyDeleteJonah Hill or Kenneth Branagh
ReplyDeleteI'm very concerned that this might be the love of my life, Gary Oldman, since he is supposed to be a recovered alcoholic :(
ReplyDelete@Keks, no, no, don't be Gary!
ReplyDeleteJonah Hill and Brad.
ReplyDeleteOoh... remember when George was singing on Man of Constant Sorrow and he was doing that thing with his eyebrows? And sorrow. . . from the song?
ReplyDeleteI remember reading the Brange and Clooney skipped the parties and went to a private dinner.
ReplyDeleteBing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
ReplyDeleteThink Big Mama nailed it. I'll second her guess.
I'm in the Gary Oldman camp.
ReplyDelete...and Jonah Hill would be more in line with the Haagen-Dazs buffet bingers.
ReplyDeleteNick Nolte ?
ReplyDeleteNope.. gotta be Nick Nolte. I don't even think he knew where he was at the Oscars. Can't even imagine what he must have been like at the after-party.. So sad. He's like a completely different person now.
ReplyDeleteBut Brad didn't go to the Vanity Fair after-party...
ReplyDeleteNick Nolte would be the easiest guess, but neither Edgerton nor Hardy were even in L.A. that night (I think).
I'm reluctantly guessing Gary Oldman and Colin Firth.
I think it might be Jonah Hill. In the films Oldman and Nolte were in/nominated, none of the supporting cast were really A-list. I had to look up _Warrior_ to remember who the co-stars were. I don't think Hardy or Edgerton c/b considered at that tier yet...?
ReplyDeleteAnd Jonah, if it is you, then: dude, you were up against C.Plummer, the Nolt, Kenneth bran muffin, and the dude who beat Death at chess. Be thankful you were invited to round out this category among such great actors and chalk it up as the first step toward building better cred.
I think it's Nick Nolte. Isn't he known for being a hard core drinker?
ReplyDeleteWhen was Jonah Hill an Oscar nominee? Brad Yes but then Jonah would not be A-list.
ReplyDeleteOldman and Firth: What movide did they do together that would make one of them a co-star with the other? Does anyone know?
@sherry I'm assuming you didn't watch the Oscars this year cause Jonah Hill was nominated for best supporting actor.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Jonah Hill camp. The Blind doesn't specify that the A-list co-star sat down with the drinker AT the Vanity Fair after party. Simply that the drinker's problem was fairly visible at the party.
Brad seems like a good guy and I think if he heard that Jonah had taken things too far at the after party he would have sat down with him and talked with him about the problem. Also, Jonah totally comes across as someone with a drinking problem. He had lost a lot of weight but at the Oscars I thought he looked a bit heavier.Relapse perhaps?
The only other guess that works is Oldman and Firth but I highly doubt it's Oldman. All of the other non-winners this year didn't have co-stars I would consider A-list but then again it could be from a new movie they are doing.
@ Sherry. It was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Firth had a supporting role in that. Huh, I'd forgotten he was in that, so now I'm wondering whether it is Oldman.
ReplyDeleteI read an interview (maybe on here?) where Jonah Hill said he and Brad had gotten pretty close. They even let him stay at their house during filming, I think.
ReplyDeleteI don't see this being Oldman unless his wife has suddenly disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThis could be Nick Nolte and his A-list co-star Dustin Hoffman (Luck). I could see Hoffman being the type to be both concerned for his co-star's sobriety (I've heard he's a personable, gracious guy) and saying cool it (Luck is his show). It also doesn't say in the blind that this conversation happened at an Oscar after-party. And Nolte was definitely on something at the Oscars.
ReplyDeleteJoNah.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so funny that Jonah Hill thought he was going to win an Oscar. Sit the fuck down, Jonah Hill!
ReplyDelete@Uberbaldy. You're right. I did not see the Oscars this year. But both Jonah and Brad or Colin and Gary fit. Brad did let Jonah stay at his house while he was filming. He joked about how everyone in the neighborhood thought Brad was coming home and were so disappointed it was only Jonah. Still begs the question is Jonah A list? Enty's ratings are hard to decipher as we all know.
ReplyDeleteIt's totally Nick Nolte!! Didn't you see how he was clapping his hands when the camera panned to him? I thought he had had a stroke or something.
ReplyDelete@Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors, omg, too funny, I laughed out loud. Glad I am alone.

ReplyDelete@Sherry The co-star is the A-lister, not the academy award nominated actor with the drinking problem.
ReplyDeleteIt is Nolte and the A list Co-star is Dustin Hoffman. Saw a photo of Nolte leaving the Vanity Fair Oscar party and he looked waaasted. They are in HBO series Luck. They don't film together but saw a photo of them in USA Today looking chummy from a screening in January. Also saw a tweet about kicking Nolte out of the party but then it said 1993 like the person was covering his a@@.
ReplyDeleteGary Oldman was instrumental in getting Daniel Radcliffe to see that Dan's drinking was not helping his life. So it would be sad if this were Gary. I'm going to bet it's not.
ReplyDeleteJonah Hill. He was on Howard Stern this week saying how beer is his biggest vice
