Jason Russell's Wife Is In Denial

The wife of Jason Russell denies that her husband was under the influence of any substance when he went on his BONY 2012 tour last week. Danica Russell says that the pounding on the pavement and masturbation and vandalism and being completely naked was because of the attention his KONY 2012 video received and how they expected a few thousand hits and not millions and Jason could not handle the stress of such a wonderful result. Yeah, that and all the stories about spending all the foundation's money on mistresses. Hopefully Danica will get out of denial very soon if she wants to make her marriage still work.

  1. Man, it ain't just a river in Egypt, is it? If I were his wife, I'd almost want to believe it was drug-induced, instead of thinking this is how my husband reacts to stress.

  2. Yeah, I'd prefer to acknowledge drugs involved than that my hubs was just "stressed out."

  3. wow. that's denial level 87!

  4. Call me crazy, but I'd be more likely to distance myself from the publicity and focus on figuring out what the fuck was wrong with my husband and whether or not I needed to get out of that marriage.

Though, if he's freaking out and doing this type of thing in public, I'm sure similar behavior has already been exhibited in the home in some manner. If it's mental illness, can it really just sneak up out of no where like that? I know there are CDANers that have much more knowledge on the subject than I do.

  5. Dude has a nice bod, I'll give him THAT!

  6. I've witnessed a psychotic break. It was EXACTLY like watching someone tripping on LSD. The person was hospitalized when I saw them, and I immediately asked a nurse what drugs had been administered - and the answer was "none".

Mental illness can do some crazy things to a person. It would be much easier to deal with and treat if it was just a bad drug trip. I hope this poor guy is getting the help he needs, and that he's compliant. Involuntary treatment is a whole other nightmare story for the family. Trust me.

  7. Disco flux - my family member did have a history of mental illness, but the extremely bizarre behavior associated with the psychotic break came about due to a prolonged physical illness. And it did happen rather rapidly - I'd say over the course of 24 hours. It was a horrible experience.

  8. Frufra - I am so sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine how frightening that must have been. That's why I didn't want to pass judgement too quickly. Thank you for filling in information gaps for me.

  9. Thank you for the posts Enty, I have enjoyed my time here very much :)

I don't think he chose to get caught out there with free willy, I think it was an accident when he told one to many lies and his pants exploded into a huge fireball consuming all other clothing he was wearing at the time.

He was so traumatized by this unfortunate but likely event that his actual persona imploded and left only the used remains of what appears to be a lunatic.

So it was only natural to then start banging the car, there was probably a puppy in there and the windows were up.....

Oh yeah, Drew Barrymore absolutely Rocks, this thought occurred to me as I pondered "Charlie's Angels" and kickin ass and I hope Farrah enjoyed it too on some level. God knows she needed some smiles

  10. He seems pretty gay in that video as well...?

  11. Is he out yet?

I can't believe he was alone in his psychotic break, where were his friends, his handlers? He is a Million dollar product, and he was left to go traversing around with no one helping him or trying to stop him?

Don't get me wrong I have serious doubts with the "Charity" but as a human being and he being a devout Christian and all I would have thought his people would be with him.

  12. Frufra thank you. I'm the first person to jumo to conclusions and assume this breakdown was of substance abuse origin but having witnessed mental illness not brought on by drugs i have to say that not only does this look to be a genuine mental breakdown but this man needs serious mental health treatment. Also, how sad is it that mental health issues are stll mocked and sensationalized by the media. We really haven't come that far yet. Shane on tmz.

  13. I've never seen anyone on LSD act like that, but I have witnessed psychotic breaks and I believe that is what this is. He's mentally ill, it's scary for his wife. A break can be brought on by stress, maybe he was worried that his misdeeds would be discovered and that was the stress. If he is mentally ill, don't try to make sense of it, you will go crazy. What a weird world we live in. Sad for a bunch of people.

  14. Angelica, that was my thought exactly. My gaydar was pinging hard on this one. But crazy or not, that is one sexy girlfriend.

  15. he appears to be manic state or elevated hypomanic state of bipolar disorder...

  16. What Frufra said. My first thought upon viewing the tape was psychiatric episode, not drugs. Certainly, drugs remain in the differential diagnosis, but he appears to me to be someone with a serious mental illness who is no longer in remission.

  17. I'm one more vote for the "this doesn't sound like drugs alone" camp.

What drug, by itself, would cause someone to do all this?

Of course this doesn't mean there weren't substances involved on top of whatever else is going on.

  20. i didn't see the original tape ... but i have seen a family member (my son) who is bi-polar I, have a complete mental break. it ended with him slamming his head into a brick wall (on purpose) and it knocked him out. very frightening. when the police came and he woke up .. he acted if nothing had happened and convinced the police he was completely fine and it was an accident.

i stood there with my hair on the back of my neck ... mental illness is no joke. :(

  21. There is more to this story, obviously. I saw a report that said his father did run after him and he pushed him away so hard that he knocked him down. His father was one of the people who called the police, I think.

I can absolutely believe this is a complete mental breakdown, or it could be some substance, but they aren't filing any charges so I would guess mental breakdown. If he's closeted, add that to the stress of the attention and the accusations that he was not ready for, and yeah, I can see this happening.

His wife needs to just not say anything. It's strange how the 24/7 media cycle now dictates that you have to speak up, I wish we could go back to a time when dignity was restored by silence and privacy.

  22. I still think it was drugs. Maybe drugs AND a mental break, but I am convinced drugs played a part in this.
I wonder how his wife feels being married to a gay man :/ or if she is in denial about that as well.

    ReplyDelete
  23. He's married to a woman? No, this guy is as gay as a rainbow.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have seen mental breakdowns, drug induced, or both! I havent seen the video yet and i dont really want to! But since i wasnt there and dont know him i dont want to say either yet.

  25. Who cares if he's gay?

I hope his boy didn't see this.

  26. "BONY 2012"!!!

Someday, maybe, I will develop a more mature sense of humor. Today is not that day.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have family and friends with mental health issues and they generally are a progressive breakdown. I've watched manic, but never seen anything like that!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Seriously uncool of you if this poor guy has had a break down. You would want to be VERY sure of your facts before mocking the mentally ill if you hope to maintain any credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm completely, positively and absolutely certain he has trashed his own credibility with the people of Uganda who are the victims here. Remember them?

I can't even begin to bring their view to the table.

It's not very hard to find.

Remember we are talking about a multi - millions.

Why do so many insist on making him the victim.

(and so his foot shall slide)

Didn't Winston Churchill run a whole country thru a world war with a killer case of manic depression , bi-polar , choose your label?

    WOW!

He is amazingly polite about this too I might add...

  34. I'm going with bipolar, manic phase with psychosis. Yeah, it can come on all sudden-like, but if he regularly is manic without the psychosis, this grand finale is just the cherry on a sundae of stress for him and his family.

My ex-husband had one of these episodes that came on after a period of intense productivity that resulted in a lot of focus on him professionally and he just snapped (bipolar people can be some of the most creative, accomplished people in the world - the flip side is hell tho).

I came home and he had been doing a loop of our downstairs, buck-naked (even though we had company) spouting word salad. Incredibly paranoid. We ended up in the ER and he was admitted to the behavioral ward, but had calmly talked the doctors out of thinking he needed to stay within 12 hours.

Drugs not needed for that kind of break, but my ex did smoke pot.
