Madonna Says It's Hard Being A Single Mom
I know many of you out there are single parents and it is probably very tough for you to manage your kids your work and whatever else you have going on in your life. Madonna feels your pain. She said in an interview this weekend that it is tough raising four kids and doing as much as she does everyday and that if it were not for the several nannies, the three cooks, and 27 other household employees she has, that she would not be able to handle being a single mom who works. So, today as you come home from working your second shift, pick up the kids from daycare or your family because you can't afford daycare, and fix them all dinner and do their homework and put them to bed and gt five minutes to yourself before you do it all over again, Madonna is right there with you.
bitch, please
ReplyDeleteIt is hard being a single mom. She should try it some time, so she knows what it's like.
ReplyDeleteexactly...
ReplyDeleteThis post actually made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteIs she trying to make people like her? She needs to find a different tactic because very very few people can identify with "Madonna problems."
She really makes it hard for fans to continue liking her.
ReplyDeleteI feel about this post the same as when GOOP shares her pain about being a working mom and please buy this $400 cleanse I'm endorsing.
ReplyDeleteBullcrap. Being able to make a lot of money doing what you love, and having that money to afford you live-in professional help so you can continue to pursue your own interests, is amazing and extremely rare. I'll be the first to admit I'm jealous of that freedom. But don't ask me to commiserate!
Oh brother! I don't even know what to say to this, it's so ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteBoo fucking hoo.
ReplyDeleteFour kids? Who is the forth?
ReplyDeleteLourdes, the boy with whatshisbucket and the adopted kid. Who is 4?
She's going to get so much s#!t for this, and she deserves every bit.
ReplyDelete@A Story, she has 2 adopted kids - David Banda and Mercy
ReplyDelete@Doc Girl - EXACTLY! I remember when GOOP preached to moms to stop complaining and simply make the time to work out because, after all, SHE was able to find the time. Okay, but it is a totally different story when you don't have nannies, cooks, etc to do all of the physical work. I would love to see these women spend one day in the life of an average mom, and see if they have the time or energy to do 10% of what they love doing - including exercise. I just really can not stand GOOP.
ReplyDeleteI think no matter what your job is/who you are it is hard being away from your children because you have to go to work.
ReplyDeleteBut the rest of it is total horse shit.
And when she is tired, she can go to a spa or the island destination of choice. It's not like she's punching a time clock.
ReplyDeleteIs she fucking KIDDING? she has round the clock HELP!
ReplyDeletewhat an asshole.
she has no clue, no clue whatsoever. I doubt she understands how hard it is to be a working mother PERIOD! Married or not. She works because she enjoys the money and fame. All of us on here (I assume) work because if we don't we our out on our asses. If it is so hard for you Madonna, than quit working. Quit galavanting around in dresses more suited for a woman half your age, quit giving interviews in fake English accents, quit making horrible movies (for Goodness sake PLEASE!) quit making the same song over and over. Quit trolling dance studios and discos looking for young men with questionable taste in women. Quit acting like you are better than the rest of us when we all know you did stuff none of the rest of us could even think of much less do without a Hazmat suit. I do not for a second begrudge a working mom who is famous. What pisses me off is when they complain about not getting to spend time with their kids and they vacation in Rio and Miami 5x's a year. I have been saving for Disney and it will probably take another 2 years to do it, if at all. bitter bitter bitter me
ReplyDeleteClearly I need some chocolate. *sigh*
Big Mama - Can't help with the chocolate (sorry!), but I LUV YOU!
ReplyDeletePS - Good luck with the Disney trip - If your kids have never been, it's worth every penny to see the look on their faces when they hit the Magic Kingom!
@thanks Goddess - I gave it up for Lent, it's about to kill me.
ReplyDeleteI took my eldest when she was a kid and I was a single mom (she was 15 before I found my husband, wonderful dad to her and the little girls) It took everything I had to do it but was worth every penny. It is a wonderful place and I want for her and her little sisters to experience it together. ;)
Skeeball said it best:
ReplyDeleteB*tch, PLEASE.
She works, because she wants to. She "works," because of how gratifying it is for her. The time away from her kids is by choice, and she can vacation whenever, whereever she wants, with as much help as she wants. For real working mothers, there are NO vacations with children - they are called TRIPS until the kids are out of the house. And, even then, they are luxurious WORK on top of things, when nannies, cooks, cleaners, etc. are not involved.
