Jaycee Dugard Ventures Out In Public To Meet Oprah
Oprah and Jaycee Dugard were at the same event Friday night. Both were receiving awards. Oprah got her award for being Oprah and because everyone has to pay tribute to Oprah every year or the locusts will return. Jaycee was there because she is one heck of a person who should get awards everyday and never have to work and Oprah should make sue of that. This was the first time Jaycee has appeared in public and spoken. She is so humble too.
"My name is Jaycee Dugard, and I want to say that because for a long time I wasn't able to say my name and so it feels good. I am truly honored to be here tonight with these amazing women who have done and been through so much more than me."
18 years of being held prisoner and raped daily is way more than anyone else that was there.
Amen, brother, amen!
ReplyDeleteAnd Oprah! Jeez, I cant stand how she has one topic, me, me , me!!! Geesh!!
"...everyone has to pay tribute to Oprah every year or the locusts will return".
ReplyDeleteOutstanding line, Enty!
If you haven't read Jaycee's book, you should. How she manages to function at all is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteCA paid Jaycee millions in failing to protect her when multiple probation officers failed to find her checking up on that slime.
ReplyDeleteShe nor her kids will ever have to suffer financial hardship small comfort of what she had to go through but it is something.
I agree with Basil. Her book is a must-read. Jaycee is such an inspiration.
ReplyDeletePeople like Jaycee Duggard are proof that you can overcome your past. There are so many murderers, child molesters, and rapists who use bad childhoods as an excuse for their disgusting crimes. Then you have people like Jaycee who make them look like exactly what they are: evil monsters who want use their past as an excuse to hurt others.
ReplyDeleteI hope this poor girl can find nothing but happiness in her life. What she went through is just unimaginable and the fact that she's still functioning and is so humble shows a level of personal strength that is just astounding to me.
What did Oprah ever do to you Enty?
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazing woman, broke down a lot of barriers for a lot of black women.
At a time when black people had very few people to look up to on TV we had Oprah..
I think she has done more for race relations than she is ever given credit for.
When you adopt hundreds of African girls by building them a school and educating them for free and not hosting benefits to fund it then you maybe can bash Oprah.
ReplyDeleteOooh and Jaycee is an amazing human being and should be recognized as such but you don't have to trash Oprah just to get a rise out of your readers who happen to love her and what she stands for.
ReplyDeleteOops, the Oprah lovers are here!!!
ReplyDeleteI will say the same thing about Jaycee as I did about Elizabeth Smart-They have both been through hell and back and now deserve their happily ever afters....
ReplyDeleteOprah must be on google alerts for the nutties. It was just sarcasm calm down up there.

ReplyDeleteOprah also had a horrific childhood that I do believe involved overcoming rape and poverty. Not comparing Jaycee's experience to Oprahs but she hasnt always been a billionaire.
ReplyDeleteI think Jaycee deserves everything (and more) coming to her, and she is a source of inspiration and awe, hopefully, for many survivors of sexual atrocities.
As Oprah, narcissistic and controlling and ego-driven, no doubt, is deserved of being recognized for the many barriers she has broken and for the people/charities she's helped in her lifetime.
Comparing these two women does nothing but force people to choose sides of what is really the same coin. These are two smart, amazing women who have impacted the world with their stories and themselves. I'll focus on that, rather than play the who deserves which award.
@Basil, Tater - does she spend most of her time on the events, or on how she's lived afterwards? I don't want to read it if she's rehashing the horror story, (it's bad enough knowing such a thing happened) but I'm intrigued by your recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI think Oprah is pretty special and I agree she has done lots for race relations too. I guess she's an easy target to pick on since everyone treats her like a saint.
ReplyDeleteI have read Jaycee's book too. What an inspiration she is....
ReplyDeleteWhy should Oprah make sure of that? I think that would be the responsibility of the state that allowed that pig out to continue to cause harm. I don't think Oprah kidnapped, molested and impregnated this woman. Pick some real battles.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get Oprah. Maybe you need to have a bunch of rugrats running around syphoning all your energy and identity to understand the appeal of being an Oprah robot.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jaycee is in a happy and healthy place, and that things only get better for her after what she suffered through. People bitch and moan about how depraved Hollywood is but Hollywood is simply a microcosm of the world.
@emeyekay She does go into some detail, but IMO it isn't salacious. Just enough to give the reader the idea of the horror of the situation. That guy was indeed a monster.
ReplyDelete"People like Jaycee Duggard are proof that you can overcome your past. There are so many murderers, child molesters, and rapists who use bad childhoods as an excuse for their disgusting crime."
ReplyDeleteSome people have enormous inner strength, some people have emotional support, some people are compensated for what happened to them (like Jaycee). Some other people don't have any of that.
Don't let the inhumane acts that have happened to people by other people steal your compassion away.
@Jasmine- everything you said gets +10000 points.
ReplyDeleteyes, oprah has a fuckton of money. but no one can say she hasn't worked for it. i truly believe hating her comes from a place of jealousy.
plenty of people have dedicated their lives to helping others. But they don't get Oscars for it.
ReplyDeleteJaycee truly is an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOprah IS an easy target, but she worked her ass off to get to where she is today. I have a lot of admiration for her and others who come from modest means and broken homes and are able to rise above it. I loved her earlier shows, so effortless, funny and smart. The last 5-7 years of her show, she always interrupted her guests, which was sooo annoying. Anyway, still love her!
I read Oprah presented Jaycee's award to her.
