Mark Steines Leaving Entertainment Tonight
First Mary Hart decided to leave Entertainment Tonight and now Mark Steines says he is leaving the show after being on for 17 years. People just don't leave cushy jobs like this one. It is easy work with great money and you have no responsibilities other than reading what is typed onto the teleprompter for you. I think Mark replaced John Tesh. Talk about an idiot. John left this cushy job because he thought that people would rush out and buy his records and sell out his concert tours all because he wrote one song for the Tour De France. You go from being on television very night to everyone saying, "who?" Is John still married to Connie Sellecca? I'm too lazy to look it up. She starred on Greatest American Hero and then married Tesh and has never been seen again. Maybe locked up in the basement?
Good looking man, wonder why he's leaving...
ReplyDeleteAs for Tesh, yuck, he never did it for me at all. I remember years ago seeing an interview with Connie Selleca on the Mike Douglas or Merv Griffin show (or something like that) with her hubby prior to Tesh where she told a story (or he did) where Connie would pour ketchup on her body to make herself look dead and lay on the bed or something just to freak out her husband. Too lazy to look up who she was married to before Tesh.
John Tesh hosts late night on a local easy listening radio station here in Connecticut. I switch from top 40 to him when I'm washing up for bed to get me in the sleepy mode.
ReplyDeleteShe was married to Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers) before Tesh.
ReplyDeleteJohn Tesh was delusional to think he would be a music god. I think that he fancied himself a better looking Michael Bolton. As stated in the great film Office Space, both Michael Bolton and John Tesh are assclowns.
My friends totally make fun of me because I like John Tesh's radio show. He has so many useful tips and info. Yes, I'm a nerd.
ReplyDeleteaccording to imdb.com Connie & John are still married (since 1992)
ReplyDeleteMark is a great looking guy but Hollywood is still ageist. He is 47 maybe he didn't want to leave but is being pushed out for younger talent. Saying he quit is just for saving face.
ALLL I NEEEEDDDDD .... oh wait .. that's Jack Wagner. Poor John Tesh .. i think only us "oldies" know who he is. or even who Connie Selleca is. i used to really want her long, silky black hair.
ReplyDeletei don't even know (or care) who Mark really is. never watched ET.
"Looks gooood."
ReplyDeleteYou Conan fans will get this. ;)
Someone was in there between Tesh and this guy...gah I'm gonna look it up, because I am procrastinating on my homework :-) Ok, Bob Goen took over after Tesh left I believe, he left in 2004 and Stein took over then. Perhaps ageism or some change in management/producer is making people unhappy enough to leave?
ReplyDeleteAfter kissing the asses of thousands of celebs im sure he is tired of tasting shit in his mouth.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I saw Mark Steines on one of those late night infomercials for bo-flex or some other work out system.
ReplyDeleteDamn he looked good
I listen to Tesh's radio show when I'm driving through the Central Valley of California (its on daytime radio there). I don't think anyone in LA carries it. It's not too bad. Considering his thinning hair, I'm sure he's made for radio now. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for his music, I saw him playing with Yanni back in the late 80's, early 90's. They were awesome together. He does well in the New Age genre, but its not as popular as it used to be.
Odd that Mark Stein is leaving ET. Very curious to see where he will end up, or if he's got enough money that he doesn't need to ever work again if he doesn't want to.
Damn JBE beat me to the "...oh it looks good!!!" ref.
ReplyDelete*snaps fingers of the aw-shucks variety*.
John Tesh did New Age for a while and he is currently doing Christian praise worship music. My husband told me about the radio show and he isn't the new agey guy type. Tesh does all right for himself actually.
ReplyDelete@Nola you totally made me guffaw. I never watch this show but he's pretty cute.
ReplyDeleteWait. I meant Netta. YOU made me laugh.
DeleteThe real qusetion is, "What ever happened to Steve Kmetko?" He was cute, bright, funny, and made watching E! enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI like John Tesh's radio show, too! I wish my station played it BEFORE that treakly Delilah show. She makes me barf.
ReplyDelete@warmislandsun: I was just talking to somebody the other day and we were asking the exact same question: "Whatever happened to Steve Kmetko?" Inquiring minds want to know.
ReplyDeleteI thought Tesh wrote the NBA theme (not sure it's still in use). I believe it was a steady paycheck for him.
ReplyDeleteHis radio show is on a local station where I live too. I like him when I hear the show. Great voice for radio (or TV).
The anchors on ET are the biggest suck-ups in the entire world. No matter what stupid-ass thing a celebrity does they will find a way to spin it as being brilliant and wonderful. I do not know how anybody could stomach working there for a few months, let alone 17 years. Dayum.
ReplyDeleteYes, Bob Goen came in between Tesh and Stienes. He was tall, had very dark hair, used to host the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune years ago. Mark was a correspondent/fill-in host for a while, then moved into the role full time. Wonder what's up. He's a great looking guy. I think he's still married to former Miss America Leanza Cornett.
ReplyDeleteTesh indeed wrote the NBA theme music. They stopped using it after the NBA moved from NBC to ESPN/ABC.
Here's what Wiki says about Kmetko (whom I really liked, too): "Kmetko now trains celebrities on the art of being interviewed. He works for Media Training company, J2 Strategic Communications, alongside Bob Goen, Jon Kelley and Terry Murphy. He also has served as producer and reporter of several video segments on California's gay-marriage ruling for theadvocate.com, the website of the gay news magazine The Advocate." (Are Kmetko and Greg Louganis still a couple? I thought they were adorable together.)
ReplyDeleteWonder whether Steines will wind up working with Kmetko and Goen?
I hate how on entertainment tonite, right before the commercial, a crew member hands "copy" to Nancy O'Dell. It looks asinine. I mean, does Nancy think she is the Queen or something?? it just looks so staged and fake
ReplyDeleteHow many people still watch these type of shows anymore? Now that you can get your gossip and news on the internet nobody wants to have to wait until 6:30 or 7PM for their watered down versions. Same with magazines. I don't watch or read either.
ReplyDeleteMark Steines is a good looking guy and as far as I remember he is likable but in Hollywood he is old. He probably has a couple years left on the show but I just assumed if he doesn't leave on his own terms TPTB will kick him off soon for younger "news anchors".
I don't like Mark Steines he is too much of a kiss ass. He and Opa should report together since both are great kiss asses LOL.
ReplyDeleteI was on a John Tesh cruise about six years ago (won it, don't ask) and he was still with Connie Sellaca. We picked her up halfway through the cruise. One day she, John and her mother were eating a mere table away from us. I was more starstruck with her than him. It was also strange to hear her talking to her mother like a daughter and not like a star (an admittedly long ago star, but still).
ReplyDeleteI like John Tesh's radio show, sadly I live in a smaller market that just doesnt' know what to program.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder how much longer ET will be on the air. In my area they bumped it way down the list to late night (1ish AM) and airs after an infomercial and 'drug court'.
Maybe he is jumping ship before it sinks?
I always wonder if they are really quitting or their contracts have not been picked up and they get to say they're quitting to save face.