Besides, how is she a single mom? She has a live-in LOVAH and her children have a father: Carlos Leon / Guy Ritchie. She's neither single, nor alone, nor without endless help. Combine that with the fact that the only work she does is by choice, and, well, as I said, Skeeball nailed it:
B*TCH, PLEASE!!!
just because she has boatloads of money doesn't make her life easy. much easier yes, with money, but not easy. if she tries at all to be a good mother, which I believe she does, then she has four children who rely on her for their emotional needs. the ex husband doesn't get the day to day as much as she does if he's not around all of the time.
ReplyDeleteno doubt being a working mother, or a mother under any circumstances is difficult.
so, I for one can't hop on the hate-madonna train for this one.
Holy crap I completely forgot about Mercy. Funny how we never see the adopted kids anymore.
ReplyDeleteI always tend to agree with BigMama. This is no exception.
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with Madonna being , I accept her for who she is...but bitch please stop trying to relate to the rest of us
ReplyDeleteYou mean to tell me her little boyfriend doesn't double as a manny?
ReplyDeleteShe ain't getting her money's worth then.
Aaaaawwww, poor Madge! It's SO HARD being a working single mom! No one knows her pain! Perhaps we should all chip in and buy her a bouquet of hydrangeas.
ReplyDelete@Ms Cool - neat!
ReplyDelete@califblondy - that made me bust out laughing
OT - The Harry Potter kid in the glasses is freaking me out. I keep thinking Daniel Radcliff must need a job.

ReplyDeleteThe thing is, she doesn't HAVE to work. She's got plenty of money, she works because she WANTS to. If it's so hard, then stop "working" and stay home. WTF. It ain't rocket science.
ReplyDeleteOf all the things Madonna has said, I think this irritates me the most and makes me want to punch her dead in her cocksucker.
Jeezum fecking cheeto. Someone needs a serious reality check.
surprised Enty didn't write about Denzel Washington and his families secret trip to Brook Army Medical Center. He and his family went through the Hospital and met all the wounded. Then he went to the Fisher Houses where the families stay while their loved ones are hospitalized and when their loves ones are outpatients and going through Physical Therapy. He toured the homes asked how much one cost and wrote out a check one the stop to pay for a House. Why isn't old Madge doing something. I am sick of hearing about and I have 4 Family Members currently in the Service. Denzel didn't want any Media so he did this without. They toke some photos of him there (the troops) and posted it to many web sites but not one is interested. But were have to know what old dirt bag English Fake accent is going through.
ReplyDeleteBoo freakin hoo Madonna. It's so tough being a multi-millionaire and being a single mom, even though you have 10 nannies for each child and you see them once a month, except for Lourdes who is almost an adult.
ReplyDelete@jbdean_79 - was thinking the same thing. I'm unemployed, and it's probably stupid and irresponsible of me to do so, but I'd kick in something towards that! I know I can't take mine, but since BigMama's already working towards it, why not make it a little easier?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSince she first had (and acquired) kids, she has had enough money to stop working, be a full-time hands-on mother, and still have a generous income from the interest to take fantastic holidays. She works because she wants to, not because she has to.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are awesome. I love that about everyone on here. I would never do it but you made my day offering. I think it is probably good for my kids to see us work for something like this. Yeah, it sucks but at the end of the day they will hopefully understand that anything worth having is worth working hard for. But when we do go, I am totally sending in a "readers" pic. peace
ReplyDelete@emeyekay - I will let you know if I find any deals so you can take your kids too. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh do fuck off Madonna. And while you're at it put some trousers on, I'm sick of looking at your crotch.
ReplyDeleteBigMama said: "Quit trolling dance studios and discos looking for young men with questionable taste in women." I think it's more accurate to say she trolls them looking for young men with questionable taste in other young men!
ReplyDeletecrila16 said "...you see them once a month except for Lourdes, who is almost an adult." I think Lourdes wants nothing to do with her, and Madonna is trying to feed off of her (and her "boyfriend's") youthful energy like a psychic vampire.
Netta's "...punch her dead in her cocksucker" made me laugh!
So does this mean she's sending the African kid back to his rightful owner?
ReplyDeleteBesides.....we all know she's delegated all the parental obligations to Lourdes. Poor kid, cant wait for her 'TELL ALL'.
