John Mayer Cancels Tour
Even after not speaking for an entire month, John Mayer still cannot seem to get his throat healthy. The singer announced yesterday that his granuloma has returned which is necessitating that he cancel his entire tour and take a break again from singing. He managed to put together an album which is due out later in the spring and was hoping to tour to support it, but that is just not going to happen. No matter what you think of his personal life, it sucks to not be able to do what you obviously do best and love most other than sleep with random women, make out with random guys and Tweet about them.
I know he can be a douche, but I feel bad for him and his fans.
ReplyDeleteI'll be nice about his throat and say that I hope he recovers soon and can perform again. I do like some of his music.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, he has lots 'o time to get himself into sticky situations! Or should I say stinky situations! I wonder if he likes the fellas to shit on him, or does he reserve that delightful behavior for the ladies.
He really is a wonderful writer and musician. I hope he heals fast.
ReplyDeleteHey, as long as the gross sex play is consensual, who cares?
I"m getting a bit concerned about young singers having so many throat problems.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy JM. You are a talented writer and your singing often makes me happy.
How many guys does he randomly kiss? When I used to read Perez I know it was with him, but I do not keep up on JM outside of blinds!
ReplyDeleteKarma's a bitch.
ReplyDeleteI have to say the most self aware comment he made in that statement is
ReplyDelete"Born and Raised will be released as scheduled, but because I don’t make a very good anything-other-than-a-musician".
He finally grows up and gets that he isn't cut out to be a celebrity or toying with high profile girls hearts combined with public comments he made dug him deeper in the douchebag hole, then this happens.
I don't know if it is Karma having a laugh or what.
He is talented and I hate this for him but I can't help but wonder where the voodoo doll is hidden in Giada(sp?) house. Or if it has a tournaquet around it's throat
ReplyDeletehaha @BigMama I can imagine her poking her voodoo doll in the throat!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair John quit Twitter about 2 years ago. His posts on tumblr are pretty low key and sporadic.
If Chris Brown is getting the red carpet treatment. The least people can do is offer John the same kindness in turn. Though it is hard to get past his "my dick is david duke" but then again, he was in full "I want to be a stand up comic mode" and took a joke too far that wasn't funny to begin with.
Maybe there's a glitch in evolution with the throat problem? I drink a couple beers and my throat is always sore the next day. I don't think evolution has adapted to all the weird sh*t we do to our throats...
ReplyDeleteHis throat problems apparently stem from overuse; he used to tour nearly constantly and gives GREAT show. Not being able to tour is sad both for him and his fans (me included). His recent Twitter silence and lack of (reported) douchery gives me hope that this extraordinarily talented musician / songwriter is finally growing the hell up, like @timebob says.
ReplyDeleteHe might be a turdhole but this sucks for any serious musician, which I believe he is.
ReplyDeleteSorry but YAY! the Limp Dick Music is done for a while!
ReplyDeleteWell, then. Poetic justice? I don't ever want to hear his nasty, racist, misogynist shit ever again. Karma, yeah, karma.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately this is not uncommon with rock type singers. When I was in grad school for Speech Pathology there was a whole unit on the voice with a video featuring a well known rock singer who had bilateral nodules from overuse and several stage actors who were speaking in the wrong pitch...their voices projected, but it caused a lot of damage (that was before personal mics were used regularly during stage productions. Until he figures out what he's doing the problem is going to keep coming back. Even if you have surgery, if you haven't fixed the abuse, the problem comes back.
ReplyDeleteI have to comment for my first time on here. I went to highschool with him. He was a total nerd, no girl would talk to him. He was the BEST musician by far. He sang differently, he def needed the vocal lessons he got in college, but his song writing and guitar playing blew all the other kids away. When he got on stage to perform, he had the star quality, but off, he couldn't get a date. I understand him banging every hot A-List female, he always had crushes on the hot cheerleaders who wouldn't talk to him. One girl actually told his friends to tell John to "leave her the fuck alone". You can hate his personal life, but he's just a regular guy with extreme talent. He eats and drinks music and can't live without it. I feel so awful that his one passion is taken from him. I hope he recovers and can find another way to use his creativity until this passes. At least he hasn't lost his ability to write amazing songs. And if you still think he's a douche, a few years ago he was here trying to fix an issue in our hometown. I had a crush on his younger brother growing up lol
