I Think Martina Navratilova Will Be Eliminated First On Dancing With The Stars
I am not a firm believer in that the lowest score goes home first on Dancing With The Stars, but in this case, I think it will work that way. The problem that is facing the bottom is that everyone at the bottom has name recognition with the people who call in and vote. Remember, the demographic of this thing is right in Melissa Gilbert's wheelhouse. She was on quite the streak in the 80's what with her dating Rob Lowe and Billy Idol. Some even say there is talk the two men might have had their own little house on the prairie with her at some point. The joke works better than if I said Eiffel Tower. Anyway, Martina Navratilova is in that same group of recognition and Gladys Knight and even Jack Wagner. If any of this group were younger, I would say they would go home. If it were someone from The Hills or another MTV show, they would be gone. Martina is eliminated tonight, or maybe Gladys Knight.
This pic of her with her partner made me wonder, when are they going to let gays and lesbians dance with someone of the same sex?
ReplyDeleteOr does this show's popularity among midwest housewives prevent that from ever happening?
I fast-forwarded to Donald Driver. I have no idea who is going to get the boot.
ReplyDeleteI like Martina but I don't think she'll improve enough to last more than another week if she stays.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the judges are scoring too high too soon this season and I think they play favorites with the pros. Donald Driver should have had higher scores.
THAT is Martina? She looks fabulous!! So good to see her.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - Martina looks great.
ReplyDeleteGladys is next to go.
ReplyDeletepoor martina has no rhythm...ita she'll be the first to go...but yay her for doing the show, it's nice to see another side of her...she put forth good effort and and that will always go over well w/ audiences.
ReplyDeleteI would put my money on Gavin going home tonight. Martina has a very large fan base and the votes will pull her through...at least for this first elimination week.
ReplyDeleteI am not watching it but right away thought Martina will be the first out.
ReplyDeleteWho? I guess I shouldn't comment on these, I generally don't watch this.
ReplyDeleteCarrie--I don't watch often, but Gavin is very popular with the college crowd... especially with his new songs out. I'm not sure what the audience demographics are; if he didn't just drop some new popular singles, I'd be guessing him as first to go. As it is, I bet Martina will go first.
ReplyDeleteYou would have to find a woman who is an excellent leader. In ballroom - men lead, women follow. It isn't that easy to switch & become a leader or a follower. It would make for less-exciting (if that's even possible) dancing. I teach salsa dancing & although I lead, I'm not as good as when I follow.
ReplyDeleteHunter, Martina Navratilova is the most decorated female tennis player ever in the history of the game. Tennis Channel has been promoting her like crazy for the last week, so she might squeak through this week. She's a fighter, but yeah, she is not a good dancer at all. Sad to see her go, she and Tony seem to have a very sweet friendship.
ReplyDeleteagreed, she was HORRIBLE. so stiff.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really hard to tell, each of them have their own fan base, guess it just depends on which fans will vote the most.. what about Katherine Jenkins, I think most of her votes will come because of her partner..Just wondering why she did the American Version and not the British one.
ReplyDeleteChris- that is an excellent question!!
ReplyDeleteI've danced with some of my female friends before and a few of them WERE natural leaders. This myth that women cant lead in dancing is bullocks (my Brit colloquialism of the day haha).
I coulda sworn this wasnt Dancing with the Stars: circa 1850
Let people dance with whatever gender they want to, as long as the person is capable of leading/following who the fuck cares?!
Martina never looked better. I don't always vote, but I did last night. The projected loser was Gavin - and Martina was projected safe - boy were they off! The others in the bottom were the young kid (correct), Sherri Shepherd and I believe Jack and Anna. I wish Tony Dovalani could get someone that will go far for a change! The last time I remember him in the top 3 was when Stacey Kiebler was on the show...I probably will now time out til the end, Melissa's face is just too painful to look at!!