ReplyDelete@BigMama - I appreciate the sentiment but it won't happen. There are so many things in front of it, a vacation isn't even in the dream stage at this point. But thank you (and @jbdean_79, too) :) BIG smiles to you guys!
ReplyDeleteEmEyeKay - I hope you find work soon. I know it's hard. I would love to help if I could. I know my company is hiring.
ReplyDeleteBitch, please.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a single mom, rather a SAHM, but if I had the help she did, I wouldn't need as much sleep as I damn do...and I wouldn't have caught back-to-back illnesses recently (flu & bronchitis).
Once again, bitch, please.
Fun facts I have learned from this thread:
ReplyDeleteWomen should not want to work, or be passionate about what they do. If you are a woman, you should either not work at all, or if you must, only work a job that pays the bills, end of story. If you have a creative job that you don't necessarily have to do, but do because you enjoy it and the perks it brings, you are HORRIBLE PERSON WHO SIMPLY CANNOT RELATE TO ALL THE "REAL" WOMEN OUT THERE WHO WORK AT SAFEWAY AND HAVE KIDS.
If said job also made you very, very rich, you are to be flogged in public. Shame on you, for producing a product that people spend money on. SHAME, you WITCH. As soon as money starts rolling in, you should immediately stop working and stay home and take care of your children. Children should be all you care about, you ovary-having slut.
Of course her life is easier because she is rich and can hire nannies. That doesn't mean it is any easier for her to spend time away from her family or trying to balance her professional life with her family life. It's upsets people like Newt Gingrich, but women can actually have both these days. Shocking, I know.
Don't get me wrong, I think Madonna has turned into quite a sanctimonious asshole lately, but really, her only sin is the fact that she is a hugely successful woman in a world that doesn't really like women having too much power or money. At least not if they also have families.
Maja, I think you are really misreading what people's reactions are all about. I don't think anyone has said women with kids shouldn't work or be passionate about their chosen fields. I wish more women (and men!) were passionate about their jobs, because happy, fulfilled people are better parents. What people find intolerable is when parents who don't work a regular job (and therefore don't have to deal with all of the bullshit that entails), make tons of money, and have a retinue of helpers whine about how TOUGH their lives are. Get real. Madonna never had to change a diaper if she didn't want to. She doesn't have to call in sick to work and listen to her boss bitch at her when one of her kids is sick. She never had to get up and go to work at 8 am the next day after being up all night with a colicky or teething baby. She doesn't have to scrimp to pay bills while her ex is a year behind in child support.
ReplyDeleteDo vast financial resources mean all parenting is a walk in the park? Obviously not. But it makes things a LOT easier.
And those financial resources mean she can hire governesses, nannies, tutors, etc. to come with her on tour or on a set, if she wants to bring her kids. She doesn't have to spend any time away from them unless she wants to.
Celebrities think it makes them sound like the salt of the earth when they talk about how they identify with us peons, but it just makes them look like assholes.
Do I think every day is glorious for Madonna as a parent? Hell, no. But I think a lot of the problems she may have parenting are those she brings upon herself, simply by being Madonna.
No, Maja, what irritates me is her bitching. I don't give a rat's ass what she does with her life, but don't come out in public and make ignorant statements about how difficult it is to be a single mom when you have the resources TO MAKE A CHOICE. Most single moms don't have the luxury of having any other option but to work their asses off.
ReplyDeleteIf you go out in public and whine about how difficult it is to be away from your children and you have a herd of nannies, meaning you aren't really even taking care of your kids, then why the fuck did you have them?
Here's a fun fact for you -- my opinion is if you choose to have children, they should be your priority. Because that should mean more to you than a fucking career. If that means people think I'm a female Neanderthal, I DON'T CARE.
Grow up in a single parent household where the single parent works two or three jobs just to put food on the table, THEN tell me about it. BE a single mother working two or three jobs and THEN tell me about it. This bitch has a CHOICE. She can take a hiatus, raise her kids, and go right back to it if that's what she wants. But no, let her NANNIES raise her kids. Okay.
Oooo, I think I need some of Big Mama's chocolate. Or maybe a lobotomy.
It's been a long Monday.
LOL @texshan send the bitch a bouquet a day of hydrangeas until she gets over herself..arrogant no talent POS no class a legend in her own mind
ReplyDeleteare you kidding me? Madonna insults women like myself who are well acquainted with the real single mother experience. I live below the poverty line to put myself through school and raise a child by myself with no financial support from the father. I am constantly worried about money, guilty for the lack of time I spend with my child, and, at times, scared of what the future holds in this economy. and she dares to complain about being a single mom?!? while I appreciate her ability as a female marketing genius to recreate her image for almost thirty years, I do not at all appreciate her putting herself in the same category as me. additionally, her daughter and my daughter are around the same age. i can assure you that the stresses my daughter endures, her daughter cannot even fathom. In the future, I can only hope hollywood types like M refrain from complaining about being a single mom. It about turns my stomach.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think the pissy remarks towards Madonna are about her being rich or working whilst she is but rather the attempt to tell those who do work 2-3 jobs as single parewnts and bareley make it that she understands how hard it is. Were she to spin that "I can't see how other women do it, it's hard for me and I have help," well then, she may have gained a few more fans.
ReplyDeleteYou must admit having someone who is so blessed with talent and income and fame during these very tough times does not need to play poor, poor pitiful me. Looks very bad!
This is the typical "I'm just like you" BS celebrities are trying to push off on us. I find it extremely insulting and stupid! When will these celebrity brain trusts figure that out? News flash Vadge: "you are not LIKE me!" Please stop pretending you are. I don't sell out arenas and you don't teach English composition.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Netta, when you choose to have children, they should become a priority. I love my job, but if I had to choose between it and my family-my family wins!
I loathe this bitch. How dare she compare herself to women out there who are working long hours (for very little money) just to feed & clothe their children??? Condescending Trollop.
ReplyDeleteYeah, try it without money and help, you narcissistic, talentless piece of shit. How dare you complain about how hard it is to be a single mother when you haven't CLUE FUCKING ONE about it. When your biggest daily concern is "which manchild am I going to make into a boyfriend today?" then you have no room to complain about anything. When one of your kids is sick and no one knows why and you don't have the money to find the best doctors, then you can complain. When you're looking at three shut-off notices trying to decide which ONE you pay, then you can complain. When you sleep with one eye open because the neighborhood you live in is a warzone, then you can complain. Until then, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT SHIT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!
ReplyDeleteMadonna, every time she poses she looks like she is going to rip someone's head off(and probably does) One of my mom's old college professors was best friends with Madonna before she was famous and would send her letters, discussing her quest for fame. The professor actually brought the letter and cards into class one day. Mom said that her letters often consisted of her bragging about her latest lover(s)and basically spent the whole time saying "me me me me me". So I guess some things never change.
ReplyDeleteKerri - "Condescending Trollop" priceless!
ReplyDeleteI'm sending everyone chocolate!!!!!
@chopchop You´re completely right.
ReplyDeleteI´ve always been a HUGE fan of hers, but lately, and beside the fact that for a couple of years she hasn´t seemed the least interested in releasing new music, I find it really hard to empathize or ignore some of the stupid things she feels compelled to tell the world. Like that "work all year, scrape the money together (sic) and buy a 300$ to my concert because I´m worth it" BS.
She´s definitely lost touch with reality, no matter how many kids and earthly worries (!) she has in her life.
This is right up there with Jessica Simpson complaining about her 6" heels while she's yay-hoo preggers.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but like many others have said here Madonna's kids have their father around, presumably paying child support (I saw a pic of those kids in the airport last week, they all got on new sneakers!)....bitch isn't a single mom, she's fuckin divorced....
ReplyDeleteit annoys me when rich divorcees complain about "single motherhood". It's divorced hood. YOUR single, your kids are not.
It may not be a popular opinion, but having children is a choice, as well. Children are wonderful, but it is not a life necessity for every woman to procreate. I do not feel bad for single mothers, dicorced mothers, married mothers, or any other type of mother that I may have failed to mention. Most women know that raising children is expensive, time consuming and exhausting work, yet they choose to have them anyway. There is also no guarentee that a relationship will last, so there is always the possibility that the mother will have to raise their children alone. To me, complaining about how hard it is to raise children is like complaining about getting wet when you take a bath.
ReplyDeleteAs for Madonna, while I agree that her experience of motherhood may not be the average, she probably also finds it difficult to be away from her children and find a balance in her life. On this subject, I agree with Maja.
